<img src="http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/sad_panda.png" alt="Sad Panda" width="200" height="330" class="floatright" style="float: right"/>LittleBigPlanet 2 is a crazy dream, a dream to allow players to make whatever kind of game they want, but also to play though a great adventure of drama and excitement, power-ups, and cinematics. But like all of the most ambitious ideas, it can be a considerable challenge to turn these dreams in to fun games. We’ve all been working like powered-up space ninjas and we’re almost there, but because we love what we’ve made, and we love our little sack-friends, and most of all we love all our fans out there, we couldn’t let you all get together until we knew we were giving you the best experience imaginable. Which is why we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to <strong>January 2011</strong>. We know this will come as disappointing news for all you LittleBigPlanet fans, and believe us, we are disappointed too. We are a tight-knit team and we take enormous pride in our work, so to raise the bar we?ve set with the original LittleBigPlanet, a game that has been so embraced by all, we?ve agreed to allow ourselves a bit more time to deliver the experience that our great fans and community deserve. We are truly sorry, but hope you understand that we have to build the best possible game, as it is the foundation of our community. <img src="http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/sadpanda-hope.png" alt="Oooooh!" class="floatleft" style="margin: 0px; margin-right: 8px"/> <span style="padding-top: 10px">On the upside, we are going to find a way to give more of you a taste of LBP2 prior to launch, so stay tuned.</span> Thanks for your continued love and support, it won?t be long ? we promise. <strong style="color:#ed2794"><em>Lots of love from all at Mm</em></strong> <div class="feedflare"> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?a=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:yIl2AU oC8zA"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?d=yIl2AUoC8zA" border="0"></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?a=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:qj6IDK 7rITs"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?a=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:V_sGLi PBpWU"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?i=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:V_sGLi PBpWU" border="0"></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?a=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:F7zBnM yn0Lo"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?i=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:F7zBnM yn0Lo" border="0"></a> <a href="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?a=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:gIN9vF wOqvQ"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/MediaMoleculeBlog?i=rjbi71uxD00:U5POhZsjwW8:gIN9vF wOqvQ" border="0"></a> | 2010-09-23 12:30:00 Author: Spaff_Molecule Posts: 421 |
Thank you all, for not having me juggle the 3ds, all of nintendos games, and lbp2, at once. | 2010-09-23 12:35:00 Author: Couchmuffin Posts: 53 |
Let me be the first to say.... Doh! | 2010-09-23 12:35:00 Author: c_mckamey Posts: 62 |
I don't think I could cope with NFS: Hot Pursuit and LBP2 releasing the same day. It sorta worked out then for me too. Do want that costume! Love the idea of a Taste test. | 2010-09-23 13:04:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
This sucks I hope the delay means all features will make it in (like keyboard & mouse support). Oh well back to LBP1 I go Project incoming soon guys, I'll put a teaser up later today | 2010-09-23 13:12:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |
I'd just like to say I'm glad to see you're not bowing to marketing pressure or anything like that. This is too huge a game to spoil by rushing. | 2010-09-23 13:19:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I'd just like to say I'm glad to see you're not bowing to marketing pressure or anything like that. This is too huge a game to spoil by rushing. I agree with Foofles here. It' sucks to have to delay the release, but I think it's important to get it right. Being in the software biz myself, I was looking at the Nov. 16 date, countered with the knowledge I have of the current state of the code (from all I have read since the beta NDA was lifted), and I was a bit concerned. Not only for the possibility of a shoddy release, but for the health and well-being of the Mm staff if they were to meet that deadline. | 2010-09-23 13:26:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! MY DAY IS RUINED!!!!!! I wanted to play the FPS minigame level and every level what there are!!! NOW I HAVE TO WAIT UNTILL JANUARY!!!!!! | 2010-09-23 13:29:00 Author: himoks Posts: 734 |
Awww no worries Spaff! I was thinking mid Nov was quite an aggressive date considering some of the issues we've seen. Glad to see Mm regroup and do the right thing in waiting rather than hurrying it out the door and causing in essence more harm than good. Good luck and thanks for keeping us posted! ...now about that NA Beta date... | 2010-09-23 13:38:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |

this works out well for me as my birthday is in january also this gives me ample time to finnish building my levels | 2010-09-23 16:11:00 Author: Unknown User |
http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/sadpanda-hope.png ^ New LBPC smily please? This really doesn't bother me, I felt that the sequel was coming too soon, especially since I got LBP1 last Christmas. I have a level in the works that will be pretty obsolete when LBP2 comes so now I have the chance to get it out! I wasn't going to get LBP2 in November no matter what, maybe I'll get it in January... Strangely enough this is good news for me, and if it makes the game better it's good news for everyone. Thanks guys! =D http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/5/animal0064hb2_display.gif | 2010-09-23 16:46:00 Author: Blackfalcon Posts: 409 |
Thanks for the heads-up Spaff, Now I will definitely have time to complete part 2 of my current LBP project before LBP2 arrives! Sure I'm disappointed but I'm also happy to wait for a better product since I intend to spend A LOT of time with it. Too bad there isn't some sort of beta I could participate in to get a glimpse of things to come. | 2010-09-23 17:02:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |
I second the smily vote! Ya, I'd rather they did it right and gave themselves more time. I know the guys over at MM work their tails off and I appreciate that they care enough about the quality of their product and ultimately our experience with their product enough to make this tough call. Thanks for everything MM! For those of you totally bummed about this, it gives you more time to plan what to make when it does come out and for rtm to invent all kinds of awesome stuff that'll make them work | 2010-09-23 17:02:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Right now I should be saying "Why, why would you put this on hold?! Why would you hurt us like this!" But this means there won't be a competition with other highly anticipated games like CoD: Black Ops (So I won't feel guilty enjoying it ), it means the game will be more perfected and even more epic, and also i'll have time to play Costume Quest when it comes out. Good luck MM, we're all behind you! | 2010-09-23 17:10:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |

Does this mean they'll be able to finish the Xbox 360 port in time? J/k Im not sure if they will make it for Xbox and i will doubt it as this can use the new playstation move and i think Mm are better with Sony. Also i don't know if xbox have the six axis and motion control (like when you move sackboy's head). | 2010-09-23 19:55:00 Author: Unknown User |

Also he was joking, Sony owns the IP, LBP on 360 is not possible LOL | 2010-09-23 19:59:00 Author: robotiod Posts: 2662 |
What a shame. I guess it's about time I smash my broken PS3, recover my LBP disc, and wait. | 2010-09-23 20:06:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
This is the most upsetting thing ive ever heard.. Just under my grandparents death of course I cant wait any longer!!!! MEDIA MOLECULE HOW COULD YOU???? | 2010-09-23 20:08:00 Author: Alternative_sack Posts: 409 |
This is the most upsetting thing ive ever heard.. Just under my grandparents death of course I cant wait any longer!!!! MEDIA MOLECULE HOW COULD YOU???? I think of it as a good thing actually, well at least for me. Of course, I also reserved LBP2 with only 5 dollars. The only thing that's more frustrating than waiting longer for LBP2 is having LBP2 and it being totally broken. | 2010-09-23 20:23:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
Gutted I understand fully why this has to be so. But it doesn't change the fact that I'm gutted we will have to wait longer for the only game I actually want to play | 2010-09-23 20:40:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
Meh, better to buy the game later than spend ages downloading patches for the inevitable bugs that come with an early release! I was kinda hoping I'd get a chance to use the panda smily in the post, didn't happen. =/ I couldn't BEAR to pass up the opportunity. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn65/warlord_evil/happypandaface.png http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/5/animal0064hb2_display.gif | 2010-09-23 21:01:00 Author: Blackfalcon Posts: 409 |
Anyone else in favour of turning this into a new site meme? We've had our peanuts... it's panda's time to shine http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/sad_panda.png | 2010-09-23 21:09:00 Author: KQuinn94Z Posts: 1758 |
Anyone else in favour of turning this into a new site meme? We've had our peanuts... it's panda's time to shine http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/sad_panda.png Agreed! It'd be an epic site meme | 2010-09-23 21:20:00 Author: Fish94 Posts: 554 |
I hope people don't start spamming, because lord knows that a good chunk of the comments will be poorly-written one-liners expressing personal disappointment which will contribute nothing. | 2010-09-23 21:28:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
This makes having the beta even more unbearable. I hope they have an open beta come December. | 2010-09-23 21:35:00 Author: dragonember Posts: 607 |
which will contribute nothing. It will contribute to you having cause to write a witty and sarcastic summary of the information contained in the thread | 2010-09-23 21:36:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
I just got LBP about a month and a half ago, so the delay doesnt bother me too much. I could see how ppl playing lbp for years would be chomping at the bit to play LBP2. But time spent on refinement is a positive thing in the end. | 2010-09-23 22:09:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
I do not really mind as january is when I have my birthday... And hey, you can't say no to panda! It'll be around my birthday too! And just think everyone, we'll have something really cool to do in the dead of winter. I think the timing is perfect. | 2010-09-23 22:52:00 Author: TheCountessZ Posts: 537 |
Ahh... delayed... Oh well at least we still looking forward to play LBP2 even if the release date has changed. I wonder if it has to do with the beta. | 2010-09-24 00:36:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |

