http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/341/einfoto12.jThis is my entry for the LittleBigLand 4 in 1 Epic-Ness competition. It's a pure co-op level and I'm very proud to get this baby finished just in time.

(___NEO___) (that's me^^) very very proudly (!!!) presents the LBL 4:1 contest-entry: Attender Alliance (co-op)

Well, what should I say when there's not much to be said - just: "What are you waiting for? Get the hell out of this thread, invite your buddy and then let's play this co-op level" :-)

Enjoy the obstacles, enjoy the scenery, enjoy your co-op play. Just enjoy :-)

One personal note: The playtime will be approx. 15 to18 min - if you hurry you can see the scoreboard
after only 10 min. Some people may find that this is a short level - word! - but with only five weeks, a full-time job, a girl-friend and a real life there has been no way to make it any longer (and it took me at least 100 hours to build!). So I had to focus on gameplay instead of level-length and after all I'm very very happy about the final result. I really believe that this baby is my very best project till now!!!

Very big "thanks" to my girl-friend - without her endless patience during the last 5 weeks this project wouldn't have been possible.

And I want to thank L1GhTmArE, TOBSn08 and Mnniska for their endless testplaying and motivation all the time during the last 5 weeks. You guys are the best! I appreciate!

It's been a pleasure to (stress)test this. I really can play this level with closed eyes and 2 controllers ALONE
This is clearly your best and most enjoyable level. Every 2x challenge has new ideas and gameplay. The scenery really helps you solving the puzzles.
15-18 minutes is a huge level neo
I'm excited how people who play this for the first time will react to this level
all I can say is, you should give this level a try!

Idk NEO...I wouldnt put it past him . This level was a pleasure to test and look at. When I first seen it I knew it was going to be epic. The challenges really do need 2 players and you will need to be coordinated too. Your best level yet. Should be a top 3 contender for that crown

heya. Thanks for the feedback on Archaic Ascension! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I just dragged a buddy into this level with me to check it out lol, and honestly it was a blast. Very cool platforming and 2 player puzzles in a clean and visually pleasing environment. my favorite part was where you had to use your buddy as a rope to swing over to the next section. the puzzle with the jetpack and paintinator was also really neat. The only thing I would change, is the last puzzle, with the two carts you have to push into two buttons. the materials look the same, but one is grabbable and the other is not. we figured out that you had to shoot the top one into the button while you could drag the other. It messed us up a little lol and we ended up playing through that aria like 4 times. also, in that same area, if you jump to the right on the bottom platform, you can escape through the level because the gas doesn't extend far enough. Besides those few nitpicks I thought that this level was a fantastic co op challenge. I haven't really played any of the other co op levels in the competition, but I don't need to to know that you've got a solid chance of winning. good luck, awesome level again!2010-09-08 01:31:00

Hi Duffluc

I appreciate your honest feedback. Well, the deadline of this competion has ended yesterday and so, I'm not allowed to change anything. and a big "ups": there is a big block of gas under these 4 plattforms in the last room - I really thought that there is no way to escape... :-/ what a pitty I didn't see this while testplaying. Yep: the last two blocks: one (the lower) is desolvable material cause it has to be destroyed when the last bridge slides to the left. There was no other way to solve it in a different way (well, for me ^^... ok, it would have been possible that the brdige pushes this block back to the left, but I thought it would be cooler to destroy it - seems to be a fault.. hmm). I pasted a sticker over the upper block that made them look the same, that was my idea that people may not see that there is a difference between them. Well, hehe, I really thought that it would be obvious that the player has to shoot at these two blocks - hmm, now I am concerned about it due to the fact, that I can't change it right now... but nevertheless: very very big thanks for your feedback and I'm glad that you, silence-rai and ferrrch hat a great time with it.

Thx guys!!! :-)

Finally managed to complete your level Neo, with the help of mrsvista and directions from mistervita, and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It's very cleverly put together with absolutely brilliant gameplay.

We had one ot two tricky moments with some moving objects and a lot of lethal ones and we nearly caused mrv to have a nervous breakdown but we had such fun and were totally proud of ourselves when we completed it.

