Well For alot Of people Making an explosion Can be very very difficult. Of course Some people have made alot of cool explosions.

There are many differant styles , and tecniques used to make explosions.

Of course I will Show How I make my style.

There are 2 Steps Into Making a Good explosion.
One Is the Camera.
Second Is the Actual Explosion.

Of course I will Show every detail.

On The Pictures only Look at the Stuff Thats Red or/and White

First i use A Base Trigger ---( a Switch That Activates the entire Explosion)
-------------)

CAMERA SECTION

O I made A target Looking Circle. , and Stuck a paintanator Switch To It.
So This will be Our Base Trigger.

Of course You can Use All of the Switches Such as:
Proximity
Key Swtich , Ect. Every thing works.
SO here is my base trigger , So when I shoot it With the Paintantor Is activates The explosion. Which should be a One Shot..( Explosion Should Only Activate Once)
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut1.jpg

Though You cant see The Switch It is There.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that We have our base Trigger , we can start On the camera ( Which I usually start on first when making an explosion)

For the First Part Of the camera Section , We will need some kind Of permanent Switch.(only if You want the explosion to happen Once.)

So I just made a simple Paintantor toggle Switch (Same Thing as the Permanent Just more nifty)
basically When You shoot The base Trigger , It activates The Permanent switch (In my Case My Paintantor toggle Switch)
But any Permanent Switch Is just as Fine , As Long As You Make the Switch A One Shot..::

Permanent Switch-------------- Should Be ONE SHOT.

Here Is my Paintanator Toggle Switch (permanent Switch)
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut2.jpg

basically When The Base Trigger Is activated is activates the emitter On the Left Side Of the PTS --( Paintanator Toggle Switch).. Anyways The emitter shoots a Few Paint Balls (from The Paintanator) to the Paintantor Switch On the Right SIde Which IS one Shot.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now We will Need An actual Camera Shaker.
This IS fairly Important To the Explosion. IT Gives the Explosion Feel. Without It you will basically be getting a Flash Of light

.
Which In my mind Unexceptable.

So This Is pretty easy To make however.

Just make Two Blocks Materials.. (one Should Be Dark Matter , The other Is what ever you want)

On the Block That isnt Dark Matter attach a Camera to it. ( and MAKE SURE ON THE CAMERA THAT THE PLAYER TRACK IS ALMOST EMPTY--The reason why IS that When Its Full (default) The Screen Dosent Shake When its supposed to .

Now that we have our 2 Blocks (one should be dark matter , and the other should have the Camera On it)

Attach A piston To Both.

Piston Settings..
Every thing SHould be Default ( should be the same)
Except That The Frequency is changed To 0.1s.
And That It is Stiff.
Everything Else Should Remain the Same.
I made One , But it turned Out that I didnt Copy it From The PS3 To my Computer.. ARg! So I am Unable to show you a picture of what it should look like.

But to sum It all Up.
|Dark Matter|----- Piston--------- |Material With Camera|
If this Dosent Make sense Then Please Tell me.
So basically You Should Have a block of dark Matter strapped To a Material (with The camera on it) and The Material (with the camera ) should move side to side At a fast pace.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now here comes One of the Trickier parts.
You will Need to come up with a Timer Mechanism For the Camera.
(Basically you need a Device that Makes the Camera Mechanism (That we talked about above) Move SUDDENLY , Then Slowly Slow Down , Then Eventually Comeing to a stop.

I made A Device In which Involves a magnetic key moving back and forth on a piston block.
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut3.jpg

As you can see The Magnetic Key Switch on the Right , Is at the TIMER BEHAVIOR and is hooked to the camera mechanism That we talked about above.

Basically To sum Up the Entire First half Of the Tutorial.
We have the Base trigger , That activates the permannt switch. The Permanent Switch activates The Timer Mechanish ,(above)
And The timer Mechanism Activates The Camera Device.
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut4.jpg

As you Can see At the Very end On the Right , Was My Camera Device , That Somehow I didnt Get a Solo Picture of.
BASE TRIGGER ----> PERMANENT SWITCH ---> TIMER MECHANISM ----> CAMERA DEVICE.

The Summary for the first half is. When I Activate the Base trigger , It activates the Permanent Switch (in my Position Activates The Paintantor Toggle Switch ( My Permament switch)) The Permament Switch (which is one Shot) Should Activate the Piston On the Timer Mechanism. The magnetic Key on the Timer Mechanism , Then Activates The Camera Device.

So to sum it all up. The Camera Moves Violently At first , But then Slows Down , Then eventually coming to a stop.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPLOSION SECTION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you dont Already have an actual "explosion" I would Suggest Make one , Cause then You wouldnt Have an Explosion.. In the First Place. So then You wouldnt Be reading this washed Up tutorial that seems to go on and on , And just seems to take up space and make you bored out of your mind.

What I use , Is a Big Cloud Of Gas (usually the Color White) Covered with about 3-5 Foggy LED lights.
Of course you can use all sots of colors. This is what I used in my Yeti Level (the one that I will be deleting.) The lazer that just seem to randomly come out of the Yeti's Hands..
You can change the Color Of course. I mainly Use 2 yellow LED and 2 red LED.
You can glue them Together. And there You have it , A giant Floating blob , That seems to just sit there.
Of course If your a real over achiever you can add flying sparks or rubble fLYINg about.
but we will get to that another time. Sorry if your disapointed in me not showing you how to make rubble fly out everywhere
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
keep your "explosion" blob for a moment , and we will slowly start making the Explosion Section.

Like the Camera Section in the first half of the Tutorial , You will need another Base Trigger and another permanent Switch.
I would suggest useing the same Base trigger From the First Section. but another permanent switch (such as my Paintanator Toggle Switch)

And we will need a block , With 2- 4 emitters on it. and 1 - 3 Sound Circles on it.
Such as :
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut5.jpg

On the first Part of the Block , I have 3 Sounds..(each one Is explosion Sound) You can edit this to you liking.
And on the Bottom Block I have 4 Emitters.
2 Of which will Emit The Big Flashy Gasy Blob that I just showed you above.

And The other 2 SHould emit Something Like Rubble Flying Or , Sparks Flying (which is Optional Of course)

But I will just show you the 2 emitters that Emit The Big Gasy Blob.

Those Two Emitters Should have the settings:..
Linear; 00.0
Angular: 00.0
Frequency:0.1s
LifeTime: 2.00s
Max Emitted; 1
Max emitted at once: 1
Visible --optional.

Most of this you can change to your liking and what suits you best , But to me These are the settings I mostly use.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Permanent Switch Should activate the sounds and The Emitters (ONE SHOT) all in sync (all at one time)
So it should Look like this..
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut6.jpg

We have the base trigger on the Far left , which activates the Permanent switch. the permanent Switch then Activates The explosions and the sounds , Useing One shot ( optional) Then BOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EXPLOSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the Far Right. Or in The desgnated area.

BASE TRIGGER ---> PERMANENT SWITCH ---> EMITTER AND SOUND BLOCK ----> BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can Combine These ,and what Not , To whatever suits you best. This Tutorial Happens to show you the way on how I make My explosions.

Of course You can Make Your Own Style , Like what Anposteller did , and What Dr.Pepper did.
Each Of us Have our Own styles.

But This is what My Bomb tool Looked like with all this stuff , In this tutorial Combined.
http://www.littlebigland.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/skyler-tut7.jpg

You have the Camera Section On the Top . And The Explosion Section On the Bottom. All actiavted by the base trigger on the far left.
