PS Move and LBP: the possibility of making full-move games.

Archive: 20 posts

Let me first state that Yes, I understand what the Move is (supposed to be) used for in LBP2 and How it is supposed to be used.
...

Yesterday, I picked up my PSMove bundle and played some it games ...etc. Now, when I went to play LBP1, I had left my move on. And since I had connected it before turing on my DS3 previously, it was (in practice) player 1.

Since it can still (to some degree) act as a full DS3, LBP1 saw it like a regular controller. (This mean my charachter was linked to the Move controller, however, the Move only contains the standard buttons X, Sq, Tri, and O, but I was able to use these.

Also note: The 'Move button' serves the exact same function as 'X'.

Now, I am unsure if LBP2 will be able to see the Move in the same way while also seeing it as a motion device.

But if It can see it as both, you could force the player into a DCS and then use the Move function to do stuff as well as have access to the standard 4 buttons. (T button is not seen as a normal right-side trigger). This could mean that while using the Move stuff (whatever it will be, I am supposing either a material or some switch-thing) That we might be able to make a basic motion game with 4 buttons+motion other than just moving stuff with the Motion function.

I *might* get the Nav today, but if anyone else has it yet, could they see if it is recognized as a normal controller and how it interacts with LBP1?

Just speculation of what was observed in LBP1 at this point, But it might lead to the possibility for some interesting stuff.

EDIT: SInce the beta embargo has been lifted, can someone please test this on it? Big thanks if you do! (Please also test the DCS with this, Nav too if you have one!)

It certainly sounds like a great idea, and I sure hope Mm includes something like this when they release LBP2.... A bit off-topic, but is the Move good? If so, I plan on pestering my parents about it, 'cause my birthday is next month 2010-09-18 15:24:00

Its not really something to add as something for them to avoid preventing. Unless you mean a full Move-DCS - which would be win.

Its not perfect (duh) but it is by far the best thing out there. I likez.

Not meaning to burst any bubbles... but Move compatibility will not be available in the beta...

On a lighter note, great find fish!

No, thats not the point. The point is, does LBP2 still allow the PSMove to be used in place of a regular controller (LBP1-style, where only the 4 buttons work)....

Oh, and Ty, I guess.

Hm... perhaps Mm should add Movers the option to get fed by the Move conterller's magical moving function. The most obvious one being a cursor, as the LBP1 Move support will have (or is it for LBP2?)

[/off-topic]

Since LBP uses mainly just the cymbol buttons, R1 and the left stick... it just might work... creating is another thing...

[off-topic]

So... has anyone seen any Move controllers sold separately, instead of being bundled with the PSEye? I'll book a flight there

There seems to be a glowy material (or light material with some special tweaker) that can be moved by cursor. (Move support only coming to LBP2)

I'm actually getting move just for LBP2. Ok, not really. It's just a very big reason for me to get it.

But, I can't help thinking that what if hardly anyone else gets it?

Updated a tad. it seems the Move button is just a bigger X button.

Does anyone have the nav? Can some one please try this with their nav? Thanks!

I like your idea but then some people couldn't pass certain parts because they don't have the Move controller..

So.. Then every level needs a tag if you need the move or not and that would be VERY annoying..

So? Your opinion doesn't matter at this point... It has ready been confirmed we will get an after-release Move DLC pack. Sorry....?

I highly doubt that you would not be able pass certain parts of the levels in lbp2. It will probably not be related to DCS at all.2010-09-19 07:44:00

Yes, but I don't want this Turning into 'I don't want the move in LBP2 because of X thing'. Sorry if it was said harsh.

Hm... having the Move just as a cursor... I wonder if it can be made invisible... and is it Magne Key/Emitter friendly?

I wonder if the Nav could act as a normal Sackbot controller... it has all the functions except arm moving (how many L buttons did it have?)...
