Combat Arms beta

Archive: 7 posts

Eurogamer closed beta giveaway on at the moment, over 7000 codes left, so get them while they're there.

Not the best time to do this, with all the great games at the moment, but oh well.

Apparently it runs on virtually all PC's too.

Combat Arms, eh... Yeah, since it's been out in the U.S., I stumbled across some ads for it, I think on GameSpot. They've been all over.

Essentially, it phails. The production values are...low. The mechanics are close to being broken. (Particularly when it comes to the health department.) Weapon handling is skewed in horrible ways, and just feel wrong. It's also lacking features.

Is it decent? Well, yeah, I have to admit that. And it has a slightly addicting nature to it. But seriously, go play any retail game. Even if it's been out since 2004. It'll be better. (Counter-Strike would be an excellent choice.) Or just find any shooter for your PS3 you've had sitting around. It's way better.

Don't even bother with this game. Don't waste your time.

My mental comparison actually involved mostly a lower-quality version of CoD2 mixed with Counter-Strike.

Also, something I forgot to add earlier: In its concept, it's a great idea. And it could work very well. But it just falls flat in trying. Unfortunate.
