I'd say the rule for songs is they can't be about rude subjects, and they shouldn't be to popular/mainstream. What I liked about the first LBP's music is that I'd only ever heard one of the songs from story mode (I forget what its called but the kids show Smart used to use it a lot) and the others were all new to me. So basically, no bieber/kanye/gaga/cyrus/insert popular singer here

Owl City would be a really good fit for LBP2. An instrumental from just about any of his songs would be great, especially Fireflies and Hello Seattle.
