Although dying is the wrong word.

Well, months ago we didn't know that LBP2 existed, so threads on LBP2 being made now kinda make sense...2010-09-19 20:57:00

I haven't noticed a serious change, but the forums have gotten slightly more "spam-y". I think it is all the new people joining- with more people, even if a small percentage of them are not as well behaved, that is still a significant amount. It will be okay... I hope... 2010-09-19 21:05:00

Oh now.... lol.

There are some that whine here and there, but I think that is far from the real truth here. There are a ton of really really nice folks here. We have just gotten so big that the whiny ones are more noticeable. They either figure it out and grow up a bit or leave after a time.

I've seen a Forum die, and LBPC is not giving signs that it will follow the same path... Signs that a forum is dying are:
- Many "veteran" members abandoning the forum;
- Nobody wanting to post;
- No new threads. (LPBC is still getting threads, some are spammy but still)

I would say that it's a turbulence related to the beta release and November 16th getting close. Remember when they were about to release the codes, the massive wave of people joining only to see if they can get a beta code?
I'm sure that, after LBP2 is released, the forum will be like it was before.

In my experience, anything you're involved in is pretty much whatever you make it. All sorts of things can be going on around you but you can either choose to let that ruin your fun, or you can choose to stay positive, focus on the good things and continue to do what is required to keep a forum a friendly and happy place - like helping out new members, posting feedback in the Level Showcase (I know it's been a lot quieter in there since our membership erupted.. just so many levels, but do what you can, y'know?) and also joining and participating in forum discussions and social groups.

The social groups are a lot quieter in general but I think that's because so many new people have joined LBPC and rather than latch on to an existing, thriving social group, they start their own and so people are scattered a lot more. I'd like to see more of a return to some of our core social groups (insert subliminal advertisement for the Fun & Friendly Group), but nevertheless, I have a great time in the ones I belong to and that's what I choose to focus on. The people I mix with here are just wonderful. Our forum's been going through a lot of change - as all things must - and we will come out the other side in excellent form. So just dig in and enjoy, and do your bit to keep the essence of LBPC alive

Well... as you said in your first post, look on the bright side. Ignore the spammy stuff, help those to see the light or better yet, simply report those threads. Those members will either grow tired, grow up, or leave. As BabyDoll said, this site is what you make of it and truthfully I ignore the stuff that depresses me or simply report it to have the mods come in with the mops.

..I hate to say it, but just from making this post you dwell on the negative and don't celibate all the positive stuff out there. Pardon the cheesy mentions.. but like the Caption Contest and the Creator Spotlights. Those are two really fun areas that I am very proud to be a part. They make people smile and help folks forget about all the negative stuff...

So get involved in the good stuff!!! There is tons of great stuff out there in threads, some in groups and some in contests! ..or just help me say hi to new members. Keep the positive and kill off the negative by rising above it all.

well I an newish to lbpc and I have noticed a more polite and intelligent community than you can find normally on the web. This beta business is just forcing the sludge to the top. I will say this everywhere else is pure whining beta spam. try the ps forum on that subject or lbw(ug)2010-09-20 15:36:00
