music into binary

does anyone know any sites/software that converts any/some music files back into binary? | 2010-09-06 15:39:00 Author: JayJSE2 ![]() Posts: 164 |
I'm not sure what you mean. Binary is : 011100011001 All files on a computer, whether audio, video or program, are stored as binary data. The file format is what determines how the binary data is interpreted. Audio, for instance, can be a variety of formats: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_file_format#Types_of_formats What format are you looking to convert your audio into? My closest guess would be uncompressed WAV. | 2010-09-06 16:39:00 Author: Gilgamesh ![]() Posts: 2536 |
Well i think it would be easier to make it into a RAR or a zipped file.. | 2010-09-06 17:09:00 Author: Snrm ![]() Posts: 6419 |
I mean so it can be displayed as binary | 2010-09-06 17:22:00 Author: JayJSE2 ![]() Posts: 164 |
I mean so it can be displayed as binary You'll need a Hex Editor for that. You should be able to find some freeware or opensource ones on google easily. I'm not sure what you're expecting to see though. Binary and Hex representations of files are pure gibberish. Unless I'm not understanding something. ![]() | 2010-09-06 17:35:00 Author: Gilgamesh ![]() Posts: 2536 |
what I want is just the 1s and 0s. I have a complicated art project that involves turning music binary back into music. | 2010-09-06 18:16:00 Author: JayJSE2 ![]() Posts: 164 |
Ah, that makes sense. Your best bet is to find a freeware Hex Editor. I think most of them allow you to see the binary data as well as the hex. | 2010-09-06 18:36:00 Author: Gilgamesh ![]() Posts: 2536 |
do you know any that are completely safe because it will be easier to convince my dad to install it if it is? | 2010-09-07 19:40:00 Author: JayJSE2 ![]() Posts: 164 |
Generally the opensource ones should be safe. I've tried a few but I haven't been able to find one that displays as Binary (Ironically, one program called "Binary Viewer" did not actually display files in Binary). All of the hex editors I've tried seem to only display as Hexadecimal, Decimal and Octal. Viewing as Binary does not seem to be as common as I hoped. It's simple to convert from Hexadecimal into Binary, but it's a pretty slow process to be doing manually. http://www.thcalasanz.com/thcal/decimal_binary_hex.gif I can't help much more than that unfortunately. ![]() | 2010-09-07 20:52:00 Author: Gilgamesh ![]() Posts: 2536 |
