Q: What is the LBP2 Beta.
A; It's a closed beta for MM to get feedback / bug reports on the game before it goes gold for release. It's not super-fun happy play time with LBP2.

Q: When does it start?
A: For the EU, it started on the 8th September 2010 and for NA it was supposed to be starting on the 14th of September. However, due to the unpredictable nature of Sony Computer Entertainment, this date has been and gone with no word. The best information that has been brought to light is from this blog post (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/09/10/littlebigplanet-2-beta-update-featurettes-pax-2010-wrap-up-lbp-on-twitter/) stating that rollout for NA and the rest of the world will be "in a few weeks".

Q: What about other regions?

Q: I'm in NA and I can't stand the waiting! Is there any way I can find out sooner whether I am going to be in the beta?

They normally add access to the forums before emails go out, but I'm unsure whether the NA participants have been granted access yet or not. Clarification anyone?

Q: How are beta participants selected.
A: All members of the Online Create and Water Betas have been kept in the team. In addition an undisclosed number of additional testers will be added. We have been told by Sony that this is based up how "active" they are in LBP, however, without any clarification on what "active" means, we really don't know what the selection criteria are.

Q: People have been claiming that we need to have a Playstation Plus subscription to get the Beta!!! Is this true?!
A: Patently false, in fact. You do not need a Playstation Plus subscription to be selected for the Beta.

Q: I'm in NA and I'm hoping I get in still. How do I ensure that Sony can notify me that I have been selected?
A: make sure you have the two boxes ticked-off under account information on your PS3 xmb which allows SONY to share your information and contact you via your e-mail account.

Q: I'm in EU and I'm worried the email never came, because I didn't have my setting correct. What do I do?

Q: Is there any way I can improve my chances of getting selected for beta?
A: Apparently, no. New beta participants have already been selected.

A: We do not know.

Q: Can I haz beta?
A: I already answered that. No.

Q: Can I get beta codes off anyone else?
A: Almost certainly not and at LBPC we are not going to support the distribution of, or begging for, beta codes for one simple reason: If someone gives you their beta code, you will have the beta client but no access to the beta forums, so will not be able to feed back to Sony about any issues you have. Therefore it undermines the whole point of the beta. In honesty, asking for a beta code on a site where everyone loves LBP is pretty pointless anyway.

Q: Waaaaahhh I wanted to get in the beta and I play LBP all the time and I love LBP and other people have got in and I want it I want it I want it!!!!!
A: That's not a question. And stop pouting, it's unbecoming.

Q: Wooohhhooooo! I'm in the beta, yay I'm so excited!
A: Again, not a question. Also, we'd request that you don't be so gloaty about it on the forums. We understand that you are excited but it's insensitive to other people who didn't get into the beta. Check out the section below.

Q: How do the site staff feel about the beta spam?
A: Something along the lines of: ^s*([^#]*?)s*(#.*)?$

Q: Can I haz beta?
A: You can haz infraction.....

Q: Come on! Hasn't there been an update about the NA Beta since we asked 14 questions ago?
A: Nope. There's no solid news on the release of the North American Beta... yet. The best estimate we have from Sony and Media Molecule is "soon".

Main Message:

Whilst we understand that many of you are excited about getting into the beta now that the confirmation emails are being sent out, please remember that for those people who haven't got in (and our North American friends who have to wait a little bit longer to find out), it's not at all fun to see everyone spamming about how they haz betorzzzz all over the forums (not to mention that it makes the mods angry - and you don't want to do that....)

In the meantime, please feel free to browse the official Beta forums (which are not at all horrible) that are linked to in your invitation email.

Right, I've updated this with an FAQ and I'm going to unlock the thread, so that further questions can be asked.

However, there will be zero tolerance for spam in this thread. You may ask a question that is not answered in the OP. You may also post responses to questions, but only in a straight-forward, factual manner. I don't want to see sarcasm, posts about using the search function or anything else like that. You may all add useful information that you feel is missing from the OP

Let's see if you can manage this LBPC, you have a tendency to disappoint every time we give you the benefit of the doubt....

Darnit, now I suffer from my own "no sarcasm" rule. Grrr. It's in the OP mate:


we do have a private beta forum on LBPC and ConfusedCartman will be around later to sort out access for people who are new to the beta group. If you guys have gotten into the beta, please send ConfusedCartman a PM with a screenshot of your email and wait patiently.

I understand that to ensure you receive the e-mail you need to go into [Playstation Network]->[Account Management]->[Account Information]->[Notification Preferences] and make sure that both check boxes are checked. I haven't really seen this posted in detail, other than a few off hand references like "make sure both your e-mail check boxes are set". It took me a while to figure out what those cryptic references meant, so I thought it would be appropriate to add this information to your FAQ.2010-09-10 15:16:00

I got neither any mail and I can't access the official forum (which I believe is the one you have linked up above), though I am still able to play the beta. Wait until they sort it out then... Or?

