Hello all,

Well, this level has been 5 months in the making and features some effects that I haven't seen anywhere else.

It was published last night. I hope you all get a chance to check this out - the comments that I have receieved on the level have been quite nice.

If you played and liked The Dream Catcher - than you're sure to like the Dream Catcher II - which is bigger and better.

I hope you enjoy it.

Okay, I played the level and here's what I thought.

I loved the introduction with the words spinning around and the lighting effect with the burnt wall behind it, looked really beautiful. I also thought the rain effect was also great. The visuals in this level were great, when going in the cave past the skeleton guy, I loved how it was so open like a real cave(maybe I just like places with a lot of room, not so cramped ) and then the part after that part,(aka around picture 3) going deeper into the cave as it became even more open and the look changed some. Every part has good visuals. When you meet the creature with the pipes rotating, the first thing it says goes by kinda fast(maybe I was just distracted by icecream truck music passing by) but the rest were good at least for me. I liked watching me travel through that ball and thought the gameplay of this level was great although after the part when it said it;s playing tricks on your mind, it got kinda frustrating swinging over, but tha's probably just because of my inpatience somtimes . Speaking of gameplay, I liked the different little races you incorporated like the little triangle race, that was short but fun. Oh and might wanna put an arrow pointing left for those that may get conused at the end when you free the guy. Also, I loved the story throughout, awesome job, really kept me wanting to keep playing. Overall, I had to give this one :star::star::star::star: and a <3 Great job

The wait is finally over . The sequel to the level that has some of the best glitches I've ever seen. This level has even better glitches than the first and it was like I've have never seen such cleverly great visions like this level before as it is well made with decorations especially the ones that you used for dreaming purpose and some odd tours that took you to strange dimensions. The only flaw of this level is the censorship speeches and some confusion about the long jump part that I forgot that there's an electrified balloon to carry [You should somehow add a small object at the bottom of the balloon to know you should hold on to it but that's okay you put an speech about it]. Overall this is the best "use of decoration glitch" level ever. 5 :star:s and a <3.2010-09-22 06:23:00

Thank you both very much - I'm so very glad you enjoyed it.

I spent days and weeks working on the effects alone (months to implement them into the level - you wouldn't believe how many different combinations I've tried, different sizes, different lighting, different angles, etc. to get the effects that you see in Dream Catcher II.

The level does seem to be a bit glitchy unfortunately, but, most people don't seem to have issues - or major issues.

Creating this level was plain exhausting - I think I'll be taking a break til LBP2. Whew!

Thanks again to both of you for playing the level and your comments.

No problem, yeah, the visuals were great. I can't wait to see what you'll do with effects in LBP2 2010-09-22 16:13:00

Just an update - I published my level - but then had to move.

I am finally back online and it was great to log back into LBPCentral and check out the latest spotlight - and see my level listed!

Anyway, thanks to the two people who played my level in this thread. Haha. And thanks to the spotlight team for giving my level the nod.

Lagtastic!
lag?tas?tic
–adjective
1.
conceived or appearing as if conceived by an unrestrained imagination; odd and remarkable; bizarre; grotesque: fantastic rock formations; fantastic designs at the cost of framerate.

Yeah, so hate lag, but it's only minor in this level, and well worth enduring to see the effects.
My biggest problem was attempting to identify what was hazardous or not (having gas as an effect and hazard, some plasma/electricity is fine to walk on/etc, worked hard not to die, then got gas teleported anyway), but I guess that's part of the level.
Also had some unexplained deaths/layer switching etc, but like I said, it's a very minor element.
I was most impressed with those decorations early and late in the level that seemed to switch layers as they rotated around a thick layer object. Another powerup remover trick?

Btw, in part one, there is a visible music box (POTC one) and some visible pistons on most of your angels.

I played it and LOVED it! The storyline you have going is nice, too! The effects are...wow. I didn't even think effects like that were possible in LBP. I especially like how you made the rain in one scene. I was able to see what you used to do it Clever.

Rated 5 stars and heart! ...At least I HOPE it hearted. The servers were running slow that night

Thank you - as for the remover trick - I'm not sure which part you are referring to - but yes, everything use the powerup remover - of course, lighting and resizing and blending all play a big part in the effects.

Thank you, I'll check that out.

Thank you very much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Someone, (the_pinkpanther) left a comment and said, "LBPC will spotlight anything" - which, I thought was a bit rude, since he seemed to have an issue with the spotlight team. If he didn't like some part of my level, he never mentioned it.

My levels aren't the best - but at least they are original. That doesn't make them good, but hopefully, it can at least be respected.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who played and to all that have commented here - I know a lot of you are creators as well, so you know how nice it is to receive feedback.

Thank you very much for the congrats - I agree, the spotlights are definitely a highlight of this site. LBPC has really done a great job of picking up the ball that MM dropped (they used to highlight levels they thought were something special). It's great to have this level among the spotlighted since it took so long to make (5 months).

Hope you enjoy it, although, I will say (and to anyone else reading this), I'll apologize in advance, the level seems to be glitchy. Some people have reported issues (getting stuck in the Sea of Light), that I simply can't replicate. Seems to be a random event and not prevelant, so I can't work on a fix.

Also, the level is VERY massive, I am considering breaking it up into two parts and rereleasing - I'm hoping more people will see the ending this way since I feel it has some grand effects.
