Market is up!

Archive: 112 posts

After lots of configuring and testing and tweaking, our new XP market is up and running! There are quite a few little nifty doodads in there, so it should satiate any purchasable desire you might have. Plus, all of the things you buy are put into effect immediately, so we don't have to go in and manually enable things anymore.

A few notable differences from the last shop we had:


There's lots of stat tracking in this version, so you'll be able to see a bunch of information about which items are popular and unpopular, how many items you've bought, etc.
Basic Upgrade is no longer up for purchase. We felt this was an incremental upgrade anyway, and didn't offer enough features to be worthy for sale. We still offer it as an unlockable feature through earning Thanks, but it's not something you can purchase. Premium and Ultimate Upgrades are still featured in the shop.
Items are now better sorted - it should be much easier to find the thing you want and buy it.

If you don't see something in the store that you think should be included, don't be afraid to let us know! We're not guaranteeing we'll add it (stickers are most likely gone forever, since Trophies are much better anyway), but we will consider everything. Enjoy! 		2010-09-11 23:40:00

Can you configure it so that a specific user gets the bought request per item?

Because, with LBP2 and all that stuff, each user having their own store would be cool.

So like a music guy could ask you to add a music service, people could "buy" it, and the reply/ exp would go to said user as opposed to the system?

If possible that'd be cool.

Other then that, not sure what else the store can have really... unless of course you decide to add some kinda metagame a'la LBPC: TCG, but I don't think so . But having user stores may be a cool idea... But as it stands now, I have no use for it... but have tons of exp... ...

The Point Market has a lot of features I can't see anyone using, like being able to fire a mod if you pay enough.

It has a feature for stealing exp from other people. Now obviously CC didn't give us that option, so we can't steal, it's just there because he didn't get rid of it yet.

And lbp is probably number 1 because he is number 1 and it counts up registration order when the system deals with a tie :/		2010-09-12 02:00:00

Well, I bought the ultimate bundle. Because I can.

So, I wander what else will change? Having name font changes like some one else suggested would be pure win. (until some one decides to use kingdom hearts, Lulz)

No, not really. That's what your avatar is for. Custom username colors/fonts/etc would break the style of the page. We put a lot of work into making the site easy to look at for long periods of time - allowing people to mess with that style wouldn't be a good idea.

If you guys have any more questions about what we will or won't add, keep this in mind: standard policy is unless we can guarantee the effect will be 100% positive, anything we offer for sale from the Market will only affect UX (user experience) for the user buying the item. Nobody else should be affected because I decided to buy Item X - if it did, eventually UX would suffer because the site would become messy and disorganized.

There are, obviously, a few exceptions, but we have to draw the line somewhere, and, if you notice, every time a user's username is the wrong color people suddenly question why that is. Why do you think people notice username color so readily? It's because we specifically designed username color as a tool, a reference point for users to utilize. They can look at the color of someone's name and instantly know what their role is around here. Allowing custom colors/fonts/etc would break that tool, and I don't think it's worth it.		2010-09-12 03:04:00

I'm assuming that it takes a little while to charge you?

Sorry for being an interrigator CC, but I have questions concerning the Market.

Obviously, more will be added, right? Because if stickers aren't coming back, then what is there going to be available? You can't buy Trophies, that's for sure.

I noticed the Most Purchases slot is taken up by a member named justinat998. It says that he purchased 25 times. Is this a bug?

Finally, I also noticed lbp mentioned in two slots. Yet one specific one caught my attention: Most Steal Attempts. Does this mean there's a new game where we can try to steal the items, or does this simply mean hackers? Because if it is a game, the market will definitely be overrun with thieves.

2. You eventually get upgraded once you get a lot of rep.

And now...

So yeah, about trophies. They just seem useless when not used right. I'd say to either completely revamp the trophy system or get rid of it altogether.

Also, sure you don't want a metagame? Of sorts? I unno, I think it'd be cool if we could somehow win cards or... I unno. You could also add items for people to make their text a certain color by default, i.e. making it so their posts are bold by default if they so choose :/		2010-09-14 00:18:00

But you have been registered since July 09, and so you've got almost 3000 exp just for being signed up since then... so yeah, that's why it's cheap 		2010-09-22 01:48:00

I dont think the market adds anything attractive to this site... additionally it doesn't sound like it's up and properly operating... I am not convinced the relationship between earnings and price is a good one...

As it stands now, I agree with you.

We really can't buy anything, and all suggestions would only form a sense of "elitism"... and the few things we CAN buy could easily be given to everyone...

Exp just seems like, well, a waste. There are a lot of cool things we could do with it, but it's just sitting there, rotting ;-;

It'd be nice if there was some "collection" type thing or something to make the market worthwhile, but as it stands now it's just a waste really :/		2010-09-23 22:13:00

With the amount of bugs it has though, CC shoulda had a private beta, lol.

hey i have this problem
A week ago i bought the custom user tittle from the store
And now i just got the automatic profile upgrade with 650 rep
so know i can customize it whenever i want
so my problem is
Whenever i change the tiitle like 5 to 10 minutes later it changes back
to how it was before i got the automatic profile upgrade

I concur. Again. Something must be added!

I'd like for the ability to buy custom text things... Like making all posts bold by default ect :/

And then stickers. Or something like stickers. They'd be nice, because the whole trophy thing is worse since it's just the default and does nothing aside from getting peepz to make blogs for that trophy.

I agree with a lot of you too. It's kind of like going to a food store and they only have spatulas... You get all the technical stuff, but none of the good, tasty stuff. Stickers are fun and good! Not so sure about tasty though... o.O2010-10-02 22:04:00
