LittleBigSymphony: A Musical Adventure

~ A Musical Adventure ~

With the new Music Editor tool, I would plan on making a musical based game in LBP2. You play through Worlds, with 3 levels each, 2 are regular platform levels with the third against a boss of some sort. Each World would have a special gimmick relating to the music in the background.

There exists a cheerful world called Rythmland, with fun and music everywhere. Keeping watch over this world are the five great composers, Airweight, Shakez, Quickslow, Precissioner and Mozart O' Sackhoven. Each has a powerful talisman, shaped after a musical instrament. Airweight has the Xzylophone, which can alter gravity, Shakez has a Drum, which causes the entire landscape to shake and rumble, Quickslow has the Metronome, which can alter the speed of the flow of time, and Percissioner has the Cymbals, which causes platforms to appear and dissappear on the beat. Mozart has the Grande Baton, but its powers are unknown to all but him.

But, the evil Lord Maestro and his minions are trying to destory the world and have kidnapped the five great composers and sealed them into crystals. Furthermore, the talismans are being misused, causing chaos throughout the world. Needlessly to say, you must stop him and save the composers.

Peaceful Harmony World
A warmup world of grasslands and hills, simular to the likes of Green Hill Zone. The pitch of the music affects gravity, the more upbeat pitch, the higher Sackboy can jump. The background hills will also start to dance happily, simular to the World 1 map screen in Super Mario Bros 3.
Composser: Airweight is being held captive in this area.
Boss: Venus Flytrap. It can use the Xzylophone to alter gravity.

Jumpin' Bass World
A world which bounces and dances to the music. The visuals resembles a beatiful future cityscape with lots of green park areas and trees. The ground jumps up and down with everything moving and swaying.
Composser: Shakez
Boss: A floating mechanical bee like robot with two platforms extending outwards. She has the Drum which causes the world to bounce. Normaly you can't reach her, so you have to take advantage of the bouncing floor to get the chance to attack her.

Speedy Tempo World
The speed of moving obstacles in this world could vary on the intensive music. Other than that, this area is themed around a victorian clock tower.
Composser: Quickslow
Boss: At the top of the clock tower, you encounter the Racin' Raven. You then jump onto a mine cart like vehicle and speed off on the sky bridge. You fight the raven by shooting him from your car. As you damage the raven, he uses the Metronome, causing the cart, and the raven and the music to speed up, so it would be harder to dodge the raven's attacks.

Emitter Rythm World
A very colourful version of Sonic 1's Labyrinth Zone. Various platforms will appear and disappear along with the beat of the music. Will also feature underwater areas.
Composser: Percissioner
Boss: Giant Enemy Crab. Attack its weak point for massive damage. The crab uses the Cymbals to change its weak point, indicated by a targeting cursor.

Finale Encore World
All elements from previous worlds are here, thanks to Lord Maestro, who steals all of your talismans upon entry. The theif! Not only will the level bounce, but the speed obstacles and appearing platforms and even gravity are against you! At the end of the second stage, the ground will bounce you so high that in fact you are sent flying out into space! Fortunatly, you are given a dragonfly like creature to ride on, because its time for the final showdown...
Composser: Mozart O' Sackhoven
Boss: Lord Maestro rides in on a large technicolour dragon, holding Mozart's crystal personaly! You have to fight him in a scrolling shooter like battle (sort of like Gradius). Did I mention that he can throw entire planets at you? How about gigantic laser beams? Check. Shooting stars? Check. SUPERNOVAS? Check. Invincibility? Definatly, a final boss will have one. He loses that one eventually, though.

Any more comments?

It sounds like a good idea. I see you need some ideas for two of the bosses and maybe some more music themed ideas. I'll try thinking up at least some bosses if you want By the way you should mention your idea to Ingenious Frutions, they have a bunch of people that can help in different ways, one of them being ideas.2010-09-07 20:44:00

Sounds like fun! It reminds me of the musical world in Ristar.2010-09-12 05:16:00

This sounds like a really nice level series. As for world 3's boss, you don't really seem to have a pattern with the rest (with the venus flytrap, robot, crab and dragon), so how about some sort of boss you fight on moving platforms so it's easier to incorporate speed. You could have some sort of eagle, and you stand on clouds, which would disappear during certain attacks, like if he dived through them.2010-09-12 23:59:00

Thanks! Although, I made it a raven to fit in with the dark victorian era setting I'm going to make the Land in. How about racing after it in a mine cart, and having to blast it out of the sky? 2010-09-13 16:36:00

I got an idea for the Jumpin' Bass boss battle.

I was watching Tom and Jerry about a month ago when I came across this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvapzt8FKLk). And i thought, my god, that could translate really well to a level! So, instead of just having a level that bounces at the end, you could have a piano whos key would hit down, but you were actually standing on the hammers that hit the strings, and you would have to get to a key that was about to hit up in order to fly up and hit the boss. Just a thought. It would take a bit of refining, but I think it would make for a very very fun level.

Well, massive update on the first post. I've figured out that since Peaceful Harmony didn't have a music related gimmick, how about gravity? Also, there's also an improved plot detailed, about Lord Maestro sealing important characters (you have to rescue them) and retreving music talismans (from bosses who are using them for evil purposes) that tie in to the music gimmicks.2010-11-21 23:00:00

I can't believe with my eyes didn't spot this back when it was first posted.

With as much as I enjoy music, I'll have to be sure and follow this. Certainly haven't heard of anything else like it across the LBP2 corner of the world wide web, so as far as I know it's a good and new idea to look into.
