I'm getting a little sick of this...

Archive: 52 posts

No, I'm not complaining about Shark Survivals, that get's on all of our nerves, but what pees me off the most is the pictures befoe the levels start. What the pictures are for is to show the level before you play it, not to show your stupid little costumes. That takes me to the other point, I thought sack boys are supposed to be cute, and joyful, and what I see in these pictures really irritates me. I without a doubt see a sack boy, with the over used ragdoll kung-fu hair, and some other "emo" stuff, they mostly always have spiky teeth and a coloured pattern, which is either green or pink, etc.

And then it brings me to the sack girls, why are they (I'll try to refrain from using this word so much) "Slu-tty"? And what I mean by this is that they always have the Mrs Dracula trousers on and eye liner. I hate this, it gives me a dirty feeling about them, which I don't want.

Now I understand people want Sackboys the way they want, but this is getting out of hand, I just don't like it

I would like to see good ole' cute sackboys back...

Well, a lot of people create their sackboys after their usernames or try to make the sacks look similar to how the player looks in real life. :o

As for the photos on levels... agreed. Bad bad.

Having "dirty" thoughts about Sackgirls?

Seek professional help

I agree though... uploading a photo should be about the level you are playing - not about the person who is uploading the photo - that's just vain and narcissistic.

My sackboy is neither my username nor what I look like. It is slightly humorous, but that's it. I wouldn't take pictures and put it at the start of my levels though.

Looks like someone has the hots for a sackgirl or 2?

I'm assuming the spikey teeth are part of the Vampire craze or something - but I never thought about it.

However, I agree with your overall point - people should take pictures of themselves "within" the level - taking a close up of yourself and uploading it doesn't do much. Although, I've always looked at it as saying "Here we are - we enjoyed your level". So, I don't think it's all bad - just not that useful in displaying your level.

That is why I always post my own 5 pics. Those get displayed before anyone else's - so, the pics advertise my level the way I want them too.

The only thing that irritates me is when someone posts a pic of something they've altered in your level or post of pic of doing something crass.

Examples - someone put a sticker on the face of one of my characters - took a pic and posted it. No real reason for it.

Another, was someone standing under one of my characters and looking up her skirt. It was a funny, naughty pic (simply cause it seems so out of place for the cute characters) - but not something I want displayed as an advertisement for my level.

But, I don't have any issue with people's costumes - sure, they aren't very imaginative or cute - but as was said before - it probably is a fairly clear representation of their personality in real life.

I have only done this for one of my levels:
A Spyro Costume Tutorial level. The picture was of me wearing the costume, so people can see what it will look like.
But I agree, pictures should be about the level. Unless it is a costume tutorial in which case I feel it is allowed. As long as they are wearing the costume shown in the tutorial.

Maybe in both ways, except for the "emo" costumes?

Yeah, I understand that, I mean, when my friend and I made a costume level we made a photo are so you can take a picture of the finished product and show it off, that works!

I dislike the costume thing too, it's extremely overdone. What also irritates me, is that when I look at the uploaded pictures, I want to see picture of the level, not the costumes, this way I can see if I want to play it or not, but all I get are silly dressed players always looking silly, maybe I should just avoid a level if it has pictures like that.2010-09-06 17:30:00

Yeah, but it's even in the story levels, I was loading up The Mines, and there was the picture, of a Sackboy, dressed like this, with a cap on, and had the "Sharp Tooth" covering one of his eyes, and next to him were 2 Sackgirls, exactly like the ones I described. For new players to the game, they're probably thinking "Err, what's this level going to be like D:>"2010-09-06 17:55:00

My character has sharp teeth and ragdoll hero hair 8O.

I don't really care for people doing this, but at the same time, I don't mind either .

As long as you don't keep showing yourself by taking pictures in random levels, you're okay to talk there.

I Dont think its a big deal :l

Just play the game!!
Get over it!! Just let people have there costumes!!!
People can have whatever costume they want whether you like it or not!!
For instance I get Keanster complaining about my girl hair but I like the look of it!! (I just wished it didn't have earrings (I use a sticker to cover them))

I agree with the annoying pictures. All the annoying emo-like things and such. And the slu-tty () looking costumes get annoying as well. *glares at fenderjt, and also the people that upload annoying pics to the story levels*

EDIT: As for the Rag Doll Kung Fu hair, I have no problem with it, besides the fact that it is overused lol.

So...LBP has a dress code now? Don't make such a big deal out of it. It's their sackperson, not yours. No sense in grieving yourself over how you think costumes " should " look. 2010-09-06 19:10:00

... I also dislike people spamming pictures of themselves on uploaded level photos. I gets quite annoying- that feature is not your personal photo gallery! As for emo sackpeople- it seems with any kind of online enviroment, some people dress strangely.

I happen to like my monochrome costume (the one in my avatar.)