Good luck with the competition, really hope you do well.

I just played through your level and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some parts of it were a little tricky but all in all it was very well done, I especially liked the jetpack/paintinator puzzle with the orange box. I would suggest though making some of the swingy orange circles a bit closer together because that was a source of frustration for us. Also the visual theme was a little weird but I liked it I've played a few competition co-op levels now and yours is in with a good chance, so long as the judges don't lose patience

Could you please give F4F on my "Platform Incredible" level? Thanks!

Hey Neo, I played this one today with my boy ,and we both had a blast with it. This level is truly a team effort. If your not working together you wont make it through. So I'm surprised my son and I made it through at all because we mess around a lot. No, really we made it through pretty easily once we stopped screwing around. I like your combo of materials, and all of the puzzles are brilliant. I'd say you earned a well deserved spotlight. GREAT WORK!!! :star::star::star::star::star:<32010-09-22 23:40:00

Hello Neo,

you made a realy great level.
It's so fun to play through with a friend. The changing Tasks are great and the gameplay is great. The visuals are great too (yes I like that word).
There is hell a lot of teamwork needed and this it what makes it so much fun.
The first thing I said to my friend, after we played through the first time, was: "Hey that was fun, I want to play it again, we can do better."

A brilliant piece of work!

Thx for these kind words smasher! I'm glad that you and your boy had such a great time while playing this level! :-) That was exactly what I had in mind when I build this level! Even if there are some challenging parts, I allways wanted it to be fun! :-)

Yeah: that sounds great: I guess that there are a lot of areas where players can do better to enhance their score and climb up the scoreboard! I love to see that, beside the obstacles, there is another kind of challenge here and that people are motivated to replay this level! Thx api-andi!!

just wanted to let you know i played this in case you didn't catch my comment in the game. i had alot of fun with it, and thought the 2nd halfs puzzles and coop were awesome. looked good, and had my partner and i yelling at each other more than a few times. the jetpack/paintinator section was very well done, and i haven't seen anything original with that idea in a long time... so props.2010-09-24 21:58:00

Thx Ninja!! Sorry that I didn't replied to your comment in my level, I have to admit that in the last few days I was totally lost in smashers awesome pinball level so I forget everything else :-) It's allways feeling great to see that people enjoy my work! And yep: I wanted the obstacles to get better in the second half: saving the best for last :-) My personal favorites are the race-section, the 3 big cogwheels and the paintinator areas at the end. But it's really really a pitty that this level has to be that short due to the contest-ending - i only had 5 weeks to finish this and it's a true miracle that I was able to finish this just in time. If I've only had 3 weeks more, this level would have turned out even better :-)

@Ninja: you wrote in the level-comments, that you love those paintinator/underhung sections ala SG - I'm not familiar with this, is SG a level or a creator? :-)

This was a great level with some awesome puzzles/platforming. I played it with my son and it was so fun to kibitz each other and point out how to get by each of the challenges. I think my favorite was when you have to use your partner as a swing. The whole thing was a blast to play and in the end, we went through it several times.

I guess this isn't a review, or critique, just a "thank you."

Id say this has to be the most fun co op level Ive played. The game play is really fun, giving both players an enjoyable experience. I think I needed a better partner though as he kept dying so I ended up doing both paths lol. Also it looks great too. Well done .2010-09-25 17:13:00

Hey thanks for commenting on my level!

You have made quite an amazing co-op level.
Everything looks great, I like the materials and stickers that you used.
The gameplay is never too challenging, but left me scratching my head a couple of times, which is a good thing.
The part where one person flies and the other shoots the paintgun was brilliant and fun.
Both players are always visible in the camera angle, making it fun regardless of which path you take.
The part where the players had to shoot the buttons to rotate the platforms was a really cool idea, probably the part the we had the most trouble with, but it was fun.
Overall, I thought this was an awesome level. Its no wonder you got spotlighted.
Keep up the good work!

