i think it would be a nice addon to the game, if our moon comes with some default lvls that help starting with lbp2, and ideas, for example the rts game that Christophe (if spelt properly) made can be put on our moon, or the fp space shooter. i think it would be nice since we can see the mechanics of the game at work. Or we can make them copyable lvls online, so players can choose to get them.Hopefully MM sees this post! Thanks2010-09-15 20:17:00

Yeah I think the tutorials and copyable levels people will make the story levels and video tutorials people make will be plenty.2010-09-15 21:54:00

Well there will almost certainly be prize bubbles given out, which will contain contraptions with microchips in them....

Does it need to be whole levels?

hmm unlikely in my opinion, like rtm said, I'm sure there's going to be the collectable objects for us to learn from.2010-09-15 22:00:00

Johnee (That's what I call him and know him as) doesn't want little inexperieced hands messing with his level.2010-09-15 23:10:00

They will probably be doing the 'templates' thing again.
e.g. the basic layout of the first level from each Creator Curator in the LBP story.

Heh, I doubt it... when we met him we couldn't stop him wanting to show us how to do stuff in LBP2 - a more enthusiastic man you are unlikely to meet! I very much doubt he's there guarding his creations jealously...

I hope not. The templates were absolutely useless - a terrible idea that was only included because they wanted to tack on some way to make it easier for people to create. They didn't make it easier to create. The only thing they were good for was to get a couple of bonus materials. Even the noobiest of creators realised that they wanted to make their own levels. And hey, the difficult part of making a level is not plotting out the scenery, it's designing and making the obstacles and enemies. Which brings me to another point - the MM objects were completely useless. Rather than being general tools you could use to do stuff, they were fixed objects that you couldn't modify, which meant you always got negative feedback for including them. The objects should have been basic ones like a bouncepad and an elevator that you can customize.

Anyway here's what I think MM should do instead of templates:
- Have a create mode tool with which you can draw a squiggly line, from point A to point B, or round in a circle
- Let you choose the style of path you want, that is, a top-down racetrack, a side-on platformer etc.
- Let you change the design of the path - a mountain, a forest, a cityscape etc.
- Let you adjust parameters such as density of decorations, number of obstacles, bumpiness, materials & colours used
- Then the tool will create a randomized path along the one you specified, with your parameters as a guide
- There would be so many possibilities by using the tool, that it wouldn't get old, and would be a great way for noob creators to create something quickly that's fun and looks impressive
- You could string together sections created by the tool, so you start out in a randomized thick forest, get abducted by aliens (the ship is something the player would design) and then end up on an alien spaceship coloured prodominantly blue with loads of boxes to climb over, and a few objects created by the player, and then escape in an escape pod designed by the player, travelling through space and down to earth along a sparsely populated path save for a few sattelites and hot air balloons. Finally the player would end up in a city landscape with no obstacles, and a load of characters put there by the tool, as well as one designed by the player to say well done.

[a not too good idea]

They didn't make it themselves, so no one respects. An awful amount of work for a tool that's making things too easy.

AND visuals can be one's weak point. Obstacles are my forte imo.

I wish there was support for tablets. I'd simply draw my layout on the screen and build upon that.

I'd even like that mouse support, but I don't know why they're holding it back (it was used to make lbp1's original levels). I suppose it's ok plodding out the course with a shape and tweaking it with the corner tool, but the finesse is a little.. chunky.

Is there a way to slow down or speed up the cursor?

To add on the keyboard support: every numeric value which you can set with the directional buttons and analogue sticks should also be settable wit hthe keyboard. Nothing worse than scrolling a piston's lenght to 650. Of course, the movers will reduce the use of them, but still 2010-09-16 17:53:00

NO. Absolutely no. Do not reward creators by something that requires one click! Using that tool it would take 5 minutes to make a decent level! Someone could fill up all 20 slots in one day! Horrible, horrible idea. Rewarding non-creators by that... S4S:ers (Star 4 Starrers) would use that all the time!

Besides, it would be too complicated to make by Mm.

I think extremely simple templates would be a good idea. Such as

Race
Tower defence
RPG
RTS

But REALLY simple. no need to make things too easy. Just so the player can get the gist of how to start.
