'Tales from Steam City' Late Arrivals *SPOTLIGHTED*

'Tales from Steam City' Late ArrivalsBlanchrocker
A spin-off level from my new series Steam City, this level is set in a steampunk city in which you use your free-running skills to cross the city to reach the station before the train leaves.
This level is a spin-off to my series Steam City (Steam City 2 will be arriving for LBP2). this level is still based within Steam City, showing off different areas of the steampunk city. the level starts with you waking up late, and as a result, could miss the train, however, as a master of free-running, and expert knowledge of the city, taking shortcuts in the dangerous service tunnels, to swinging from the beautiful lights of steampunk Chinatown, u could still make it in time.As always, enjoy and please leave comments :star:

WOOOOAAAH !!!!! That level was a blast to play! Wonderful! Great visuals, pretty cool city-scape, awesome 3D-Layer-usage (the train at the end is saweeeeeeet!!!!). I loved the complete level-theme and the atmosphere you've created - I loved the "box-"section - this part was awesome. It's such a cool
idea to crush the boxes within the cogwheels - suggestion: you can see the desolvable material on the boxes that you have to crush: maybe you can sticker a cardbox-photo upon and after that the "post-box" sticker (that are already there)? The service tunnel was amazing to fly through - nice camera-setting as well. The train-rides through this city are cool and I really loved the look of the first glas-roofed apartment - this looks pretty "modern" :-) awesome design! I had a great time when you announced "R1" and after that I hang on a side-moving pipe - woah - nice! The look of the train (3D) at the end is really awesome (as I mentioned before) - great , just great! I didn't see all the areas cause I missed some prize-bubbles, so I have to play it again.

For me, this one deserves :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 and one <3 for you. I can highly recommend this level! It's a must play!

Another suggestion: maybe you can add some pics here: that will enhance the ammount of replies in this thread without a doubt!

For F4F-reasons: it would be nice when you check out my Attender-Alliance co-op level (spotlighted) in return. Hope you enjoy! Thx in advance :-)

This is a very cool level. You have created a superb steam cityscape with some great 3D work. The Chinatown section adds some colour and variety and your machines are wonderful - I loved all the sky trams and the train at the end is awesome. Oh and the glass buildngs are another very cool touch. It was a great moment when you first jump down on top of one. I half expected it to shatter.

The gameplay is good too. I enjoyed the rides through the city and the path through the service tunnels adds a nice bit of challenge.

All round a fun level to play with lots of cool steam punk eye candy. :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3

Btw did you know that your level has been recommended here on Twitter (http://twitter.com/LBP_goodlvls)?

A kind of level I like to play in this community !
The use of the 3D layer glitch is just perfect, the gameplay is smooth
The backgrounds, the lights, the atmosphere : it's a masterpiece man !
I liked espacially the part in Chinatown

I'm sorry I have nothing bad to tell about your level, maybe the music and the sound effets in background which are always the same, but it's not really a big deal comparing to the visuals and the artwork you made.

Without surprise I let :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3

I'm not sure you like my level below (less polished than yours) but I would be quite interested to know your thoughts about it, give it a try someday if you have time !

Great job anyway !

I also am very impressed with your 3D layer glitch art. The box crushing part is fun, but you can cheat by just grabbing the boxes moving to the left slightly(while holding the box) then letting go and throwing it to the left. I did it first time in just a couple seconds. I assume you wanted to extend the gameply by having ppl carry the boxes through the dropping obstacle. In all a very nice, well made level.2010-09-24 15:02:00

Actually I wondered about that too. First time I played I thought the other falling boxes were a hazard but I'm pretty sure that on a second run through I discovered they were in a different layer and you don't get caught by them at all. If that is true (I may be wrong) then it would be cool to make the falling boxes lethal somehow to add a bit of challenge.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful, positive comments, as for the boxes, it wouldn't be hard to lethalise them, but it would require a bit more of the thermometer, which im afraid i dont have, 1 more decoration puts it into overheat , but i will definately include something like that in my next 'Tales' series level, thank you all once again 2010-09-24 17:07:00

I played your level last night, and I thought it was incredible!

-
I usually start by listing some negatives, but I really can't think of any.
+
I liked the opening room, especially the mario bros. picture above the bed. I almost didn't catch it, that was a nice touch.
The design style is top notch, and your use of the 3-D glitch is awesome, especially since I didn't notice any slowdown.
The jetpack gameplay was cool. Since the water and paintguns have come out, it seems like it is rare to see a really good jetpack section, and yours was great.
The gameplay is really smooth, everything seems to flow together in a nice way. Also, it never got frustrating.
The object bubbles were all in good positions, I had to play a second time to find them all.

Great level.

You can play the level in my sig if you want to give me some feedback.

Here some photos of the level. They don't do justice to the visuals really but will at least give people a flavour of itl. I also got one of the train at the end which I'll upload later. EDIT: Done! Feel free to put them in the first post if you want.

Played both Steam Cities. 5*/H on both, and a big 'ol AH for you, too. (Though I went to Chapter 1 right after and my, you have grown.)

The radio transmission is currently censored. "Happened" and "Computer" are two common English words that are frequently censored by LBP's multilingual smut filter. Put spaces in the words, or * out the initial e in happened/u in computer. I also substitute "took place" for "happened".

I pushed all the boxes straight off the ledge without aiming. Still works.

Gunsmithe's Workshop is definitely worth the play, too, FWIW.

The Portalist Review!

Just played your map, got Third on the scoreboard, i loved it. I have no idea how the 3D layer glitch is done and im still in basic logics so this kind of thing is awesome for me!

Pros:
- Awesome background
- Decent Level Lenght
- The electrical sewer puzzle

Cons:
- I honestly can't think of any currently.

I give it a :star::star::star::star::star: And a <3

Thank you for this map, if you have the time please check out my map, LBP: Portal 2 (Co-Op) From Portalist.

I just played this level and I'm amazed on how much detail you put in this level. The city design is excellent and the gameplay works really well as you explore around this steampunk metropolis with many obstacles. The end of the level looked brilliant too as you see an amazingly detailed train. Overall this level deserves 5 stars and a heart.

Play and F4F any one of "The Hero Chronicles" levels. I think you'll like "LV6 Sky Metropolis".

Just played your level and enjoyed it very much.

Awesome gameplay, very diverse and fun. More than just platforming, this really feels like an adventure.

Visuals were top notch, very nice use of 3d glitch. Great usage of decorations. I really like how you traverse through different areas of the city (like: the underground tunnels and the stunning china town), something new around every turn, yet it all fits together.

Small stuff: I was able to get stuck in the glass-domed house, to the far right, behind some furniture I think. Had to pop to get out.

All in all: a deserved 5 :star: and <3.

If you're up for F4F, please give my level Kurtz and the Dead City of Fabul (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=30621-Kurtz-and-the-Dead-City-of-Fabul) a try

Sorry to hear about your PS3.

Great level, I had lots of fun.
I really liked those curved glass parts on some of the buildings.
Makes me wonder if I should use 3D glitch in my city level..
Only negative was I got squished between the barrels in chinatown.

5 stars + heart!

Wow just amazing. I love the whole steam punk style and your levels do this style justice. Your models are amazing and i like to see story mixed into peoples games even if they aren't big stories it helps the whole atmosphere of the thing.

The only thing i can think to suggest is to make some parts where you use a camera or movie camera to maybe just zoom in a little more on some of the scenes and models just so that we can get a better look at the detail you have put into these games. But no need to if you don't want to i think mayby i just need a bigger TV.

You definatley deserve a heart for each of these levels.