Just so you guys know, each level shows 10 photos of the level with priority in the creator's. So if the creator takes 5 photos of the level and uploads them, those are the first ones you're going to see. So just make sure that you upload some pics for your level
Case Closed!

@Javi: I prefer people to upload pictures though! Luckily my levels aren't well known enough to get spammed (partly because I never republish glitch 'em)

I do totally agree though. I agree they have a choice, but thats not really justification. Theres hundreds of cool costumes in the game, and all I ever see is the same pieces re-used over and over again.

I was once dressed only in a small top hat, the denim skin, the 'glasses nose and tache built-in' mask and a frying pan, and I guy asked me why I was dressed 'silly' (he was dressed in cool pages 'emo' dress)

Maybe I shouldn't find it annoying, but I do. Invariably the people who dress like it are annoying (though I'm sure there are exceptions.)

I agree that we should not use, or at least take detailed portraits of our... Un savory sackpeople... Wait... My sackboy is very very offensive... But it is not racy, or dirty, just offensive to some. I take the costume off when not with my friends, and I have never taken a picture of him.2010-09-07 20:14:00

lol You just made me want to know what it is XD

Anyway, the closest I have made to a "Emo" sackboy, was a Zombie, with vampire wings and blood all over, and instead of fangs, HE HAS A NAIL IN HIS FACE

i laugh when i look up the pics on levels, its nothing to kick a leg at,

and we need ugly and dumb costumes to make the good ones look cool :3
its just like how we need dumb people to make the smart humans look smart,
if everyone had a high IQ then no one would be Smart, and that would be boring if you ask me *mew

IMHO I think it's annoying too. I'd rather on the story levels and people's levels that there weren't emo sackboys (and sackgirls) on the picture when I want to see what the level looks lik : .
I have this weird thing that all sackboys must be happy. I can't stand the look of a mad, sad, or scared sackboy. I'd much rather have sackboys with cat ears, chicken wings and beak, a turtle shell, and is green that runs around with his tongue sticking out.

I don't care what they wear, any close-up that isn't for the costume featured in a costume level is annoying in my opinion. It'd be really nice if more players cared about doing things to make LBP better for everyone rather than all the spam levels and close-ups.2010-09-14 02:44:00

Hate to bump a old thread but this crap seems to be even worse in LBP2, looking up any level in cool levels or MM picks and it's guaranteed that the level pics are closeups of super generic "emo" sackboys, what is the point of this feature if this is all it is ever used for? Wish MM would have included the option to only show pics by the level creator, reminds me how youtube refuses to give a option to not show comments on videos.
This kind of behavior in general annoyed me in the first game and I was hoping the sequel would find ways to fix it, it seemed like maybe it had at first but now I see junk like "free cool cloud" getting more plays than some of the truly fantastic levels I've played, for example it has more plays than some truly mind blowing stuff featured in MM picks.

@BinaryStarman: Actually, in LBP2, the image is instantly loaded up, and not just hidden.

And don't forget that even though this forum has a lot of members on it, we only make up probably less then 15% of the LBP Community. And the game is mostly a kid game.(Even though every age plays it)

I wouldn't technically call them emo. They can be wannabes or the real thing, just ignore them posers.

That's where you're wrong! LBP's level growth is like LBPC's Group growth... I joined a few months ago and had the 500th group, now there are 820... The LBP2 Trailer: "Together we've made 2 million levels" It then shot up again to 3... (Unless they mean uncopied levels... -_- (No surprise...) You must know the way of the alexgangsta!

Hero hair, Emo hair, I don't care or Zero hair?

This debate will go on forever... Just like a zombies survival...

Well, myself, I don't care... I like looking at them, because it gives me the inspiration for levels, exactly the same as all of LBP.

It is mostly those ones that 'Snog' in photos that makes you feel that they are emo... I like emo music... My brother likes chav music... Everyone's different, so be different. You have one life so make the most of it! If people like virtual 'Snogging' they like it. If people like dogs, they like it... I hate dogs, not small, cute or guard dogs though... People like hero hair because it's 'Sexy'...

yup individualism and all that great stuff as righteous as that is you have completely missed the point here. They could be anything they want but the moment you start forcing your image on to others is when you have crossed the line. Photos are there so that the community can have a still frame appetizer for the level they are most likely loading up, not so that they can look at your hideous sack 2011-02-26 00:28:00

One time, I was playing with a friend, and we were doing a level and he told me to wait so he could put on an emo costume. He isn't even emo! I think a few people dressed like that is OK, but if that many people have that outfit, then odds are that they just want to fit in because they have either no talent or no creativity. If only people made their own costumes, like my scuba diver and spec ops unit. As for the pics, those are probably the same people who make a big deal about twitter.2011-03-04 22:37:00

Four of the photos are about the level and the rest are camera mugging Sackboys that looked like they just walked out of some crappy rave. Makes me wish MM made the diaper and the pacifier as a single item rather than separate ones bwahaha.
