Deep Jungle (Race) Sabre_ & L1gHtMaRe
Race Through a vast Jungle while trying to avoid lots of obstacles...1 to 2 Players MAX

http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/Sabre_LBP/ICON0-3.png

This is a very very old level that we had created wayyy before Comix Zone,Umbra Valley series, Kinetic Crisis etc.... When we started this level it was for a kingdom hearts project and we was doing ours on "Deep Jungle". As we were creating the group had few problems with nobody really trying to get this project done so the group eventually broke up leaving us with half the level done so we made it into our own level instead.

http://i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af317/Sabre_LBP/APhoto_29.jpg

But that wasn't the WHOLE problem, as we continued to build and test in play mode we started to notice things were disappearing and we couldnt figure out how to fix the (unknown glitch)...We only had HALF A THERMO! so we had to take out the platforming part and make the whole thing into a race filled with obstacles and very fun once you get the hang of it...

P.S
WE CANT ADD ANYTHING OR ELSE THINGS WILL START TO DISAPPEAR...Also a REMAKE will be coming soon after Underground Ruins (Remake) is completed and Comix Zone 2 is completed

Just played your level after I finished some updating. You have a level by almost the same name locked, so at first I was lost until I found it hidden on the US part of your planet. Started out with a nice wodden house and a good jumgle vide. Wasn't fully sure if I was supposed to jump down to where I did or not, so I went both left and right, to the left you can see out of the level or to the sky, wasn't bad, just wasn't sure if that was sunlight or the camera being like it always is in LBP and just going its own way. Decided to jump down and then started the race (nice level title there). The glass ramps were well done, and the thumos sounds fit in really well with the trees...I began to feel a bit let down when the later trees did not make the sound. Had fun jumping, though the first vines threw me a bit because they looked like the rest of the gree background, maybe a little dab of yellow so they stand out more. The vines worked good, got through the next area. The R1 bit the first jump was a bit awkward and then to get up to the flutterby the branch did not always want to let me on. I think the very next part where the branch breaks off did not work fo rme the first time, had to fall and die, and then when I landed on it a second time and moved a little it broke. Liked the jumps and redirects, the going towrds the spikes was a bit mean, but in a good way. Missed the sound effects starting around this point, oh and my time ran out wayyyyyy early, around about the time of the breaky branch. Got to the end and saw I was not so hot on the scoreboard...stupid timed races $%#%.
It was very well done for a race, the first part dragged a bit, I liked the look, but it was a bit empty of moving anything, and I am just talking about the intro area. You could ad some shadow beams of bright white or blue for the light streaming in throught the canopy. Some of that killer gas could be exposed for forest mist, and I am not sure why I wished there was a little waterfall. I am sure your thermo is maxed though. Also some of the trees (cloth parts) could get some touch up cornerwise, but not really needed either. Did want more of the sounds later on, and those couple jumps, the vines, and the branch not breaking are the things I would reccomend...oh and move the level on your planet.

If the feedback was any use and you get the time *cough* F4F *cough* OK Choice *cough*...

Well if you read our whole post you would see why it isnt a polished level. We have some kind of glitch that makes materials turn invisible if we add anything to the level. Our thermo was nowhere near max. It was less than half way, which is why this is frustrating. Thats also the reason why we didn't make this f4f. We just wanted to see what people thought of te concept level. We'll eventually remake it into something awesome. Thanks for pointing out flaws for the remake we'll make a list of things to change. Ill check out your level and leave feedback, after i get some sleep. Its 5 am 2010-09-11 10:00:00

Brings back memories don't it.

... not exactly the kind you'd like to bring back, but anyway, they're there.

Everytime I play it, no matter how much times, I get tricked by them spikes. I keep forgeting to jump.

You never know, the kingdom hearts project could be revived... not likely though.

Nice level. Overall good gameplay, nice visuals, and a good environment feel.

A few nitpicks:
During the slide area where you have to jump up and down to avoid spikes:
It's rather hard to tell the spikes are coming and what to do, and, when you grab onto the swinging vine at the end it is very hard to tell where to go.

Also during the slide, if you grab, sometimes you can grab onto trees in the background, and then fall behind the level.

I likes.

Yeah I read about the things vanishing. But figured I would give feedback on it, because it was a nice level. I have had the same issue, too many stickers on a single object that is linked or objects located on a certain level vanishing if another is touched. I guess I should have added in that part about my question...which things are vanishing, and is it one massively linked object? Just wondering because I have not found any workaround on the objects vanishing if the item is linked, and I just have to end up tweeking and then readding the most inport vanished things when I finish the other work and hope it stays that time around. Also you don't need to F4F, just saw this posting had no replies that day, and figured I would check it out...then threw that last line in as a joke. 2010-09-11 17:08:00

Okay, well I played this level, and thought it was very good. It looks great (if a little samey-samey all the way through), and it worked flawlessly.

My biggest gripe is with the R1 sections where I had to roof swing. They were a drag because they slowed down the level big-time, and on the second one I thought I was supposed to go right and died over and over (and ran out of time on the clock).

The last bit of gameplay, where you're being launched from place to place, and have to react in split-seconds to the environment was awesome.

Overall, this level is like Sonic. When he's going at a mile-a-minute frantic pace, it's awesome, but when he slows down to a dead stop it's not fun.

If you can keep up the frantic pace of the last bit for the whole level, I think it can be really fantastic.

Also, after playing, I saw your level Kinetic Crisis. Now that was a totally brilliant level. <3'd that and you as a creator for it. Err, L1ghtmare made it... (confused) I'll have to heart him too.

