Here are somethings I need it to be :
1. An in-game picture.
2. Hi contrast with very few small details. (Preferably none.)
3. Possibly on a grey background unless that blends in too much, just don't put it onto too bright a background. It merges pixels and it is hard to figure out what is what. (a.k.a. no white costumes on a white background, etc. Like warlords guidelines for the pictures for the group picture.)
4. Any custom stickers need to be posted with your request. After all, I can't draw what I can't see, right?

Yep I did trace it, but I tried a new shading technique, since most of the costume is white. Oh, and it is Marvin the Paranoid Android from the Hitchhikers Guide.
Unfortunately you can't see the new shading very well, but that's okay, as I won't be adopting it, for it is crappy.

At this size the new shading just looks like thick lines. That is why I won't be using it again. And I was referring to the shading style being crappy, thusly the drawing turned out bad because of it, not necessarily the drawing itself that is crappy. cqtm2010-09-20 01:27:00

I got bored at work so I drew my boss as a sackboy when he wasn't looking, since I would probably be told to 'Get back to work' if he saw me, then my other boss would say the same thing, then she would tell the other employees and all of them would say something, etc. A lot like Office Space, I guess. Anyway I will post it later, but first I have to go do the dishes so mom doesn't get mad. It is the first freehand drawing that I am proud of, so I will see what you all think.

Sorry, but did you read the rules?

Here are somethings I need it to be :

2. Hi contrast with few small details. (This picture has a lot of small details.)
3. Possibly on a gray background unless that blends in too much, just don't put it onto too bright a background. It merges pixels and it is hard to figure out what is what. (And especially not a white background. It is the brightest of them all.)
My reasons for not doing that are in bold/parentheses.


In this pose(the one in the right)

When you go to take the picture, go into create mode, fire a paint ball strait up while paused, then stand on it with your arms out to the sides, that would be how to get that pose.		2010-09-22 20:43:00

Okay, so I got to the coloring stage with my closed sign. After that I'll post it and go to work, then after work I'll finish my open sign and possibly post it later tonight. After I get the open sign and shadows request done. I am doing one before I open up so I can figure how many to do in each round, so I chose him as he was the first to ask if I took requests.

What do you think? I like making these colored ones. The shading, in my mind just works better. The colored pencil smooths it out a bit and darkens it at the same time as it gets colored. In order to make colored requests I will have to get an artists colored pencil set.
And just in case you were wondering, I did in fact get inspired by TheZimInvader to start drawing sackpersons.

The way I do most of my drawings is I trace the shape and major detail shapes, then lift it off the screen and do the detail work, any custom stuff, like the suction cup hands on my Cosmo sackboy, and then last the shading. For the open/closed signs, I did all that, then colored it. I guess it is more than just tracing, but I still feel like it is a cheat and not worthy of being called art.2010-09-26 03:54:00

So today, I'm sick. I thought I would work on my art a little. So I found some colored pencils (no idea where the ones I just bought went to (grr ADD)) and have been working on updating the ones I already posted. Here they are.

I decided to do a request from LBN before I open for requests, just to be fair. I'll do shadow3596s and that one first, then a break and open for requests. 1. trace the outlines
2. color like a coloring book
3. freehand the tiny details and shading, then make the lines darker.

UPDATE : I checked on my pencils and Amazon had them marked as "Expired" whatever that means, so I reordered them and they will be here in "3-5 business days" so about a week until requests open.

Oops, gotta read that. :blush:

3. Possibly on a grey background unless that blends in too much, just don't put it onto too bright a background. It merges pixels and it is hard to figure out what is what. (a.k.a. no white costumes on a white background, etc. Like warlords guidelines for the pictures for the group picture.)

Well, I have some bad news for everybody. My brother is going to be coming on the 30th to get his PS3, so until I get my own I won't be playing anymore. Yup.
An awesome -but sadly, inactive- clan that I'm proudly a member of.

It's mostly made up of people that make graffiti in LBP, but there are a few normal artists(like me, even though i've made a little graffiti myself) in it also.
Defo's been able to come online some now that he's got a new PS3, so he's gotten back to working on a clan level that takes place in a city and each member got to decorate the buildings with their own art and graffiti and stuff.
I vandalized a few walls myself, which i'm quite proud of, actually:arg: ( i'm trying to help him program the sackbots in it, though i'm kinda failing..lol)

Well I gotta get used to using it first before i get serious with it.. lol
It doesn't just have to be used for drawing though, It basically replaces your mouse and/or laptop scrolling thingy. You just lightly hover over it with the pen to move your cursor around the screen, then double-tab instead of click.
Or, you can use your hands...
either way, it's really cool, and definetly worth the money

Also, we're so off-topic right now..

I mostly freehand these days. I did trace a little, but only the basic outline, and only because I wanted it to be the same on both drawings.

I may eventually try digitalizing my work, but I like hand drawing them. It gives me much more control of the final product. With digital, (no offense to those who use it) you are pretty much stuck with a defined amount of textures, brushes, etc. while hand drawing makes it possible to do stuff you can't with a computer.2010-11-08 06:24:00

That statement doesn't make much sense to me.
Whether the drawings are traditional or digital has nothing to do with how popular they are.
It's the quality, and how pleasing or interesting the drawings are to the eye (not to mention the rate at which you make them) that mostly determine that, not the medium.
You must also remember that Zim's and my threads have been around a bit longer than this one, shadow.

So, back to the art at hand, I tried to intuit what was going on in the picture as well as what the costume was supposed to be, given the limitations in LBP. This kind of thing is what I like to do with my art. I started with my Cosmo sackboy (green with red spots) and really liked it so I did it again with jalr2d2 over on LBN. I hope nobody minds. I like to get into the creators mind a little to make, in my opinion, better art. I think it would have turned out okay if I had just put buttons on top like in the picture, but I think it was meant to be goggles. Then I went a little further and made them be night vision, since with the thought of him killing the zombies in my head, he would need to see in the dark, so when coloring, I made the lenses green so that they are now night vision goggles.
