FF7: Midgar MissionChrree
A detailed remake of the Crisis Core opening with a 3D Midgar as Background!
http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/8084/p0132230910.jpg
After a whole month of hours of daily creating I finaly finished my Midgar level and I think that it's the best level I made so far! Not becuase of the lenght, the gameplay or somthing like that but because of the visuals! I'm sure this is as far as you can go at LBP1! A detailed and accurate rebuilding of the Shinra building as background, a perfect copy of the Midgar Express (unfortunatley I could only use stickers of my train which I used on a simple block of blue wood because one waggon takes about 1/6 of the thermo!) and of the Shinra helicopter, the sector 8 train station (from the beginning of Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core), enemies of the games and a material puzzle! I did the best I could to make this level entertaining though that wasn't easy because the editor is too small to make it very long. Well it's about the visuals anyway and because of that I added something you can't do without the sticker you get at the end!
The only problem with my level is that it slows down at one part because the game can hardly handle the scene but I hope you like it anyway.

Here are some pictures of my level. I will post a trailer of it later:

Oh finaly someone posted something. Where are all the people who wrote to my other thread???

Nah I guess it's because the image hoster sucks. I tried to post the pics on another forum and they didn't work at all so I had to upload them again.

There are no words to sum up the epicness.
Looks great, plays a bit slow but that's just all the glitches.
5 stars and a heart, no question.

Why the hell is no one writing anything to this thread? My old thread about this level had so much views and posts so what's about them now??? This is one of the best things I ever made and don't tell me those who were interested don't want to play it anymore....what's the problem with this forum??2010-09-24 13:24:00

Cool materia puzzle, only two minor problems I could see. You already know about the blurry textures, but since I'm so stupid I didn't know you could raise the barriers. Maybe you should add a prompt of some sort.2010-09-24 15:59:00

Awesome stuff, the background is very detailed. The "free roam" mode once you finish the level is a pretty interesting choice: It really helps to spot all of the smaller details in the background that zip by while riding on the train.

It took me a bit of time to figure out I could raise the shields on the train to protect from plasma balls lol. Other than that, it seems the image at the end (with all of the costumes) is very pixelated. Is it one big sticker containing all of the costumes? If it is, it would probably look better to have individual stickers for each costume instead.

Pretty cool stuff though, I can imagine it must have been long setting up all of those houses and lights.

Yes, I mean I didn't know how to raise the shields on the train, maybe tell us we can? I spent ages trying to run past the shinra soldiers.2010-09-25 18:21:00

Oh isn't it obvious that there are shields? I mean those things don't look like they belong to a train and everyone should notice that it's impossible to do it just like that. Well I think I will add a magic mouth later.

@Gilgamesh
Unfortunately I can't change the problem with the sticker. I already made individual stickers (I don't know how to make one big sticker with so many Sackboys on it anyway unless you take a picture of the sticker but that would make the old sticker look worse).

Ya the the whole background took ages! If I would have had less time I would still work on the Shinra building. I had to spend 4-6 hours a day to get it done and now only a few people on all the forums I posted it say anything about it.

Less than 40 people played my level so I don't think that I will make the second level. It's just not worth the effort.2010-10-03 12:36:00

Listen bro dont beat yourself up about people not posting and stuff. People will play your level and comment not everyone gets there thread blown up by comments by others. Just be happy there are people posting something about your level then nobody doing it at all.Pretty much all your doing is posting unecessary stuff and its bumping the thread just be patient comments will start to flowing in.. I just played your level and heres my feedback:

Positives:
+3D layer usage was awesome
+Train ride was pretty good
+Gameplay went smooth for me
+Helicopter liked that also

No negatives because what I'm about to say I cant penalize you for but, When you get to the part with the 5 colors I couldnt' figure out the order it goes in maybe I missed the hint? if so my bad I couldnt continue it all the way through..
Overall the level looked really good but couldnt finish :star::star::star::star:

The problem is that I also had a thread about this at the project forum and that one is old and on LBP no one shows interest either though I republish it again and again. Stupid levels like bomb survival and shark survival get a lot of response even if they suck but they don't even write bad response about my level they just ignore it. After nearly 2 months of posting about it on several forums people should finaly show some interest. Honstley I'm even impressed of the look myself and I don't get why no on cares.

About the part with the materias, ya you missed the hint I guess. It's not that difficult especially when you're an FFVII fan. In FFVII there are 5 different types of materia and they have different colores. The red one summons a bestia, the green one lets you use spells, the yellow one gives you extra abilities like 4 attacks at a time, the blue one adds effects and elements to your attacks and the purple one changes your stats like more heal points. If you don't know it just google for FFVII materias and that's it.

I though it was awesome great detail lag only a minor annoyance loved the materia puzzle! Brings back so many memorys! I think you should leave it till LBP2 comes out! That way you'll have much more access to materials and can dress sackbots in all the costumes you made!! And perhaps implement many other game mechanics? I also played a couple of your other levels which I though were pretty cool2010-10-03 21:24:00

@Jordanmcc
Thank you very much! I already thought of your ideas because I'm planing to make a remake of FFVII. I'm sure it will take ages and lots of levels but when I'm doing something like that I can't stop working on it till it's done (as long as I have enough time to work on it).

@Sabre_
I think two hints would be too much and there is nothing I could add as a hint. If I would do that it wouldn't be a puzzle anymore because you would know at once what to do. I can't change anything about the level either because I had to add stuff by adding a glitch and to change something would mean that I have to delete everything I added with the materias. Well I think people should use their brains sometimes anyway. For example I made a mechanism for my Dantes Inferno level where you just have to drag one box to a switch and the other one to a lift. It's obvious what to do and there is nothing else you can do except that but people still say "I can't solve the puzzle please add a hint."! o_O Ok, the Final Fantasy VII puzzle is much harder but when I read that people had problems solving a puzzle which is no puzzle at all I thought that's just dumb...I doubt that they could ever beat a point&click adventure or games like Silent Hill without a walkthrough...
Anyway the hint I added should be really enough because I'm already explaining the point of the puzzle and what those colored balls supposed to be. Those who can't solve the puzzle just have to google the materias. It takes just a few seconds and I tried myself. I just entered "ff7 materia" and found an explaination to every color at once. Anyway this is a FFVII fan level and only those who played the game can really appriciate the background because they know what it is so it should be no problem for them to solve the puzzle.

@All
Btw I finaly could record my level because steakmo helped me so I will post a trailer soon.

I will try this out!

Edit:
Here is what I thought:
*Nice use of glitch
*Looks great
*Gameplay is nice
*I think the material thing is a bit much and a little too hard
*Good enimies
*I gave it 4 stars

Please play my Paint Deathmatch! Level found in my sig.
