Antigravity Material Glitch in LittleBigPlanet

Archive: 7 posts

I found a way to make any material(including dark matter!) act like a very heavy version of Pink Floaty. Here's how to do it:

Head into Create mode and pick a blank canvas to start from.
Make a block of some material(I used glass, but others work) and set it down on the ground.
Make another block of whatever material you want to modify and place it down on top of the first block.
Glue the second block to the first block.
Pause the physics and whip out the Node Editor tool.
Use the node editor tool to separate the first block(the one on the bottom) from the second one. If the blocks are simple squares or rectangles, just grab the top right and top left nodes and bring them down to make a gap between the two blocks.
Unpause the physics. If all has gone correctly, your object should now be floating in mid-air. You can interact with it, and it should float around like gravity has no effect.

Sometimes, after performing this glitch, a material refuses to move at all. The good part about that is, unlike the anti-gravity properties, the "dark matter-like" property sticks around when you save the level. This way, if you can manage it, you can make a material unmovable without Dark Matter. It's really weird, this glitch, but it's fun to mess around with.

intresting... do you think this was unintended? or possibly made on pourpus... if unintended, how do you think the physics figure to make it float?2008-10-26 05:54:00

Very strange
I wouldn't personally use it though in a level encase MM realise and put a fix for it later in a patch which will mess up any level you have made with this technique

Hmmm. On a small scale, this wouldn't be too big of a deal, but when you have to start doing some hardcore thermometer management... good find!2008-10-27 00:24:00
