| Contests, we need piles of contests every month with the grand prizes being crowns. | LBPC doesn't need to do contests, after all this isn't and LBP fan site, this is a site of people that just so happen to play LBP. The majority of stuff that happens here has nothing to do with lbp. Well I lie, the majority of threads are LBP thread but you know. | Most folks that want contests because they want enough to enter and win a crown. They don't want to run the contest.. they just want them so they have a shot at a prize. There are less folks that want to run contests as it is quite a bit of work... Personally, I just don't like the crown frenzy of winning one in a contest and never bothered entering any of them. To me it is more the thought that counts of getting one than to actually have one. To be honest, if you do quite a bit of community work without even the thought of getting a crown, one will come your way one day. It may take quite awhile, but if you do something that Mm is constantly amazed by, you just might get a visit from Santa Spaff. Then there was the LBL contest where everyone kicked off because Mniska won, all the LBW crown contests where at least someone has a hissy fit every month just to give Steven and the other judges a headache.... | Well, I don't have a crown, but there are other fun competitions to get involved with here. For example, there's the Caption Contest (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36149-The-Caption-Contest-Round-43), the Pod Design contest (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36177-The-Pod-Design-Contest-4) and if level comps are more your thing, check out Morgana25's Halloween Spooktacular (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=35752-Halloween-quot-Spooktacular-quot-Level-Design-Contest-2!) in Community Contests. That was mega good last year. The admiration and respect of the awesome LBPC community is as good a prize as a crown, in my opinion. Crown competitions are far too divisive for my liking. | That said, most of us have crowns already. Lies. Personally, winning a crown from a contest isn't my thing. Lots of people get them that way. Not that i'm after a crown anyways. | Now I see why this site is so scared of hosting crown contests. It's true people will throw tantrums for not winning a piece of digital mechandise. I hate having to enter a contest just to get a crown. Isn't there a such thing as someone receiving a crown for a level they made (not for a contest)? If so, name one or two. Also, what other ways are there to win one? | We're not scared of hosting them. And yes, there are other ways to get crowns other than competitions. Two cases here at LBPC - xkappax who was awarded a crown for an LBP related animation she made and Morgana25, for general excellence (I think that's what it was for - can't recall if there was a specific title attached... help, Morgana?). So competitions are definitely not the only way to get them. I'm sure there are plenty more examples than those I've offered. Mm do not hand crowns out lightly (or frequently) and so, yes, there are plenty of people here and elsewhere in the LBP universe that deserve one, who may never get one. But that's why I don't think people should put too much stock in receiving one as proof of their worth as a creator. DX" and so on, may I remind you the Crown is meant to be a rare item. In case you don't understand, that means its not to be given out to everyone, what's the point of calling something "rare" if everyone has one? O_o 2 - Believe me, I know plenty people with Crowns, and I rarely see them wear it or use it, most say the Crown is no big deal. And I mean sure you'll wear it lot at 1st, but then you'll just leave it in your inventory and forget it like if it was any other item most likely, I mean, how many actual costumes can be really made well with a crown? Most people just prefer to use their regula costumes than to wear the crown m8. So don't worry about it too much, I know it seems like a hughe deal, but I've seen it really isn't. Its nice, sure, but nothing worth geting mad/ depressed about if you don't have one really... Now since you 'really want contests" and seem to think they're so easy to organize, why don't you orginize some yourself? | hey, just a question... how do MM give the crown to you? bye e-mail or a message on PSN? Sony will never contact you over PSN message, and they will never ask for you password. If you recieve any such message you should report the PSN ID. That being said if you dont have the box ticked that allows emails from SCE then you wont be getting a crown I don't think. There could be crowns for big achievements and medals for smaller ones... And I would have to create a whole new costume if I got a crown, and I would probably only wear it to show off... To use it for a while only to be bankrupt sooner or later? Nothing good comes from crowns. | I don't desire a crown, nor do I think they have to be prizes for contests here, but I would like to see more contests. They're really great chances to show off the talent here at LBPC. Talent that I want to see showcased. Maybe: 1. Seasonal Contests- In terms of a contest every three months, but NOT based upon the seasons... Ha! Or 2. Two-Month Contests- Just a contest every two months. The problems as said before, is that noone wants to run them and the Community Contest thread doesn't always get a ton of traffic. I ran a contest a while back, and it suffered (a little) because of the few entries and slower traffic. It lasted for almost 2 months, and got 4 short entries. We need a better way to promote our contests, other than sigs and threads, and we just need some dedicated people to run them.
