A transforming path
Archive: 12 posts
I got this idea from watching Aliens vs. Predator that you can watch below. A hidden switch activation transposes the walls, ceiling, and floor into a new hidden path. http://rapidshare.com/files/157427442/AVP.avi.html The foreground would be the original path you would take but once the switch is activated then the middle layer and background transform to open up a path hidden in the background. The floor and ceiling creates obstacles and forces the player to navigate the transformation as soon as possible before it closes. Of course, if the player does die then the player waits until the stage has reset itself. edit:apparently people thought I created this so I removed it | 2008-10-25 15:55:00 Author: sqweak ![]() Posts: 17 |
Very cool, it will be great to see this idea incorporated into your level design. Cheers QuozL | 2008-10-25 16:00:00 Author: QuozL ![]() Posts: 921 |
Wow I really liked that! If this sort of thing were incorparated into levels who knows where it would take you?! | 2008-10-25 16:03:00 Author: floor3013 ![]() Posts: 287 |
Holy Crap! How long did it take you to make that? It actually expands too. Wow. | 2008-10-25 17:07:00 Author: Unknown User ![]() |
That was very cleverly designed. Very airlock-like. And it looks like it performs more than it actually does, which is the sign of an excellent illusion. Also, it keeps the player from backtracking, which might be useful to some levels. | 2008-10-25 17:24:00 Author: Mark D. Stroyer ![]() Posts: 632 |
Um, isn't that very similar to one in-game. World 8 anyone? I don't want to post any spoilers, but I'm sure I've seen the design before... | 2008-10-25 17:29:00 Author: flakmagnet ![]() Posts: 1084 |

"Impressive mechanical door made by develeopers for one of the Story levels. " | 2008-10-25 18:32:00 Author: sqweak ![]() Posts: 17 |
Just realized, is it just me or does it remind you of that Channel 4 Ident in Trafalgar Square? | 2008-10-25 18:44:00 Author: floor3013 ![]() Posts: 287 |

Did you read the uploader's description. "Impressive mechanical door made by develeopers for one of the Story levels. " No, I didn't read the uploader's description. The way you phrased your OP made it sound like YOU made the video and the object therein. And if you check the posts below yours, others thought you had. Hence my statement. | 2008-10-26 20:54:00 Author: flakmagnet ![]() Posts: 1084 |
