LittleBigPlanet. The Next Big Machinima Tool?

Archive: 20 posts

I just went back through watching some LBP vids, and I came back across some footage showing off some of the emotions you can make your sackboy act, and also that he will lipsynche whatever you are saying while using a headset.

Now, with not just the custom levels you can make, but also with what you can do with your sackboy, I think there is a possibility that LittleBigPlanet could be another great game for Machinima. It would be pretty awesome to see what could be done.

What do you think. Any possible ideas of what could be done for a LBP Machinima?

Machinima is movie-making using video games for animation. You screencap the TV or whatever you're playing on, so you don't have to animate a bunch. Here's a website (http://machinima.com) for it.

Yeah it would! And with the youtube-uploady thing.. it would also be cool. Hopefully they'll give us editing tools (even just basic cutting/pasting) so we can make our videos better.2008-08-02 15:48:00

There's only a few months left 'til the game's release, they might just add some little features that wont drastically change the game, but still make it more fun.
I've personally never tried machinima, but once I get my PS3 online, find some buds, and arrange everything, it could be awesome trying it out.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing because after watching Sackzilla it totally is a Machinima. So I can totally see this working out and if not on the release of the game I see it later being a DLC. MM has stated that they would put stuff out that the community is wanting on DLC. So this forsure seems like it will do this.2008-08-26 18:23:00

I think LBP will be very good for Machinima. Also, Spore seems to be another prime candidate, seeing as it also features a simple video recorder, and the abilitly to upload straight to YouTube.2008-08-26 19:36:00

Oh really? I did not know that. Well I only will get spore if it is released to the PS3. I am just fine with what LBP has.

Yeah, not too many people here seem to be PC gamers.

I know that I'll like LBP better that Spore, but they are totally different games, they really can't be compared.

It might get a console release eventually, but I doubt it'll be anytime soon.

Well what do you mean it might get a console release? It is coming to a console, it is coming on the wii. Now coming to PS3? I will not hold my breath but it is said it will but they will not put it ont he xbox 360, due to the problems with xbox live.

Speaking of LBP being a useful machinima tool, what if we used LBP to make Podcast-style videos?

SackCasting, anyone? XD

Oh yeah. It's probably gonna be another whole year before it comes out for the Wii, and it won't be as good as the PC version, I wouldn't be surprised of it was a completely different type of game like Spore for the DS.

I was actually thinking about making a small series about a sackboy that gets left behind after a move, and needs to find his way across a city to find his family. It realy is going to be an overly amazing game 2008-08-27 14:31:00
