Powerup: Shield

Heyyy, I just realized... sackpeople don't have a health/defense-based powerup yet. I mean, lots of good video games have some sort of shield or something... so I thought that there should be a new powerup called the Shield (or Barrier, or Protectinator, or whatever). Basically it would make a glowing shield around the sackperson that protects it from hazards. It could tweakable in these ways:

Hits: from 1 to 10 (as well as infinite)
1-Shot: Once used, it can't be regained/regenerated by moving over the powerup again
Regenerate? (Y/N): The shield will regenerate after a certain amount of time (think Halo)


Thoughts?

Yes, I realize that a shield could be made with the current materials and logic, but wouldn't making a shield with specific health and recharge rates take up much more logic than would be necessary? And I'm talking about on the sackboy in general, the holographic material would work better with a controllinated vehicle. I just thought, for platformers, that a dedicated shield powerup would be really useful.2010-09-21 21:11:00

A general rule of thumb for suggestions is if it can be made in game with the current tools, don't suggest it as an official power up.

Just wait about a month after lbp2 comes out and there will be full health bar/shield/ etc microchips that people will share for you to use.

I was being generous. Your estimate might even be too much. For a reliable, bug fixed, polished version I would say a week for one to be published. Then its just a matter of getting it, which should be MUCH easier in LBP2 then it currently is.

Ha. I'll bet you 2xp I can get something simple (but reliable) working within about two hours. XD

Should only take an anti grav, two gyroscopes, some followers, and some holographic material to work.

I see what you're saying, but it's just a suggestion. Have a MM published dedicated sheild, (minus all the tweaking for me) just have it act like a second win, like in the sonic or crash bandicoot games. It's doesn't take much to "kill" sackboy like crash, so Why not?

I was never known for my skills as a creator(or known at all ) so I don't take your bet. I am hoping that with lbp2 I can create though. I am fairly knowledgeable on the subject, just lacked the extra creativity to make the things like movers that are now standard in LBP2
