Emitter Leak?

Archive: 6 posts

So I'm working on a level, and I make emitters and hook them up to a proximity switch, and it works fine. For my own reasons, I decide a magnetic key switch is a better option, so I switch the switches, but when i connect the emitters and the magne switch and go to play mode, The emitters emit once to early, and then stop. This is a problem because The lifetime of the objects is infinite, and i need them to emit at a specific time. extra info: The magne switch is set to one-shot, and the emitters emit before the key has reached the magne switch. it's almost like the emitters are leaking then being shut off, like a fucet. At least, that's my analogy. please help!

p.s. if that wasn't very clear, ask whatever questions you want.

thanks in advance

Delete the emitters and put in new ones.2010-09-07 04:28:00

Sounds complicated...but let me give you some tips about emitters:
-If an emitter connected to a one-shot switch is in activation range, it will emit when you rewind in create mode.
-Emitters won't emit if the thermo becomes full, sometimes it will become full during the course of playing the level, so you have to make sure nothing will spike it up, such as a bomb blowing up and causing stickers to go everywhere.

Well, I've had this happen before, and it can be due to a very simple fact. If your constructing and paused the entire time, then the magnetic key switch light wont change. Just make sure that it is deactivated before you play test the level. To do this, just hit play for a second or two and move the key away from the switch.

Also, double check to make sure there's no magnetic keys of the same color in the radius and you just overlooked them. Sounds simple, but it happens more than you would think.

Check out this thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=33935-Irritating-Emitter-Problem). Basically, as soon as you detached the wire from the sensor, it puts an "emit event" in the event queue, so you'll need to flush it out.

I fixed it, Aya042 was right, and Dr. Murk was half right. I just had to press play, let the emitters emit and then delete the emitted item and save.2010-09-07 23:51:00
