LBP2 Challenging?
Archive: 13 posts
Hey, I'm Not in The Beta So I'm not actually sure what the creating in LBP2 is like... but is it actually challenging? What I'm Trying to Say is.. with these new tools in LBP2, these Microchip type things, direct control that I've seen from screen shots, will we actually see crazy complex machines in LBP2? - because with these new tools everything does get a little easier, which means creating gets easier? i guess. In LBP1 you saw these great machines and contraptions built with only the tools that we have in LBP1... these machines seemed impossible when you were either sitting in them, fighting them or just watching them do there thing, And then when you got to see them in create mode either as a prize or your friend with the guy/girl who made them shows you, they were pretty mind blowing, Wires everywhere, Logic crazy. - Peace Biggsy <3 Sorry about spelling and such, i rushed it, also sorry if you don't know what I'm trying to say <3 | 2010-09-15 01:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
It should be much easier to create more complex things due to new movers, switches, logic, etc. | 2010-09-15 01:33:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |
It is going to be SO MUCH EASIER!!! I was actually a little mad when I saw the sequencer, because it took FOREVER to get the logic on my Bug Survival level to work right, and with the sequencer it would of taken maybe 1 and a half hours at most. | 2010-09-15 02:58:00 Author: Unknown User |
lol, wasn't there a thread just like this made a bit ago? Anywho, just remember the super famous quote now, said almost every interview. "It took one of the creators in the Jam one day what would've taken him a week." Or something like that. So no worries dude, it may be weird at 1st, but I'm sure once you get used to it it should be so easy a caveman could do it. | 2010-09-15 03:05:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I think what he's trying to say is this: It may be a Bad Thing, it may be too easy to create, and we won't see very cool workarounds/hacks anymore. I must admit that this occurred to me, too, early on. My favorite levels are the insane machines that do simple things. We made a double switch and an override switch (before discovering logic pack) and it was a difficult and satisfying project. But remember that all the old tools are still supported, and in the new story levels you see many of the good old 2-way switches still used. So I think the game is what you make of it. You could specialize in 'retro LBP' levels, and it will probably be popular with some. | 2010-09-15 03:18:00 Author: snarkwise Posts: 53 |
I think that it's fine because in the end the end result is still the same....plus even though doing things is simpler in general now it doesn't mean that they will be any less complex. Yea, that sort of contradicts itself, but think, even though the creation process has been made easier, they also improved the depth. Microchips allow for even greater logic systems than before, so even if you don't see a mess of wires over your super awesome tank or boss of death, it'll still be there in tiny format. Hell, just look at this picture and tell me it's less complicated than anything in LBP http://www.mediamolecule.com/images/uploads/emailsfromthemolecule-john-1-lrg.jpg Now I'm no creator, but I've dabbled in it and looked at the wires and such on objects like rz22g's Mighty Mite tank, and this definitely looks way more complex than that | 2010-09-15 04:08:00 Author: mogwaimon Posts: 53 |
@OP: That's an incredibly stupid statement. That's like saying that we in the modern age don't make complex things with our technologically advanced tools, because we can create the previously complex things from before so easily. Nope. We simply expand what we consider complex. So instead of having a top-down shooter be the definition of complex, a top-down shooter with animated sprites, power-ups, mini-bosses, bosses, stages, leveling up system, and a competition mode would be considered complex. Stop thinking that the planet is so narrow minded. | 2010-09-15 05:01:00 Author: Unknown User |

well it's going to be a learning experience for everyone beta tester or not... | 2010-09-15 21:49:00 Author: Pattington_Bear Posts: 777 |
well it's going to be a learning experience for everyone beta tester or not... ^Agree. But this is just the same thread as ''LBP2 overwhelming?'' one... | 2010-09-15 22:07:00 Author: Jonaolst Posts: 935 |
Not really, in fact, they've said it's been made even easier! | 2010-09-19 01:40:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
