Top-Down view may be way to go. | 2010-09-11 13:36:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
Top-Down view may be way to go. goes without saying | 2010-09-11 13:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
in other words like the gta kind of free roam | 2010-09-11 20:55:00 Author: wait wtf Posts: 853 |
Well, my game is going to be free roam. As long as the player can navigate across any entire area without a set pathway, then yes, of course free roam is possible | 2010-09-11 22:45:00 Author: lyrradXOX Posts: 285 |
3rd person? simply... no. But if your thinking something like uncharted or gta 3rd person, still no. While you can tilt the camera back, you will only be seeing stacked blocks. | 2010-09-12 04:13:00 Author: PPp_Killer Posts: 449 |
Top down is technically a version of third person. | 2010-09-12 04:48:00 Author: LukeCF Posts: 790 |
Yeah, this is entirely possible. Want proof? Look up gevurah22 on YouTube and what the video that shows the rambo level. Easy. | 2010-09-12 04:54:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
i think you can if you make the lvl topdown | 2010-09-12 05:06:00 Author: Onii55 Posts: 153 |
Top-Down view may be way to go. But there's no REAL top-down in LBP2. It's just an illusion with top-down scenery and anti-gravity. Without a sort of vehicle to act as the top-down player, it's not possible. Sackboy will just walk side-to-side. Yeah, this is entirely possible. Want proof? Look up gevurah22 on YouTube and what the video that shows the rambo level. Easy. Can you give me the link? I can't find it. | 2010-09-12 17:37:00 Author: edster962 Posts: 170 |

Sackboy will just walk side-to-side. Still, it's the closest you can get to a free-roam level. Have you played that newest GTA level in LBP1? Yeah, this is entirely possible. Want proof? Look up gevurah22 on YouTube and what the video that shows the rambo level. Easy. Mind a link? | 2010-09-12 17:45:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
The rambo level isn't free roam, but I suppose you could take the control system for it and make it less linear. | 2010-09-12 17:47:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm not sure, but probably, if you are very creative with the way you use the new tools... for instance... A long time ago, there existed a game. This game was known as "RPGmaker 2000". Unfortunately the game wasn't released outside of Japan, and so I had to rely on a "hacked" Engrish version. but I digress.. The game gave you the tools to make very simple old-school RPGs (Chrono Trigger, Pokemon) very easily... But soon the "community" discovered ways to use the tools to make all sorts of racing games and just about anything really. Long story short... I played a game made by someone who I wish I could give credit to, and later remade their engine for my game. But it was basically a logic system that worked with a map you drew on a grid. When played it would determine which pictures to display on screen, basically turning the 2d top down grid map, into a (partially)rendered first person 3d map... (babbling, hope someone understood some of that) Anyway, I'm 98% sure that with the LBP2 tools (and a generous helping of stickered holographic material) some brilliant mind will soon create a fully 3D FPS, or something else... | 2010-09-13 05:23:00 Author: Madafaku Posts: 738 |
It may be possible, but very impracticable and logic heavy, limited to just dungeon spelunking. Think of those really really old maze games where you navigate corridors in first person. You slowly plod forward in a grid, turn 90 degrees, face n/s/w/e etc. You could build a picture for every possible combination of direction your facing (whether the path is straight, turns, splits, etc). Get where I'm going with this? It's impressive if you can make it at first, but also very boring and almost pointless. I agree with the others, stick with the top-down for a more engaging experience. | 2010-09-13 10:28:00 Author: Cheezy WEAPON Posts: 283 |
yo can make free roam in LBP1. as in no linear play. the definition of a free roam world is a world that is not a linear one directional world (Super Mario Bros.) but instead allows the character to move freely, at their own pace (the legend of zelda) | 2010-09-13 18:15:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |
