My first (and only) published level, made for my daughters. Fight to the top of the tower and defeat the dragon!
I made this level before Christmas for my two girls before they found out we were getting a PS3. I was new to the game and on a deadline, so it's not that great. I've also added to it occasionally, so alot of parts seem smooshed together.

I'm trying to re-make it with better visuals/gameplay/storyline--better everything. I was wondering what some other people thought of it. Specifically, was there anything you like or dislike that you feel I should expand upon or leave out of the remake?

I'm going to limit my F4F to ten for now...

Thanks to all those who check it out.

Hey, I played your level earlier and for a first level, it is pretty good, especially since you were on a deadline. Although, had you not left a comment on my level, it would have been almost impossible to find just from searching for the world Castle. But in LBP 2, I'm sure there will be a search for a creator function that will make finding a specific level a lot easier. There was some good gameplay in there, but I felt the strong point of your level was your creatures. The catapult guys were really cool, probably my favorite of your creatures, and I would like to see more of them in a remake. The guys with the electric arms that moved in and out were cool too, especially since you needed to bounce off their heads to get that one point bubble at the top of the moving points. The spike wheel that went over the fire was a fun part, although I killed the guy inside of the wheel while he was still moving right, so I had to really jump for it to get the wheel moving back to the left. The eyes on the platforms was a nice touch, there is just something hilarious about the platforms watching you jump on them. The dragon boss looked amazing, but was fairly easy to defeat. In a remake I would say make the boss a bit tougher.

Fun level with really cool creatures, and if you make a new one, I will definitely play that one too. 4 stars

Thanks for playing, RobotVampire!

I was thinking of using the paintinator for the boss in the remake. I've got alot of ideas for him, like different types of projectiles.

You can type in "@Jayzhee" to search for me by creator.

Ahh ha, thanks that is very good to know. I always wondered why you couldn't search for creators. Now I know I just didn't know how to.2010-09-12 05:56:00

Yeah, not too bad for a first level. I like the simplicity of it, the platforming was pretty standard but I really enjoyed the back to basics part. The dragon would be kinda neat with the paintanator, I just stood behind it and waited for the heads to go, yeah I'm kinda lazy sometimes when it comes to the dodging of plasma balls. All in all, it was pretty fun. I gave it 4 stars. ^.^ Best wishes in your future lbp creations. =)2010-09-12 06:50:00

Thanks for playing, ElementalPenguin!

Yeah, the dragon is pretty easy. That was something I added later. The original dragon was a small green guy that shot plasma balls. He was only one thick and one thin; you could walk right past him! Maybe I'll switch i to the paintinator tonight.

EDIT: I just changed it to the paintinator. I may need to add some terrain to the boss room so you cant shoot the boss from a mile away...

Just played this level! Initially it was uninspiring, but there were some innovative parts that surprised me like the creatures moving the spiked wheels. It shows you have some creative talent. But presentation is key - and what was there felt empty, because of the sparseness of the level and the flatness of the ground. I would say this is good for a first level attempt under time constraints, but it's not worth spending time on when you can create a brand new level without time constraints and make it something special.

So rather than suggestions for this level, I'll give you ones for future levels:
- Optional - think of a loose story to tell. I don't always bother
- Make lots of cool contraptions like you have. But instead of just plonking them down ina straight line, save them as objects and then
- Design a visual theme. See what looks good. A combination of two materials, one behind the other and cutting a path often works well. Or, use the grid to create some funky designs. Alternatively, play with the fog and lighting settings to create a cool visual effect without the need for different materials.
- Integrate your objects into your level with the new theme. Think of exciting ways to get to the next area, and make the areas themselves less box-shaped with interesting paths (though not jaggedy so you can't climb them!)
- Last of all set the music & add finishing touches like sound effects etc.

Would be nice to see what you create next!

Could you please F4F my level "Platform Incredible." Thanks!

Thanks for playing my level, thor!

A lot of people seem to like the spiked wheel guys, which is cool with me 'cause they're my favorite!

I only had about a month to learn how to make a level and I could only do it when the kids weren't home. Since then I've learned so much from messing around in create mode and reading here on LBPC that I've been kind of overwhelmed! I couldn't decide what I wanted to make in a new level. That's why I decided to remake this level with some of the stuff I've learned.

Thanks again!

The level was simple and fun but felt old. As the standard of levels has fone up since the games release people have come to regard many of the original, classic levels as "bad" and "obsolete." Your level falls into that category. The super simplified visuals and odd use of materials make for an almost nostalgic level, which unless I got the wrong impression was not the intended effect, rather you wanted to make a high quality adventure. Now, despite the inconstant old visual style the level was a short and entertaining experience and I had alot of fun. I would suggest choosing 2-3 materials and maybe a sponge and try to use only those materials to give it a more consistant look. I gave it 2 stars2010-09-26 06:03:00

I think this level was weird.
Good:
+Easy
+Playable, no stucks etc.
Bad:
-Easy
-Boring visuals and gameplay (No offense but your material using was just... Ungh...) It realy didn't have anything to do.
-Short and slow. Gameplay didn't move on and it made it boring.
Overall I gave it 3 stars since it could be better by few simple improvements. Visuals need many, not so simple improvements aswell. As F4F level I would like you to play my level: 'Marshy Dungeon of Mysteries' thank you!
