Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Act 1-1Arcas-X
Recreation of Castlevania Symphony of the Night by Arcas-X. Part 2 to come soon.
Here's my recreation of Castlevania Symphony of the Night. I've tried as much as possible to femain faithful to the original game and it turned out pretty well. It's not perfect but close enough. Let me know what you think and here are a few pictures and a video to showcase better.

I liked that game back when it came out. I'll have a look at this and tell you what I think. Also with the video you've got one or two pics would be fine.

Edit: I played through it and another person joined me while I was playing. They had some trouble with the level, I thought it was kind of easy though. Maybe infinte checkpoints could help that. I liked how you set it up. It reminded me of the game and looked like it. I liked grabbing the candles.

I don't have any real complaints though if I were to make a castlevania level I'd probably do it all on one layer and make the enemies so you have to jump on them to kill them instead of grabbing them. It was a nice fun short little level.

I wasn't planning on taking a video until the last minute so that's why there's so many.

I'm not excessively familiar with Castlevania series, but this level looked interesting. The visuals we're pretty good. The enemies, well the wolf more specifically were kind of hard to figure out, I had to restart once after just the first wolf. Once you get it down, it's not so bad the next few times. I didn't watch the video because it's not really my cup of tea so if it explained it in there I'm sorry. The custom music was very nice but that must have killed your thermometer, which is why the level was short I guess. Back to the enemies, the variety of them was nice, and the others weren't too hard to beat. All in all. I can see you put a lot of work into it. Hopefully your level succeeds and good luck.

Also when I finished the level I saw that I was only 1 of 2 to complete it even though the level has 26 plays. Maybe make it a bit easier?

It was a little hard trying to figure out how to kill the enemies considering in the original game all you had to do was swipe with x and they would go down. The wolves can be pretty difficult at times so I'll look into weakening their "jump" mechanics. As for the music, it surprisingly took up barely any of the therm and was added at the last minute. I actually put in 3 different music pieces to echo throughout the whole level and it still took up barely any therm. It was about 95% full when I added those.

Thanks very much for commenting and playing and I will definitely look into your feedback.

Edit: Fixed the wolves and some annoying cameras. The wolves now constantly do a small leap so it's easier to know when to attack.

I really loved this level after the changes. The jumping and camera angles were my two main gripes and you've fixed it well! You did a great job of capturing the mood of the game and I love the music! I particularly jumped out of my skin when those things jump out of the water, even though I've played the original and have seen that moment a dozen times

My only criticism is that the black boxes look a little bit weird and just seem out of place, but I get the effect you were going for. And there's also the combat, but that's unavoidable in LBP! Had you considered using the paintinator instead of the grabbing? The paint has a kind of a whip like effect that might be quite appropriate! Other than that, I thought the stabbing trick was really neat when you grab the wolves heads.

Overall the level is really well designed and did genuinely remind me of what it was like to play Castlevania! I'll check out some of your other levels sometime too.

If you would like to check out my Nosferatu A Sackphony Of Horrors (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=35707-Nosferatu-A-Sackphony-Of-Horrors) level feel free! I think you might like it, it's a similarly Dracula-themed game, and there's a part where you have to fight Nosferatu Bats using the paintinator.

I think the combat for this will really improve when LBP2 comes out, maybe one could conceivably make the creatinator spew out a whip-like flaming/plasma/electric shape that kills the baddies and demits as soon as it comes out.

Hmm...I wonder if that'd be possible....to make the creatinator spew one object out, stay in place, and have it disappear almost immediately...

As for the level itself, I'll check it out when I log into LBP later, I really love Castlevania

Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it.

As for the black rectangles, I only added those for nostalgia but I definitely see where you're coming from. It is more seamless without them so I'll reconsider that. I did think of the Paintinator when deciding on methods of attacking but it's just way too much of a change in gameplay mechanics to feel like the original so I opted out with it.

As for your level, I'll most definitely check it out and leave you a review. It sounds exactly like my type of level. I'm really glad you enjoyed the level, and did you try it with the commentary? Keep an eye open for part 2!
