Tweekable explosives

"I may aswell call this the bomb megathread now!"

Because LittleBigPlanet 2 willl be improved graphics and improved EVERYTHING, I thought I should post one of my ideas here.

Let's say you want a nuke or something (well, a mini one) But you can't be bothered to put lots of explosives together. Well with tweekable explosives you can size of the explosion, The amount of flames and the amount of Smoke. You can make an easy sun out of it if you so wanted to!
'EDIT': You could even tweak how much the explosion lasts. From an explosion that only has a little puff of smoke that disappears sudenly or a giant blast of fire that lasts forever!


Reasons why it should be involved:

It would be awsome
Gives your levels more 'funk'
it's easier than piling bombs together.
You can even make a gas grenade!

What you can do to help:

Firstly you can support this thread (obviously)
Send to your friends and see what they think.
Give me more ideas for it to 'improve' the idea (You will be named if you give me a good idea )

TjoxYorro: Different type of bombs (Rocket launcher! )
Cheezy WEAPON: Firework bombs or coloured explosives. (Ohh... pretty)
Jord-bord: Custom bombs (Pretty much the same but I'll allow this)
coasterfreak1235: Directional tweak (I really like this idea the though of having a type of giant volcanic blast that only goes upward is an appealing thought to me!)
TjoxYorro (again): Bomb shards (for when the explosion doesn't quiet get you but the metal encasing blowing off it does... Ouch)

I think it's a good idea BUT that shouldn't be a tweak.. there just should be more explosives!

I want underground mines that pop above the ground when activated and then explode in a horizontal radius. DOWN SACKBOY DOWN!

I would love it if my bombs had color explosions.
Even light to them. We could have real fireworks!

I know this'll never be implemented, but I'd like it to scatter some fire and embers too or some ash (like the particle efx).

It's a good idea to have much more explosives in a way, I agree (ETC, mine) With the tweakable bombs you can add more individuality to the bombs.
It would also be good for diferent types of explosives anyway. When I explained about about the Smoke grenade, that technicly is a different bomb but it can be two things! insstead of just a bomb or just a smoke grenade.

There should be an Explosion Object so you can just make an object that emits explosions and dissolve however you like. Basically like a custom bomb 2010-09-15 00:05:00

There is a destroy switch which has a explosion effect, but it is not tweakable, and looks like a normal explosion.

Did you ever go into the special secret museum in a Ratchet and Clank game? They usually demonstrate a particle tool thingy, where you tweak the speed, number, color and size of the particles. The game designers actually use it for many things. It is possible that LBP2 will have a tool like this. Alex Evans mentions in one of his interviews a particle system "that we haven't even shown yet."
I'm hoping he means a tool that creators can use, and not just a pretty part of the graphics engine.

One thing I'd like to add is the explosion direction tweak along with the radius. As in tweaking Magne Keys' detection range and direction.
You could make a bomb that explodes upwards but leaves the sides untouched...

About the destruction switch, I think not

I suppose the explosion effect is an optional tweak along other effects

The shards would look real ugly but would add more realism to the game. Whichever you want depends on your style of play.
Do you want a good looking sackboy or do you want more realism in the game? Most would answer yes for both but there would be some differences based on how you play.