Well, does that mean that all whom preordered the game will have to pay again because the date got switched? | 2010-09-24 03:24:00 Author: theonlybub Posts: 690 |
Just a quick note: You may have noticed a couple of posts have "mysteriously disappeared." In addition, I'm fairly certain not a single person is entirely happy about this news. That being said, let's try to keep the posts on-topic and limit our replies to something substantive. Feel free to write your questions/feelings/thoughts/gripes/silver linings in text, but let's leave the one-liners and captioned graphics (read: spam) on the editing room floor. Thank you! | 2010-09-24 04:48:00 Author: schm0 Posts: 1239 |
Well, does that mean that all whom preordered the game will have to pay again because the date got switched? No? It just means your pre-order is now valid for Jan 18, 2011 intend of the original. | 2010-09-24 04:53:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
Just a quick note: but let's leave the one-liners and captioned graphics (read: spam) on the editing room floor. Thank you! Sorryhttp://i54.tinypic.com/2nswtt.jpg(not really, It was worth it Mwah! ah haa) In the beta people where saying that LBP1 level weren't working properly in LBP2 could this be a contributing factor(also they are blatantly dodging the COD bullet) | 2010-09-24 10:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hi folks, can I just say something here regarding Joshua's post above. Its not just aimed at him, but as a request to all, really. I know sometimes the decisions/requests of site moderators (including myself) can come across as attempting to censor comments or limit your freedom of speech, but this is genuinely not our motivation. As some of you have noted of late, the general tone of the forums has changed a little and spamming/trolling/rudeness has been rife. This really affects people's enjoyment of the site and the quality of the overall LBPC experience. We are attempting to tackle this head on as best we can and in the process we need to tighten the belt on spam posts because that is where a lot of the trouble begins and trolling/rudeness is often where it ends (along with people receiving infractions). Whether or not you agree with it, a moderator has made a request - three posts above mine - and as you an see directly above me, Joshua has chosen to completely go against that request, deliberately. In all honesty, how can we, as site moderators, be expected to maintain any kind of effective control over the problems of this site (as we know you expect us to) when people are blatantly disrespectful of our requests? I know that panda pic wasn't all that "serious" but it highlights a general attitude which is at the root of many of this sites problems. Staff who have no respect from the people they are supposed to be looking after cannot be effective. So please, we're not asking that our word be LAW, but I do ask that you show a little consideration and support for what we are trying to do on behalf of everyone here at LBPC, even if perhaps you don't understand it or agree all the time. If the generally good folks show us no respect, why would the forum disruptors even give our requests a second thought? Just sharing my perspective and apologies for this being off-topic. | 2010-09-26 08:41:00 Author: BabyDoll1970 Posts: 1567 |
I've just realised that pushing the release date back to January was a gutsy decision on MM's part, seeing as they'll miss out on Christmas sales. It seems they don't think they need them, and to be honest they probably don't. xD http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/5/animal0064hb2_display.gif | 2010-09-26 10:46:00 Author: Blackfalcon Posts: 409 |
Somehow I feel that an open beta ensues... it might be because I read it through the awesomeglasses that LBP2 causes me. | 2010-09-26 19:59:00 Author: Unknown User |

But Anyways I Fully Approve On This Delay! 'Cause It Makes Since Why You Did It To make more pandas Does it dodging the big titles mean more sales, or does it mean less sales because of missing Christmas? http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/3380/happykf.png | 2010-10-13 16:22:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
To make more pandas Does it dodging the big titles mean more sales, or does it mean less sales because of missing Christmas? Missing Christmas, I believe, with a game like this will always mean missing sales, but I dont think the success of LBP2 depends on a holiday release | 2010-10-13 16:29:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
Nah, I believe this will give people more time to find out about the game, for those noobs on LBP who mindlessly play jump challenges and shark survivals like mindless drones, but this and christmass cancel eachother out. | 2010-10-14 01:52:00 Author: Merc Posts: 2135 |
AWWWWWWWWWWW! now i dont have anything to have 4 my birthday this year thats especialy good.(maby black opps, but lbp2 paintinates the point bubbles out of that ) oh well, if there makeing lbp2 more awsome(is that posible????) then fine with me. | 2010-11-04 16:48:00 Author: snail_po01 Posts: 85 |