I believe it means to open the e-mail that shows you got accepted into the BETA, take a screenshot of it and send the picture to CC in a PM.

To take a screenshot on a computer, press the "Print Screen" button and open a program such as paint or photoshot and press Ctrl+V to place the pic, save it, upload it, and send it.

If you're on a PS3 browser:
Press triangle -> File -> Save Screenshot.

Upload to a site, copy the IMG code and post it in your PM to CC.

You get the Beta forum URL in the invitation email. I'm not sure a non-Beta can access the Sony beta forum. I'm guessing not, and I'm sure the NDA will forbid me from pasting the URL here to test this.2010-09-10 15:52:00

I skimmed through here and didn't see that anyone had given info about NA's access to the site.

I'm in the US and I have access to everything, the beta site and the lbp.me site. The only thing NA can't do so far is actually download the beta. Hope this helps, Rich.

Yes. It will work. (You will have to purchase and download it on an EU account I believe...)

Right, This question is to anyone with the same problem.

I can sign into the playstation Beta forums for LBP2 so this means i am in the beta... But, I have not recieved my Beta code email. I have had both boxes ticked since i first made my PS account and i have checked that just in case anyway.

In a thread on the beta forums, It said that i can send a email to a specific playstation email so that they can re-send me the Beta code. I have done this.

Ok, so is there anyone else with this situation here or who has had this situation? If so, please reply.

The minimum wait time is, I believe, 24 hours after you asked them.

You mean PS EU official forums right? If so:

You recived it Via email?

If so, I suggest PMing Liquid, the beta coordinator, with a screen shot of the Email.


If you got it from a friend, you cannot access the forums.


If you mean the LBPC forums:

This might have already been mentioned, but I believe I can confirm that new NA invitees can now access the beta forum. I clicked the link in your op and entered my psn id and password and got right in. I even posted a few times just to be sure it wasn't a glitch (I made sure they were relevant posts of course) and it seems to work just like it's supposed to. Just to clarify, I haven't been in any betas before and I haven't gotten an e-mail yet (though I suppose I can look forward to one now--yes I checked the boxes in the psn account thing and I have been receiving psn advertisements since then).2010-09-12 09:40:00

Take a screenshot of your email and send it to CC, and he'll let you in. The beta forums will appear at the very bottom of the main page when you get access.		2010-09-12 15:22:00

US LBP 2 beta coming ?in a few week?


For those of you paying attention, you?ve probably heard that LittleBigPlanet 2 beta codes are being distributed. Here?s the skinny: Yes, beta codes are going out. But globally, we?re taking steps to best test our server environment, so we?re distributing beta codes in phases. The first phase of testing started earlier this week with our European LBP community. In a few weeks, we?ll be growing the participant base with US and other countries. More news to come?

Yeah, it's taking longer and longer for "soon" to happen. My guess is that the EU beta will end before the NA beta starts. That's really a shame since I'll miss out on testing with a lot of the people from the LBPC community

I just want to say that I hope a lot of the users on here are recruited, I don't want any of the LBP fanatics to miss out on an opportunity to help the game be it's best.		2010-09-12 18:39:00

i won't even lie i partially want to be in the beta for exclusive DLC that they give for those helping out...so my question is this:

I doubt it. You'd need them to e-mail the code for the dlc to you and if they can do that, then you ought to be able to get into the forum (you use your e-mail address and psn password to get in).2010-09-14 02:32:00

I remember rtm223 saying something about this. If there is a beta forum here I can't see it.

Send CC some form of evidence - he can see the official forums too, so if you've posted there that should be sufficient.

Merging with the FAQ sticky, Ptwob, No one knows. Bugger, seems my merge went awry due to the timings on the posts. Ayneh, just pm CC with some kind of evidence and you'll be fine.

I can not comment on external violations (read: NDA violations on other sites), but if there is any inkling of a violation here on LBPC you should make swift use of the report feature on the content in question. I don't think we can stress enough how important this is, both for legal reasons and our relationship with MediaMolecule. At the very least we can take that content down and take appropriate measures here on the site.		2010-09-14 17:10:00

This thread should be renamed into something like "Informations about the beta" or something because the titles says that it's only of use for those who got a code. I wondered if the beta is out in the US and never thought that this thread could give me any informations about that. Well as the Playstation Blog said the actual beta won't be starting for North America for another few weeks.

However TSFRJ got a response that the beta INVITES would be sent out on the 14th. (from this site (http://www.ps3blog.net/2010/09/09/more-little-big-planet-2-beta-details/)) However this post was before the PS blog post...the date of the NA beta was changed afterwards.

So emails haven't been sent out yet. For anyone (in NA). The date has been moved.

I'm coming back in a couple of hours to decide who, from the last page, needs silencing (we'll up to, what? 6 now I think).


To summarise, the originally announced date of the 14th has slipped. This means we now have no real knowledge of when the next phase of the beta will start. "In a few weeks" is the absolute best we can do. Any updates let me know. TBH, I don't really see there are any questions further that can be asked, so consider your words wisely (and read the whole thread), before posting here.

There has been no official word on whether PS+ subscribers will get priority and the little information we do have goes against that. this isn't a question but more of a request...since syroc provided an email to report NDA violations i request we have the OP edit the list to add it...i know technically it's not a FREQUENTLY asked question...but it is very good information to provide for those who want to VOLUNTARILY help Mm/SONY/LBPC/etc. in keeping BETA information where it belongs.

Are you in NA?

If so: Invites have not gone out yet.



Either way: The email *should* go to your sub account if it's the one you play LBP on. (you will get forum access on the account that recived the email.)


BIG NOTE: You MUST enter the CODE on your MASTER account. Importiant to remember.

The latest NA beta news is from Tom_Molecule on the private beta forums. In his post with which the NDA was removed, he also said that the "NA beta is coming".

I have both of thecheckmarks checked and I haven't get any sort of newsletter, either. In fact, I'm not even sure what you're talking about. In addition, beta participants have already been selected. Either you'll get an email or you won't. What I'm trying to say here is: chill.

hey, im in North America and i was excited for the beta but then realized that i didnt have both boxes checked. of course theyre checked now but am i too late, is there a place i need to sign up for potential access to the beta or are they for real about this whole "active" users thing, if so i play lbp about 2 hours a day but dont publish should i start publishing some stuff im making to increase my chances or is this whole beta thing hopeless for me2010-10-03 18:45:00

those "boxes checked" are the two boxes you check when you first made your PSN account, saying that you will receive emails from SONY and their offers (such as betas)

as for the beta and the delay

i emailed them and this is their reply:

Q: I'm in NA and I'm hoping I get in still. How do I ensure that Sony can notify me that I have been selected?
A: make sure you have the two boxes ticked-off under account information on your PS3 xmb which allows SONY to share your information and contact you via your e-mail account.

I hate spam, and I hate giving out my information. As you can probably guess I don't have the either box checked. I don't receive marketing materials from Sony, and I don't allow Sony to share my information with its partners for marketing purposes.
Even though I do not have these boxes checked I still receive beta invites on the PSN. I was fortunate enough to be selected for the water beta and am patiently awaiting the arrival of my key for the LBP2 beta.
Right now all we can do is sit back, and wait patiently.

Mm is now owned by SONY, hence why SONY wants you to tick the two boxes to get your email. Back in the water beta Mm was still independent and back then they made you sign up to the water beta through a website, which is how you got selected without having to do the two box thing because SONY never owned Mm back then.

Hmm that is strange, because those of us that were in the Water beta were given our keys to the LBP2 beta via email.... So, IDK if you'll receive yours through PSN or not. Maybe you will I guess. If it were me, I'd be unticking those boxes and moving the occasional email from Sony (it's like 1 a week, at most) into the spam folder by myself.

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to avoid knowing when the codes go out because the forum and all related threads will light up like a Christmas tree.

Go to the official LBP2 forum, find a post that you can add a post to (without doing it just to be spammy), refresh the page with your post, copy the URL link, send the link to Cc. Worked for me, as I'm also not able to screen cap. Quick and easy.

Well - Absolutely everyone with access to beta.LBP.me should have the LBP2 beta client. If you're in NA, then the emails are yet to be sent out.

It has been said before that this is only the first phase of the NA beta. More participants will be added at a later date.
E-mails have yet to be sent out to participants, but if you can't access the private beta forum on the EU Forums or can not access LBP.me then you are not in this first phase.		2010-10-15 18:46:00

According to comments in the LBP2 Beta Forum, codes are apparently sent out on a daily basis for some duration of time, and the Forum access is updated daily at 5:00 PM. I would suggest checking back daily after 5:00 PM (I assume that is GMT).

Also, does anyone who is in the Beta know what area of the Beta Forum the "Nightly Threads" are located in? These are the threads that are supposed to state what area of the game the beta testers are supposed to focus on each night. I have searched through several posts and stickies on the forum, but cannot locate these threads.

(But I believe he entered it on his master acc, I'll ask him.) EDIT: He redeemed the code on his master, downloaded on sub.

An infraction in the site that's given t spammy/ rude users.
Depending on the severity it may cause you to be silenced, (unable to post for days/ weeks) Temp-BAnned. (Unble do do anything in the site for days/ weeks.) or Perma-Ban. (Not allowed in the site at all anymore.)

But as long as you're not spammy, rude, or go around asking for BETA Codes, you should be alright.
