Resident Evil 1 For PC Crashes when Barry kills the first zombie

Archive: 7 posts

So I've been trying to play Resident Evil 1 on the PC but the game kind of just freezes after barry kills the first zombie, the only thing that keeps going is the ticking sound from the clock.

Any suggestions?

Did you try Re-installing the game onto your PC? This works for me most of the time.

BTW, Resident Evil 1= Great taste!

I actually had this problem the last time I tried playing it, installed, reinstalled, etc. etc. etc.

Should I pick anything in particular with the graphics options btw? I get weird clipping on the backgrounds ... but that's not a big deal if the game would work.

And thanks. .. if it matters, what happens is barry kills the zombie and then they talk about it and then jill just stands there and you can't move...

If you have a slow computer, you should deffineatly lower your graphics as much as possibe High quality graphics on a slow computer can result in visual quirks, and if its worse enough, even freezing. Try it, see how it works out.2010-09-12 17:51:00

when you first enter the dining room, try to leave out of the door you just came in, weskar will tell you to investigate if you hear gunfire, try again and barry calls you a coward, then after you have spoke to barry about the blood stain run past the clock and you will get a different cutscene which doesnt hang.2010-09-12 17:55:00

WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!! Thank you so much. Now I can actually play the game.

I'm playing the original Resident Evil from the Win 95 Era, on a pretty good PC now so if anything I'm just glad the game isn't running too fast because of the fast CPU.

ACtually... I am stuck again, I can't seem to push things...

She does her pushing animation but stops it instantly before the object is actually pushed, I managed to move a bookshelf about 2 feet. Ideas?
