Is that water?

Archive: 25 posts

In a LittleBigPlanet prototype video, you can clearly see ice floating on?wait for it?water. This really opens up the possibility of water in the final game. Hopefully they add it, as it could create a whole new dimension for level creation. So, what do you guys think?2008-08-02 02:32:00

lol, that was craftworld (the prototype) and as you can see - is very different from LBP now. So we'll have to wait and see - but this shows it's been in their minds for a long time. it's just more difficult in 2.5D2008-08-02 02:58:00

yeah i'm sure they are aware of the fact that water would be cool for the game, but they also know that the inclusion of it would be very difficult for them. so they will wait and see if the community really wants and needs it to make their levels.

side note: we never see what happens to the guy if he hits the water...hmmmm?

True - he could of drowned!
That makes me think - if they included water i'd love it if they included deadly water too.
But on the note of the water... how do you think they would do it? They could make the water 2D as such so whatever layer it's in... it will stay in and can just be minipulated in that layer. Or they could make it 2.5D where it was fall out of the side... and to stop this happening you have to put glass there. Would definatly be more realistic, but much more of a challenge for them.

I don't think this is an indication of water for certain. As mentioned before, the two games are vastly different.2008-08-02 11:59:00

Lets hope theres water, or atleast a water substitute.

Or my dreams of creating an underwater dungeon would be shattered.

Not nescassarily... You could make cardboard thin and cut like waves of water for the top of the level... then make it all looke very underwater like for the level.

Yes it was.
For all we know, someone could be planning to make a level made of nothing but cardboard cut-outs.

They said something about dissolvable things attached to switches lol...I'd so love to put a switch right at the end of a level, have someone open it, and they get washed back to the beginning!2008-08-05 20:38:00

Just for future notice, I think you meant "mechanisms". I'm not trying to be rude, just trying to help.

I saw a video where someone put small cylinders of glass together, and essentially made water, but it wasn't that good 2008-08-06 12:32:00

that was water, but there was no physics to the water, no interaction... look at the video, all the water knows to do is to sit there, and the "ice" is just told to float ontop of that texture... that's why water wasent introduced into lbp, because water dident even really "work" on the demo that was previewed... besides, water is really hard to duplicate ingame... th physics is very hard to get right, and if it's done really good, even the ps3 won't be able to handle it... liquids are very hard to accomplish on computers, especially if you try to make it realistic...2008-08-08 09:28:00

I think your wrong.. water is being planned for lbp and the ps3 can certainly handle it. check out this game (http://www.bladeinteractive.com/hydro.php)