@ TT

Yea, man! The project was good..its just we needed more people willing to do some creating and not just take up space. That project was fun while it lasted.

@ Fishrock123

LOl! Alot of people complain about that section. I think we made that area to bunched up together. In the remake it'll be spread out just a little bit. We'll also add signs to tell people whats coming ahead and have better camera angles. We didn't have thin gas back then so on a level like this it would have been perfect. Thanks for the heart, stars and suggestions

@ Celsus

Thats the thing. We barely got to do any sticker work and the objects that do have stickers only have like 5 on them. Its very wierd. They can be linked or unlinked. Everything after the bottom last slide area disappears if we add anything after that. I like doing feedback bro so I will be playing your level. Thanks again

@ Grethiwa

Yea we agree it does slow the race down. It was originally made to be in Talbot Trembler's Kingdom Hearts project so it was going to actually be a full level. Since that didn't fully work out, Sabre_ and I turned it into a action packed race.

Yea Kinetic Crisis is my baby, lol. I was spotlighted for that one . Thanks for the hearts . Glad you like my work.

From reading the description I didn't expect this to be as good as it was. Everything looked nice and the sliding around and getting shot out of the trees was fun. Though it didn't really have the gameplay I usually go for I had fun but didn't finish the race before the timer went out.

Since you can't really add anything into it I'd say try zooming the cameras out farther if you can do that, I felt like they were too zoomed in throughout the level and made some of the parts harder than they should be. Also because you used green colored wood and green colored grabbable material everything sort of blended in together and was kind of hard to tell what was going on in some spots. Obviously your going for a jungle appearance but maybe a different colored wood would help that or some stickers if it's possible to put them in.

Just some general advice since you can't really do much else with the level. Since it was just a race, or race portion of a level, it would be much better if it was shorter at about half the length Several spots where basically just the same sliding jumping and getting shot around part repeated with some variations. There were also a lot of spots where I got lodged onto layers in the back because I jumped too soon or high while I was sliding. Invisible walls or just using thin layers in the background always helps with that. Overall it was better than I thought it would be and I enjoyed it.

Lol, that is strange. Is it stickers, devices, or the materials that vanish? I have had one where if I selected anything on the level the pistons would all vanish at once, but that whole level was linked. The things like that seem to vary on my levels, sometime gluing does it, some times corner editing, sometimes cutting, sometimes selecting...but no matter what it really is bad when you save then play it the next day and notice...hey my entire level just collapsed... 2010-09-11 22:37:00

I say lets crank it out in a month before lbp2 hits. But that's just my opinion

I got a chance to play this on my own the other day, and I really liked it for it being what it was. Did you ever think about moving the entire level into a new crater? it might work, it worked for some of my levels that had crazy glitches.

Hello,

I have just play it, and my first impression is it look good, nice work for the texture and how you make the trees.

But, something are not so cool in your level.
First, the first vigne are quite difficult to see them, and more, for a race, it's very slow to pass to one to the other, maybe, delete ones, and increase the gap between each other, in order to have more speed and look more at Tarzan style, jumping one to other

Next, the R1 part is also slowly for a race, I think. And after the 2nd R1 part, maybe a checkpoint will be apreciable.
I spend lot of time also to jump onto the branche to get Tarzan, from the bottom branche without seeing the upper branche on the left, maybe to much color identic by here.
Anywhere the part with the slide are pretty fun
Only few things, maybe some wood panel that indicate where to jump, and where not, could help the people more casual. Because I have jump at the only moment that you don't need to jump, and I pass throw the tree to arrive to the floor, and need to kill myself.
And like as say the other, the branche that breack, don't work correctly, because, you don't have suffisent speed to reach the point at the other side, and you die

The ultimate thing, is the time is toooooo short

Good Job :star::star::star::star:

Thanks Frogboy! Hope you enjoy it.

Yea, we'll see what we can do with some fixes but adding anything usuall triggers it. We'll most likely make the true race level in lbp2. Thanks for the plays guys!

Hey, nice level. You've pulled off the jungle theme well, I rarely see that in levels, though it could still use a few more decorations. Overall, the game play was the best part of the level. Lots of point combos, grabbing, swing, sliding, jumping, etc. Another thing that I liked was how you uused the Savannah music, it fits the jungle theme perfectly. Overall, nice work, I rated the level :star::star::star::star::star:. 2010-09-18 02:28:00

Sorry for taking so long to get back to your F4F request, I've been terribly busy.

Story/Dialog

N/A

Gameplay

+ The vines immediately after the first jump were pretty cool, but a tad difficult to nail
+ Very fast paced and fun
+ A few tricky secrets to uncover
- I broke one of the vines by grabbing it at the top instead of the bottom
- The spikes on the ice slides came way too fast and without warning

Design and Aesthetics

+ Great use of contextual sound effects
+ Looked quite natural and organic, but...
- Perhaps a little too much Floral Fabric in my opinion. Most of the level is made up of it

Final Thoughts
A fast paced racing level. It was pretty fun, but it seemed to be missing something. It was mostly swinging from vines or spamming your way up a tree with R1. I played it alone, so who knows? Maybe it would be more fun with some competition involved.

+/- Spread
+: 5
-: 3

Spread: +2

Final Score: :star::star::star::star:

Yeah as said in the description this level was suppose to be a real level & due to a glitch we were having making our materials disappear as we added more to the level we had to stop & make it into a race instead so it was originally suppose to be a level from Kingdom Hearts Project me & L1ght were in & it got cancelled. So thats why we stuck with same material in beginning. For the veins snapping it seem pretty realistic but due to the glitch we cant do any changes to the level.
