Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy - Part IIIRyhas
http://i581.photobucket.com/albums/ss258/daneeyul/APhoto_12.jpgIn the third part of the Commander Keen saga, make your way through the winding passages and catacombs of the Pyramid of Shadows to find the next Council Member. Explore and Enjoy! (1P suggested. Moderate difficulty.)
My third level! A pyramid lies in a rainforest... and imprisoned within is the third Council Member. This level is largely geared toward exploration... try to find all the rooms and points!

It's based on the level "Pyramid of Shadows" from the old DOS game, Commander Keen 4: Secret of the Oracle.

Enjoy! Tell me what I can do better! I'm happy to participate in F4F, so feedback away!

If you haven't, now might be the time to play through Part I (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=32124-Commander-Keen-Goodbye-Galaxy-Part-I) and Part II (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=33062-Commander-Keen-Goodbye-Galaxy-Part-II)!

Pictures!

And a glimpse of the freakish logic behind it all:

Hooray! After playtesting this level in a couple of different stages, I'm happy to see I can play it for real!

I can already tell folks with confidence that this is your best level so far, but I'll hop on as soon as I'm not sandwiched between shifts at work and review it for real!

Hey man! Thanks for checking out Archaic Ascension, glad you liked it I just had a chance to play yours and I really enjoyed it! I loved the layout of the inside of the pyramid. It was well designed, and even though it was kind of like a maze you never really got lost or confused or frustrated. The gameplay was solid and the visuals were nice as well. I liked how you decorated the scorebubbles too lol. I thought it was a bit short, but it was fun while it lasted and I think you ended it at a good length. Great level, I'll have to go check out the other two installments of the series! I haven't gotten around to playing them yet 2010-09-08 01:34:00

Really outstanding job. I haven't played the first two yet, but I will after having played this one.

Nice use of materials and colors, layer glitch trees are first rate. Game play is challenging, but not too frustrating. I really loved the platforms that start to sink if you stand too long but rise with a little jumping on them. Brilliant. The different score bubble doodads had me a bit confused at first, but I gather these are references to things you collect in the original game, which I've never played.

I didn't do a great job finding everything, but I did rescue the Councilor and drag him per his request from the chamber. He could use the exercise though, lol.

If there's anything I might suggest it's a little variety in the music department and add a few sound effects. But it is okay without. I'm reaching here for suggestions.

So awesome job again, and good luck!

I'd love your feedback on my F4F level: Flying Saucers From Mars (remake)

Admittedly, I hate exploration lvls. Well, not that I hate them, but surely it isn't my genre. However, while playing yours, I always knew where to go and what to do, somehow, and that is the reason why I enjoyed the exploration thingie for a first time, probbaly. Mostly because since I never felt lost, I had not to worry about searching for the path, so I could try alternative paths.
The choice of materials felt a bit weird to me at first, but I guess it grew on me at the end. Thats my only nitpick on the visuals. The coconut tress looked amazing, and so did the outside lighting.
Shame on it for being slightly short!

Overall, I had good fun and I'd gave it 4 stars, even if ingame gave 5

- Fell behind the level while attempting to scale the outer bricks.
+ Cool how same doors did different tricks.
+ Black sludge!
- Hard to drag dude out of pyramid. (especially backwards)

Yeah, cool level, probably my favourite so far due to the fun platforming.

But as others have said, kinda short. When I fell behind the level, I saw shapes that could have been used for more gameplay. :o
Is it that length because you were staying true to the original or because of the thermo?

Er... that was supposed to happen!

No, actually... I'd thought I'd blocked off all falling behind the level. Guess not. I'll see if I can plug it up. Thanks!

That's for a few reasons... mostly because he's a creature and they have a tendency to want to stand up. I'm not entirely sure how to fix that unless he doesn't walk at all... which is possible.

Those shapes were my templates for shapes in other places in the pyramid. I kept them just in case I needed to add more. And yeah, it was short BOTH because I was staying true to the original AND the thermo. Those trees are killer for thermo space, as well as the gobs and gobs of logic for those doors. At any rate, the level I'm working on now should be significantly longer... we'll see.

I loved playing this on my own!

I loved how the pyramid opened up and the music started. Better than you described it!

I may have been at a slight advantage, because I've gone through it with you, but I really do think this is your most user friendly level as far as being explorable without ever feeling like you're going in circles.

Your visuals are getting stronger and stronger. I'm jealous.

The platforming was challenging, but not frustrating. Everything was perfect as far as that goes.

I had fun dragging the guy out at the end. No problems, except that the first time the scoreboard sucked me in and I didn't get all the points... but...

I played it again just to get them.

I might be biased because we're friends and I felt really fortunate to get some sneak peaks, but this is your best level yet, and a lot of fun in its own right!

Need I say? :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3!

Good work on this level. The visuals of this level has improved over the 2 previous levels and the gameplay stays fresh. The jungle layer glitch looked cool and well polished and the pyramid design looked amazing too. I forgot what needs to be fixed in this level but this is your best one yet. 4 stars.
