The Honey Hive 3: Inside the Honey Factory (part 2 of 2)SX_shookie99
The final honey hive is out now. Make your way through the factory, take out a few drone bees, save the Queen, and finally put an end to the evil and sinister Stickmandude.
That's right, the final honey hive is out now! You don't want to miss out on what people are saying is the best honey hive in the series. The classic gameplay is back with more twists and turns. Drone bees will try and stop your progress, but a few friendly bees along the way will help you out. Why are you still reading this? You should bee cranking up the ol' ps3 now! Oh and plenty more bee puns along the way. Also, there is real psn Stickmandude, and he is one of my best sack buddies too so its all in fun. And dont forget to put on your bee-est and most bee-autiful bee outfit for this one folks. I hope you enjoy it. and as always, feedback is greatly appreciated. The computer I am using is super slow and wont let me load pictures. If anyone could load some pics if they play it that would be awesome. Sorry. There is also a video on youtube you can check out as well (again, i cant upload the video just like the pictures) the video is courtesy of gilgamesh.

Okay, played it and here's what I thought.

Like always, I love your honey theme, very unique and never seen it in any other levels, well except your previous honey hive levels . Another thing I loved is how you add some new gameplay things like on the boxes on the conveyor belt, loved that and the different signs like for honey, nectar and pollen. A bee-utiful level with nice humor although the bosses you fight before Stickmandude aren't very detailed, might wanna work on that but they're still fun to battle although each of them has the same way to defeat them, shoot and hide from the plasma. Like usual, I liked how you had a great quantity of points, neatly spread in honeycomb shapes to fit the theme and the challenge was great. The final boss seemed kinda hectic and a tad bit messy, might wanna work on that but overall, it's still a great level yet again showing some nice gameplay and a very unique style although the boss battles need some tweaking.

Suggestions
------------------
1. I still think you have some thermo left after getting to see the level being made in create. If you could try changing the looks and having a different way to defeat each one, that'd really boost the ratings.
2. Maybe work on the final boss also but at least work on the 1st suggestion

But this was still a great ending, maybe for those still craving more honey hive goodness, a........survival challenge? But that's up to you :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 Brilliant job shookie.

Also, since I played this quite a while ago and if you haven't noticed, was mentioned on my blog about a week ago

Excellent work on not just this level but the rest of the series. This level has such great use of jetpacks, paintinators, and the honey cup launchers and the gameplay works really well. The visuals looked unique too and really has the honey look. The only thing that seems to bug me is the one shot paintinator energy switch that sometimes the obstacles of it don't seem to work when it hits zero but it's no biggie. Overall all the "Honey Hive" earns a well deserve 5 stars and a heart.2010-09-18 17:42:00

Thanks sackracer. That's my favorite section too. I have been thinking about making a sur-hive-al challenge using that part of the level. Gotta finish up some other projects first.2010-09-25 19:35:00

Hehe, sur-hive-al, but yeah, that'd be a great little thing to add for those who just want one more dose of honey hive goodness! 2010-09-25 20:38:00

Less of more of the same, which is good. I felt the previous three levels could have been compacted into one great level, instead of three good levels.
The first shoot the switch got annoying since I accidently grabbed onto the switch when I failed the jump, having to go all the way back to get the gun and do it over again. I would place the gun between the bee and the switch.
Conveyor belts where nice (I would hide them emitting btw), but I felt the transition from the bottom belt to the one above was quite annoying with the camera.
Some spinning hexagons you can grab (thick) and some you can't (thin). Can be confusing if the player is trying to react quickly.
Cutscene magic mouths still stop bubble combos, like in the other hive levels.
The bad/black/guard bees wern't very challenging (just point and shoot), and the same case with the boss.
You can't exactly react in time to the plasma, and you can shoot the right claw/shooter from the checkpoint, free from danger.
I don't think you ever introduced the stickmandude character (I've played your hive levels), which is rather confusing/annoying from a story point of view. Plus he wasn't exactly a stick man, just a regular sackboy. From the level images I see it's a PSN username. I would prefer a bad bee or a spider, something along those lines.
Instead of a stiff piston for the bee movement, try attaching string/elastic to a rotating circle (above, out of sight) for more natural movement. I think some ghosts do this in MM's story mode.
Good, but like most levels, could be better.
