OK Chicken Race

OK Chicken Racecelsus
This level was actually for designing the autos in my other levels until I got a bit tired working on the more complex levels and wanted somethign fun...made it simple dodge traffic as it comes at you..with power ups. The power ups would dominate the level, so I tired many ways to balance them...now after working with massive changes, of the 7 types of vehicles, three reward you with your own vehicle to fight back...but only if you destroy them the traditional way and not with other power ups. The whole time the Save point follows you. This level has two infinate check points, but in areas where the idea is either points and race time, or offing your co-player. The last part of the level is a bike ride...hope it works well. I may have over done my re imagining of the level...could use feedback on this one...or on the OK Choice level that this one was a break from designing.

(Power-up Tank this one works best for two players because it is slow and one player can't fire and move at the same time)

(Your starting point...sorry you don't drive it, but you can honk the horn...yeah lame Edit: the semi no longer looks the same, decided to give him a little face-lift)

This was a neat level, a different concept then what I've seen before, as you said some of the vehicles were really complex, the whole dodging traffic was fun. I didn't fully understand how the power ups worked, I tried to get the bubbles, but found them hard to reach, and I didn't always get something when I popped the bubble. What was I doing wrong? I appreciate the unlimited lives, I would say this level is near impossible to ace. The bikes at the end were neat, but not really sure how it works with the plot =P But it's not really a storyline level. The bikes sometimes flipped if I accelerated too fast, but aside from that it was good. The bulls at the end were a good finish, I'm not usually one for fart jokes but I thought it was kind of funny. All in all a good level, you should be a little less pessimistic and call it the 'good chicken run' or the 'perilous chicken run' OK just doesn't give it justice.

I gave it 4 stars

Good luck on the success of your level.

Thanks for the feedback. I will check out your level in just a bit. The power-ups were orginally boxes dropped with stickers, but they would get pushed along by traffic, then they were changed to shoot out a blast to clear out traffic before they emitted the object, but because every key color is being used in those three levels of cars (your damage, car damage, each level's start and stop, special one for front emitting car, points emitting, and forgot the last one) but I was not able to avoid the power boxes from accidentally clearing out the traffic so I tried the new approach, which was if you kill the special cars they will emit the power-ups when they die, such as the semi, the car with trailer, or the old style van. Each one has a picture of what they emit. The bubbles in the air are just points prettied up. If they go on the ground they mess up the on comming traffic or your power-ups, so they float, but they have to float high enough to not mess up traffic. I think I can fix this confusion by simply adding a sign to the background that shows the cars and the power-up they give...and have Blings say he is just dropping point bubbles. The cows emitting at the end was designed so if your friend was on the cow infront he could kill you with the gas, the switch right before that was so if your friend got in the cow infront...you could get him too with the Dr Strangelove altered semi. The bikes were designed to be slightly dangerous in that area for a challenge...were they too hard? I could add a blurb there to warn the users about the dangers of bike riding. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: Just added a few details like a sign explaining the power-ups at the start, moved the score bubbles down lower, found a switch that needed to be hidden...in a sixth level of an emited item (*@%!), changed a car for easierblasting and fixed a glitch with it...added a few more little blurbs. Again thanks for the feedback.

This was a lot of fun to play. The cows at the end came out of nowhere and my son and I both laughed at what came out of the cows. I liked the Frogger kind of opening bit and was thankful there was an infinite life following us. Just when I got tired of trying to dodge cars, that part of the level ended, so, good job on the timing. I didn't understand the power-up thing. I got some of the bubbles, but it didn't seem to affect anything... ? I think you could drop that portion of it completely and still have a very good and entertaining section. I found the section with the bikes to be really frustrating, with no way to judge the timing of the falling rocks and no way to reverse from a hazard, it was more work than fun. I was just happy it was over when I got to the end of it. The bikes tended to tip over backward when started and both areas where the rocks fell were preceded by an incline increasing the likelyhood of a back flip. The cows were funny.2010-09-11 23:13:00

Thanks for the feedback Random, the funny thing is I was thinking how no one ever did a dodge traffic game like frogger with a death wish where he decides to go against traffic...thus this level. I think you played this level before I just added the poster board at the start with extra directions on the power-ups and Blings telling you that he just drops point bubbles for you (now easier to grab and they are just prettified bubbles, nothing more). Basically you get the powers from destroying one of three cars, but only if you do it by jumping on them and not by destroying them with a power-up. I went through and touched up the biking paths to make them a bit safer, added a starting falling rock noise as an extra warning, and I think that was all. Yeah I liked the cows so much that a bull I used inthe Invasion level I went back to and altered it to the same effect...just wait until I finish the level in the south called the "OK Corral"...but too many other things right now. So thanks Elemental and Random for the good feedback, and I left you both some feedback, hope it was helpful too.

(The car that is a power up will have a sticker with the power-up denoted on its side...just take them out to get the item)
