water material

I think water should be a material, so say I want an above ground pool filled to the brim with water. If I use a water switch, then every thing level with the pool would be submersed. But if it's a material then i just pop it in the pool. | 2010-09-06 19:37:00 Author: Coro Posts: 7 |
Not possible in the way you hope in to be like. Since water is "3D" you cannot make little pools of any sorts. But there is animated water material tho. | 2010-09-06 20:50:00 Author: TNSv Posts: 302 |
This is a completely original idea. | 2010-09-06 20:51:00 Author: SackBolt Posts: 97 |

Well atleast we have water animated materials and filters good enough for me | 2010-09-06 21:38:00 Author: lyrradXOX Posts: 285 |
i saw a type of sponge or glass that had water running down on it in an lbp2 i think at e3 or something. | 2010-09-07 12:07:00 Author: Lgjoka2002 Posts: 538 |
@LBP_News_Crew It's called an Animated Material. What an odd name you have... | 2010-09-07 12:54:00 Author: Unknown User |
does one of those animated materials per chance be... ummmmm LAVA? cuz that would be awesome, even if you just have to colour the water material. | 2010-09-07 13:02:00 Author: Merc Posts: 2135 |
Fail... you just answered your own question. | 2010-09-08 00:34:00 Author: Moony Posts: 368 |
REEL WATORZ... I rest my case... anywhom, "water" Will make an appearance as an animated glass material, but "Dynamic water" will never happen on PS3 because of the system specs. True dynamic water will have to sit on the bench till next console. | 2010-09-08 08:44:00 Author: poorjack Posts: 1806 |

I'm pretty sure There would be lava material i know there is chocolate and jam can't see why they wouldn't include lava Edit: See Spaff said so himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkXOrw16sic , can also see some awesome "splash effects" at the start of the bumble bee level | 2010-09-08 10:50:00 Author: Jordanmcc Posts: 94 |
Bumblebee level truly shows their uber effects... seems rather dynamic, even though it's just a destruction option (it IS a destruction option, is it? I see people faking vivid pools of water with it and emitters ) | 2010-09-08 12:50:00 Author: Unknown User |
I thought of some water material, but in a way that you can create bubbles of water. If you jump in a bubble you float in it. + Tweakable option to make it stream to 1 side. (Water slide ftw) | 2010-09-11 01:05:00 Author: TjoxYorro Posts: 220 |
along with the mentioned materials there is also hunney, saw it in a vid somewere | 2010-09-12 11:37:00 Author: huntedstorm Posts: 488 |
Have you thought of stickering the Water Material and tweaking the flow speed? | 2010-09-12 15:32:00 Author: Unknown User |
OK how many times do I have to say this.... they could most likely make it very easy just take the water they have now and make its so you can make it any # of layers you want and have a pool of water not water across the whole level. just make the water in LBP1 into a material so you can smear it and it will float like gas. I'm not saying to make it dynamic water, just make it lbp1 | 2010-09-13 22:49:00 Author: FocusRSdude Posts: 145 |

You know, it wouldn't have to be REALISTIC water. It could be an object with no physical properties (like dark matter) except that any material in it acts like it's underwater. Kinda like what TjoxYorro said. So you could have a random chunk of water material in your level that players have to swim through. Combine that with gravity effects and you could make some kick@ss waterfall obstacles. | 2010-09-14 20:02:00 Author: EliminatorZigma Posts: 173 |

yeah but some people STILL don't get it, they think were talking about dynamic water... I know I'm not the first but don't hate on me for trying to clarify. | 2010-09-15 22:00:00 Author: FocusRSdude Posts: 145 |
kinda pointless to be honest you have dynamic materials | 2010-09-15 22:08:00 Author: Pattington_Bear Posts: 777 |
kinda pointless to be honest you have dynamic materials Dynamic materials = you mean Animated Materials? Here's one who doesn't seem to get it [sorry] The water itself would have the same physics as gas; it won't move, unless it's glued to something moving or has a piston attached. But, when other objects go inside the Water Material, they would behave as in water. | 2010-09-16 17:42:00 Author: Unknown User |

I like this idea, before someone else posts "just use animated materials" keep in mind the fact that you could go into this water. You probably cant go into an animated material, since that is made to be solid. Even if this doesn't get in to the game, blue gas(as color + custom trigger radius) and a sackbot with the logic to slow movement speed when in the gas. Would get close. | 2010-09-17 12:59:00 Author: nagrom_17 Posts: 120 |

Add a mover that has a slight upwards force | 2010-09-17 13:01:00 Author: Unknown User |
Add a mover that has a slight upwards force To hold him in the water yes, I wasnt going for specifics, just general | 2010-09-17 13:07:00 Author: nagrom_17 Posts: 120 |
