Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

First of all, sorry if it is already posted here.

The trailer!

Anyway... I tried the demo to the game and got amazed! The controls were fluid, the story was tingling and the gameplay was enjoyable.
A bit of :/ on the varying graphics though as they switch from amazingly done to kind of low-tech. At some point it looks like Uncharted and in the next scene a few elements suddenly became kind of 2nd division.
I felt a bit of nostalgia and enjoyment as it combined a lot of my previous game experiences. The swinging motions with the staff reminds me of Sly, while the environments feel a tiny bit like Uncharted. At some point I even felt Jak (and Daxter) was there somewhere.
Anyway, must buy for me

Out 8th of October I think!

Reminds like a futuristic-apocalyptic Uncharted.

It looks like a pretty good game!

I was gunna make a thread on this myself. I came away extremely impressed from the demo considering I hadn't heard anything about it. Worth a download for sure! I would buy it but I'm skint.2010-09-19 01:08:00

The game is quite good, not satisfied by the responsiveness of the controls, but yeah it seems very good.
I already pre ordered it and will arrive with Dead Rising 2 and Castlevania and I really think Enslaved will be played after I'll have platinumed Castlevania.

Not impressed. Platforming controls are too fiddly. You can't even jump forward, youu have to be near an edge.

Uncharted FTW

Yes, sure it's a bit too railed, but I think it will be a good game worth of playing anyway.

I agree with you Talbot, I am not a big fan of not being able to jump at all (except near edges), though sometimes they do tend just ridicule it, like Dante's Inferno, where (at least in the demo) you could DOUBLE JUMP even though you were just a normal human. I won't let such details bug me though 2010-09-20 16:36:00

It's just not that though, I just can't afford a game that bugs me, even a little. 2010-09-20 21:52:00

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
I started playing this one yesterday.
First thing I have to say is that I started it soon after finishing Castlevania: Lords Of Shadows, a game that puts to shame a good 90% of games of this generation.

Enslaved looks very good, mostly for the artistic direction, since it suffers from the all the common problems of Unreal Engine 3, so textures that looks awesome at distance and a mess at close look and bad loading times of textures.
As I said the artistic direction is awesome and the game looks very detailed and vibrant, but a bit eye-soring since it appears really contrasted.
The animations, facial expressions and dubbing are top notch, as it should be the story, that already appears (I'm at the beginning of chapter 4) enough intricate and deep.
What is really a mess are the controls.
They are somewhat clunky , just like Assassin's Creed, and there's only one button (X) for the acrobatic actions, that means that if you press it while fighting you dodge, while near an obstacle you jump over it, and if you're close to a ledge you grab it/swing it/etc...
I found this decision already questionable per se, but the problems come when you have to jump over something and the game doesn't allow you to do it unless you're in the correct spot facing the correct angle. BAD BAD BAD
Anyway I really like the forced co op mechanics the game has, even if sometimes they slow down the pace a little too much.

It may seem that this game is lame, but I assure you it's not, but I'm really a bit spoiled after Castlevania.
Enslaved is a game that deserves to be played, but for now I don't think it's a game worth the full price.
A price drop is very likely since the game has sold very poorly, in the order of 80000 copies, but I think that most people is really boycotting Ninja Theory for the DmC affair (as a fan I was tempted to boycot them, as a gamer I decided to give them a chance)

You are not the only one, I played the demo for Heavenly Sword (for a very long time ago, though I still remember) and I did notice the hair in particular looks quite the same. Well, the developer made both games did it not?

Oh, I finished it...
The game took me not more than 6 hours of lazy gaming, so that means that can be ended in 4 and a half/5 hours.
The game has been highly praised for the story, but...hmm...well, the story is a bit cliched but it's told really well, even if I don't see this grounbreaking new frontier that some mentioned.
Death always arrives because the camera is not appropriate or the controls are clunky.
What I have to say is that there are really cool action sequences, and the whole artistic direction is really really REALLY good.

Again, the game deserves to be played at least once, but never buy it for the full price.

I bought it today and played it for a bit, and I must say I am impressed by it! I think I have fallen in Love with the graphics, I find them so mesmerizing and beautiful! I think the camera angles Are no big deal, as a person who loves stories I just keep imagining how this could have been a book (and the game is loosely based on a book as well) and all the well-thought out details in the game.
Controls I agree are a bit clunky, but that is the only bothering bit to me (at least for now)

Enslaved: Odyssey to the west, was a game I do not care about before he came out. Ad annoyed me in this game and honestly I saw no entertainment value. It was of course until I played it. I say, it's a top notch game. Great action sequences, a dynamic control scheme, beautiful surroundings, awesome sound and voice acting, plus a good story and the characters and the game action platforming game a definite buy for any fan can be connected. Like many throwbacks to the level as some of the classic PoP level and takedowns seem to think the move reminiscent of the Sands of Time Prince: The game seems very reminiscent of Prince of Persia. However, to say the game is it's own personality is not. The only thing I can think detracts from the overall length of the game, my first playthrough 8-10 hours to get around. However, gameplay's quality, I know it's a game I will play through several times. Overall, I give it a 9 / 10 will have to score. If not buy one, I would recommend at least renting it and at least one time playing through.2010-11-11 05:49:00