Wow! This was one tricky co-op level! I managed to make it through though, and thought the puzzles were really clever and inventive. The visual style was pretty cool too, never seen a combination of materials and colors like that.

I got trapped in a couple of challenges when my friend died and I had to press try again. Not a major inconvenience, and it seemed unavoidable with the challenges you had put together, I just wanted to let you know that may be a common issue with people playing it.

I couldn't figure out how to get those prizes and points near the end, but I guess that's the point! I suggest giving more advice to players on the last section though. I died a million times just because I didn't know what I was supposed to be shooting at. Overall loved the level though, great work! :star::star::star::star:

Even when I don't win the first place in the competition (cause there are many other really good co-ops in it and in the end it depends on the judges preferences ^^), I have to say, that due to this comment it just feels like being the winner allready! To make a fun-to-play-level has allways been my basic idea in each of my levels, and when my most favorite creator says that it was the most fun co op level he played, it's absolutely amazing!!!!! Woah! You made my day! Thank you very much Steve!!!!

Yep, the section where you have to use your buddy (or son hehe) as a rope is great, but I have to admit: you all play the "easy" version of it :-) Tobs and Lightmare know the first version(s) of this section: the two orange balls on the right side have been at the same hight as the left one and so you have to use a very good timing while jumping towards your buddy AND coordinate your swing with your buddy on the other ball. I loved it that way, but this would have been a "left the game instantly" issue for many players cause it was a bit tough .... now the two right balls hang a bit lower than the left one and it's much easier now :-)

:-) yeah: I wanted the player to think a bit before they can solve some of the rooms :-)

Thx for the 5stars :-) The rotating plattform section needs a bit practice when you never played it before. Even that this room needs some bug-fixing (but I can re-publish this level only after the contest ending (end octobre)), it's really one of my favorite
@Lightmare: thx for the info about SG - I never had a chance to play this - i will check it out asap - i defenitely hope that this last section in my level is not quite the same like the section in Ninja's level ... :-)

This has been a tough decission: would it be better to tell the people exactly what to do, or is it more challenging to let them think (and try and error some times) about it a bit. Based on my experience in comphermc awesome co-op level "clowdy with a chance of teamwork" I decided to include not much information how to solve a room. I played his level and there is no info how to solve a puzzle and I (supported by my girlfriend) needed at least 30 or 40 min to see the scoreboard, but even when this was a really challenging level, we had a blast with it, it was an amazing team-play experience for us due to the fact, that we had to work/think together. I know that there are many player who won't finish this level because they maybe have not time for think about an obstacle for 5min or so, but I wanted it to be that way :-) I have to admit, I'm aware of the fact, that there are some areas where one sack stucks when the other dies - I really don't like it to push the "harakiri" button too - absolutely not! So I really understand your point. Maybe I would have been able to create some areas a bit different to avoid this problem, but with this 5week time-limit due to the contest-deadline there was not time for it. Nevertheless, thank you very much for your suggestions and the 4stars! I appreciate!

btw: the prices at the end: hehe - yep: here you have to jump upon the cogwheels and it's really not that easy. Word! I didn't want to make these prices (level-keys to my other levels) being part in a real co-op room - here you can jump up allone. So it's not necessary to get them to proceed to the next room. The prices & pointbubbles are just some sort of a bonus here...

Nice co-op level. My friend and I played this level yesterday and we had a blast. The co-op gameplay is brilliant as we use our teamwork to overcome some amazing mechanics and the usage of jetpack and paintinator worked really well. However, the problem my friend and I are having is the paintinator section after we moved the platforms using the paintinator that we have to grab those vehicles and I think the top one doesn't seem to be grabbable as we try to hold on to it like 3 times. My friend has to leave after the 3rd try so we couldn't finish this level, but I do have a blast with this level. Overall, this level deserves 5 :star:s.

F4F any one of my levels.

