More Hazards

I would like to see more hazards in LBP2. Sackboy only has a few ways to die - and for a game with so many levels they get old quick. - Spiked - Squished (basically the same as spiked but with a different sound) - Electrocuted - Gassed - Burnt (same animation & sound when exploded) - Plasma'd - Drowned (takes 30s though) Games like Crash Bandicoot have many more ways to die in comedic fashion, and that's just 1 game with 35 levels, not 3,000,000. So I'd like to see Sackboy... - Frozen - Fall (falls off the bottom of the screen after hanging in midair scrambling, rather than dying in poison gas at the bottom) - Dissolve - Turn to dust - Disintigrate (into little polygons upwards in slow-mo) - Warp (looks like he's been telported, only he dies) - Drop dead (fall straight down on his face or back) - Drift away (falls dead and his spirit floats upwards before fading) - Crash and slide (hits into a wall and slides slowly down it) - Spin/stumble and drop (spins round in a daze before dropping dead) - Instant drown - Explode (maybe leave just his eyes left?) - Pop (like popit pop, but customizable as a hazard - good for outer space) - Shrink (down to nothing) - Squished & flattened (without popping out of the scenery, sackboy becomes 1mm thick then flutters down like a piece of paper) So I've given my suggestions, which do you want most in LBP2? | 2010-09-13 22:44:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |

Yeah well I think a fall hazard is very important. In 90% of LBP1 levels you can die by falling off something. But in LBP1, you have to hit some poison gas, or spikes etc. in order to actually die. When if you look at most actual platforming games - Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank etc. you always die by JUST falling when you miss a jump. Bahaha I'd love the Crash and Slide death... all of them are good, but I love that one in particular. The "fall over and die" one could be related to a health setting you could choose... for ice, you could have a feature where they either die by it (say the ice shatters along with the sackperson) OR you'd have to rotate the analog stick to break free. So aside from the default behaviours (zombie, robot etc.) you can't really make the sackbots do anything out of the ordinary like fall over (or climb a ladder...) If you could tweak a sackbot's animation (rather than just record), frame-by-frame, limb-by-limb, some of these would be easier to do. I would like to see sackboy's little arms and legs be chopped off and bits of cotton coming out, but MM probably wouldn't make that because its a kid friendly game... It would also be cool if there was ice where if you stood on it too long you would freeze into a block of ice and you would have to shake the controller until you escape. Yeah, Im sure it was removed because it was absolutely horrible. Apparently you had to vigorously shake the sixaxis to break free and if you did and landed back on the ice (which was probably the case as you couldn't move) you died. You just die if you stand on the ice. It could be made a bit different by having it so if you stand on the ice for too long you freeze and die, BUT I think it would be a lot more flexible if you just froze and shattered. Why not just add acid and Ice/wind elements, the acid can be put into a pool or the creators area, the ice would be similar to the water in LBP, but it's tweakable, like expanding it to 2-3 mins to make it to the end of a level, before your sackperson freezes over. Now bottomless pits, are not really hard to make, just put gas down there, LOL, but I think that'll be funny to see, but the sackperson is built like the commando pro users in COD, LOL, no failling damage. @mattbru77 Yeah? but so what? :/ Sure we can record animations on to sackbots and use some logic to make fake melee power-ups, but thats like saying (Who needs New power-ups? we can just use sackbots and logic for everthing) Sure we can use that stuff for tons of things, even hand to hand combat, but its just not the same as getting real power-ups, seems like anymore everyones's way to reply to someone is to use LBP2 stuff to fake it, Hoho... I understand some, like quicksand and ice, but I'm not seeing how falling on your face when you die is a hazard. That's post-death animations. In one video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ACjm5MJuE I saw that you can use rotators with sackbots to make them lie down... this is very interesting. Awesome ideas. That cut scene level is quite brilliant, played it a few times to see the different out comes. Someone asked here can the sackbot die from hazards? Yes, same animation for all the hazards, but in the beta we can't make the bots contact water. Water + sackbots = electrocution. I had a hazard idea... how about "sharp", which makes the object sharp, like the sword, shuriken, or sawblade objects... and the death animation would be like getting spiked. I don't know how that would work, though... maybe a tweaker for area of sharpness? And maybe that part could thin out, but still be in a walk-able layer.
