Crystal Caverns

In this glorious grotto of crystal, many a sackperson have found themselves tantalized by these amazing beauties. The teeming beauty could very be a harbinger of pure bliss.
This is a relaxing crystal cave-like level. It's about average length due to the darn thermometer. I also used some elements I learned from Lockstitch in the level, things like moving platforms and such. I tried to get everything as bug-free as possible, and I think it's about perfect as far as that goes. Please leave feedback, I appreciate all comments regarding whatever issues, or successes you may face!

Note: I'll try and get back on any comments as soon as I can but I've had a lot trouble with my internet and sometimes it won't even allow me to reply to any posts.

Thanks again!

EDIT:

Lots of levels with the word Caverns/Cave being made (Mine being one of them)
Sure are, I felt I'd try one out because I think they sometimes are some of the levels with the best visuals. And I was originally trying a level with a more sky/cloud kind of look, but it wasn't turning out so well.

@MetaHybrid: Thanks a ton for the great feedback , I'll go try to add some more ambience with more sound effects and hopefully make the scoreboard have a little more grandeur to it.

@miltonTPS: Thanks a bazillion, theres nothing like getting that warm fuzzy feeling from getting great feedback like that. All I can really say is thanks.

@shropshirelass: Funny that I'm doing exactly what you told me not to do, but every time I try to post a reply, my browser crashes, I've tried it on other browsers, but for some reason it doesn't want to work with me, so, alas, I have to edit my post over, and over. But more importantly, thanks for a nice review!

Played your level last night Jayhawk, I will say it was pretty good.

The lights, the crystals you made, the layering, they all made it feel like it really was a crystal cavern, so I was really happy just walking through the level admiring it. The plaforming was fun, and so was the bubble points combos which there was plenty of. Also some secrets that I was happy to find you put in. The cavern changing, like Stalactite's feeling down was cool, and I liked how it changed from a blue crystal cavern to a red one.

I think what you can add is some sound effects to the level. I felt it was too quiet when I was playing. Some ambient noises like wind, or cavern like noises would be good. I also think the ending came too sudden. The scoreboard took me by surprise. I was hoping for some giant crysta or to look at while I was waiting for it to ask me if I wanted to replay the level or continue, instead it was a small enclosed area that came out of nowhere.

I believe I gave it :star::star::star::star::star:

Hopefully others will play it and give you more feedback.

This was such a great level! Played it earlier today, and loved every platforming minute of it! I honestly can't think of anything I didn't find exceptional throughout... the layering was great, nice lighting & visuals, layer blocking was present at the part where the blue theme meets the red theme at the scenic crystal part, no cheap deaths...hmmm everything I look for in a good solid platformer. In the comments, you said you had help from Lockstitch, but it looks like a new hybrid of what I would imagine would be both of your styles of gameplay (after playing your other key-linked level) rolled up into one. This was noteworthy, and can't wait to see whats next!2010-09-22 02:35:00

Lovely level! It played beautifully - the gameplay worked very smoothly and had great flow. You made good use of the layers and I loved the Lockstitch style moving platforms. The caverns looked gorgeous with lovely lighting and material choices and changing from the blue green colour theme to the red one kept the whole thing fresh. It just had a really nice feel to it.

A well deserved :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart.

Btw, just a tip - you don't need to keep editing the first post to reply to the feedback people have left in the thread. You can post a reply yourself in the thread. It's only double posting (i.e. posting twice in succession yourself) without a good reason which is frowned on.

Thank you for the nice comments everyone, sorry I couldn't actually post a real reply early, but I appreciate all the wonderfully nice reviews you've all given! 2010-11-04 04:17:00

Holy Toledo!! You have made an absolute beautiful level. I actually was not planning on playing this one, but after your Jungle Beat Junction level I was curious to see what else you had. Once again, fantastic with using the layering. The game play was excellent and had some great components. The minor earthquake in the cave was something I had planned to do in my upcoming level and couldnt quite figure out how to implement it - now I need to find something else unique to do with it

I have no problems, issues or even suggestions for this one. Beautiful and this is surely spotlight material :star::star::star::star::star:

Did somebody say Crystal Caverns ?!

This is right up my alley! I'll give it a try next time I'm on lbp

My level is also one of them, so no worries.

Call me biased but I like this one waaaaaaayyyyyy better then jungle beat junction. This one doesn't hold a candle to that level.How did you make the patterns around the door frames.Is that a decoration? Great workmanship. I can't see anything wrong with it except the jealousy I now have from the endless praise you'll get for this one. j/k2010-11-10 23:59:00

Thanks Killa_todd! To be honest, I prefer this level to my other as well, but with Jungle Beat Junction I was trying to somewhat capture my love for music, and implementing that into a simple happy little level. This one on the other hand, I tried to place a few more intricacies here and there. Thanks for playing though!2010-11-11 03:54:00

Just played it, awsome job! I really like the feel of the level. The visuals were great, the gameplay was fun, it was just great overall! I can really only point out small things with this level. In the first room, the tunnel you walk up, I thought adding a light to the back of the tunnel might eliminate some confusion for some players. That's really the only thing I can say bad about this level, phenomenal job! The gameplay was very Lockstitch-esque, and I mean that in a very good way! :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3, great job!2010-11-11 05:01:00

Hey dude cool level! Liked the crystal prizes you gave out. The way the material with the circle rock designs on it was pretty cool, good work.2010-12-29 04:03:00

Hey thanks KolessTerral!

What exactly? Do you mean the way it was placed? Because if that's what you mean, then thanks, spent quite a bit of time lining up everything just right.

Thanks bud! I tried to create a few nice places with the moving platforms that gave a little more puzzling game play while being able to enjoy some of the artistry I tried to put in as well. Thanks for the feedback!2011-01-01 20:56:00