Thx for your feedback JustinArt - it doesn't come often that a player give 5stars when he couldn't finish a level - thanks for that! :-)

Well: you mentioned the grabbable carts at the end of the paintinator-section with the rotating plattforms: I made these two blocks "gabbable" for one reason: the lower block has to be "deleted" after the two carts hit the buttons to the right side: after the two buttons are activated, some sort of stone-bridge slides from the right side to the left and the lower "gabbable" wall will be destroyed so the bridge is able to reach the player. I just wanted to change these two grabbable walls into electrified or bruning-walls, cause the players just have to shoot these two walls into the two buttons - I have to admit that I'm not sure if you can reach the right side while grabbing these two walls. But due to the contest-rules I have to get permission to make changes in this level, but I didn't get it - so I have to wait until this contest will be over (I guess in 1 or 2 weeks or so) - after that I will be GLAD to be able to change this issue :-)
So: sorry for confusing you here !!! But I'm happy that you had a blast with this level ! Thx m8!!!!

Hey Neo,

I love the level, I think it has a very fair chance at winning in the competition. I think the double planed ladder at the beginning was not as original but it works so w/e lol. The co-op rope swing idea in area #2 is easily my favorite. You made that section better than any of the other competitors in my opinion. I didn't like the jetpack/paintinator areas beacuse they were really confusing and didn't give much direction to players. I also didn't like the part with the strange box that the player at the bottom has to move while the other player rides on top. I love the idea, but its extremely unclear that the ground is dangerous. Perhaps making that gas fire instead? or something idk. The ending section was also frustrating but in a good way. Took a couple tries to understand that you have to move as fast as possible. But i think you shouldn't have left a timer on the last platform because it takes too long for players to figure out what they are supposed to do next.

The spinning gear room was one of the most unique and coolest rooms. One player having to grab the middle so that the gears draw closer together. Very creative. I think you milked that a bit too much because you end up having to switch back and forth on these gears like...4 times. Using only 2-3 gears would have been fine but still.

Overall, an easy 5 stars and heart from me and regardless of who wins, i'm glad this level was published so i can play this with my friends in the future

Thx for the feedback nick (and btw: congrats for being spotlighted as well!!)

I defenitely will make some little changes as soon as the contest is over - but it's a pitty that I didn't get the permission to republish it in the meantime -
yep: the last plattform in the paintinator/rotating-plattform room is a bit tricky cause you have to shoot fast to be able to get this in time. I thought about it a long time, but at least my decission against a permanent-setting after the plattform rotates was based on my whish to make this last room a bit more challenging. I didn't want this level to be too easy so in the end I tried to raise the pressure a bit ;-) but nontheless: it's possible to pass the last plattform with just one player shooting if he's fast :-)

Pros:
Great Visuals
Nice polished feel
Good-unique-puzzles
Best 4n1 co-op entry ive seen

Cons:
Numerous tricky parts that annoyed me
Maybe a help switch in each puzzle would be a good idea, just one that says what you need to do

This is the level that should have won the contest. The judges that took part in the LBL competition were totally fixed. There were reports of them being friends with some of the winners. You should have won that competition mate. But whatever, in my eyes, you won so thats all that matters considering I'm one of the harshest level reviewers out there. I refuse to visit their website now because of that consiracy. Keep it up man and i want to see more levels from you 2010-10-16 16:45:00

Oh, come on nick.... I disagree with your comment. I never expected to win this competion, even that there have been some little chances. And I don't see any conspiracy over there at LBL. Even that I wonder about some runner-ups and wonder why some really brillant levels ain't listed, I don't think that there are winners/runner-ups due to friendship-relations. Maybe they need some improvement in their rating-system, but that's not my decission to make.

A big congratulation to all the winners in the competion. They are well deserved !!!

Thx for the comment bang126 :-))) glad you liked it that much! :-) There is one reason for not adding some hints/infos at the tricky obstacles: I just want the players to think about it for a while cause I just didn't want to make a level with too much "button-pushing"-elements without some sort of challenge. A very good example for this is comphermc' excellent "Clowdy with a chance of teamwork" .. oh boy: it took me over 30min to solve all puzzles - but when you see the scoreboard: it's a thrilling feeling :-)
