More Sackperson Interactions

The slapping feature is funny and neat for LBP1, but it isn't very useful, and I think maybe there could be more interactions between sackpeople that could actually aid gameplay (or just more fun interactions like slapping). Of course, you might be able to program this with sachbots, but I thought a defined button combination would be useful. Here are a few I thought of:


High-five: Two sackpeople slap at each other at the same time
Piggyback: One sackperson jumps above another sackperson, and both press R1 (this wouldn't work there was grabbable material around). The one on bottom moves the stack, and the one on top can lean and reach out. This could be used for 4-player challenges, as the sackeople coud stack on top of each other to reach higher places. The player on top doesn't have to hold R1, so this could be used to grab something high up. To remove yourself from the group, either press X (if you're on top) or release R1
Boost: One player holds L2, R2, and R1 at the same time and their sackperson goes into a crouching position, another sackperson moves near/in front of the crouched one and jumps. The crouched sackperson would then "boost" the other one up using his hands, giving them a higher jump (think Uncharted 2 ladder boosting).
Hug: If there is no grabbable material nearby, two sackpeople will perform a brief hug animation if they hold R1 at the same time.
Bonk: like the slap, but with a quick up-to-down movement. The sackperson performing the action bonks the nearby player on the head, who rubs the place of impact.



This would be a neat little addition if it was implemented, but it's not the easiest thing to pull off and it might just clutter up the game. Still, it's just a suggestion and could work great if properly implemented.

These are seriously cool ideas. The exact buttons/implementation can be worked out; the idea is great.

I remember Goof Troops... was it Goof Troops? *googles goof troops* for the Super Nintendo.
You could throw things back and forth, play catch with bombs. It was great... Ahh, Goof Troops.

Anyway, yeah, interactions like these would bring a lot to the game, imho.

Edit: You know, it just may be that sackbots could do many of these things... or at least simulate them in LBP style...

The boost and Piggybank ones would most likely break some levels tho, so I doubt they'd be added as non-power-ups, and you can carry others with Power Gloves, so doubt they'd make more than one power-up to do the same thing. 2010-09-15 01:14:00

Some type of positive reinforcement action would be interesting,

These are some pretty good ideas, I especially like the Boost. The Piggyback, as Silverleon said, can/might be done by the Power Gloves A.K.A. Theinator Grabinatorinator.

The boost and Piggybank ones would most likely break some levels tho, so I doubt they'd be added as non-power-ups, and you can carry others with Power Gloves, so doubt they'd make more than one power-up to do the same thing.

Wow, right, good point. In one interview someone said they couldn't change the jump mechanics of sackboy, because it would break existing levels.
This interactions idea then should be limited to the ones that don't effect gameplay: The high-five, head bonk. GDN001 suggested handshake.

But if the player is controlling a sackbot that looks like him, wired to perform a recorded action with certain buttons, this stuff could be done.
All we need is sensors on the other sackbots to cause them to respond to the action with a different recorded action. Cool!

Non-gameplay actions are great, but the gameplay methods would skew LBP1 levels... Sackbot usage *cough cough*2010-09-15 13:45:00
