Revive

Archive: 16 posts

I think in lbp 2 their should be a option that lets players be able to be revived. To be revived you can go up to a player drag their body to a check point and a life will be saved and the player will get up.You could also restrict this ability so you can't do this.Or have the option to slap the player making them respawn costing a life point. Please comment nicely and thanks for reading!2010-09-06 02:50:00

Umm.... since "bodies" are not left when a player dies, I don't think that this is at all possible.2010-09-06 06:08:00

haha ownd.....
anyway, bodies will kinda incourage violence so they won't make bodies (thats what they'll say)
and what the point?

In other words, you have to drag the body to a CP for them to revive...?
Wouldnt they revive either way already when you reach the CP...? :l

A definate NOT for teh Slaps. Even though you and your friends may enjoy a good slapfest, some don't... amd imagine the accidental slap that prevents you from getting to the next checkpoint in a level of pure agony...2010-09-06 06:32:00

Well I said there is a setting to turn it on or off.Which is good for shooters if you want them in a direct control seat.It too could also be good for various type of games.2010-09-06 15:15:00

I said in a way when they die they fall to the ground,a good effect. You could toggle revive as an option.2010-09-06 15:18:00

If you use Sackbot imitating the players costumes that can probably quite easily arranged.2010-09-06 15:18:00

Well, I saw in one of the videos for one of the puzzle minigames - where 2 Sackboys were 'controlling' 2 identical versions of themselves in order to solve the puzzle 'by proxy'.
So if you have the option to make a "Player X Sackbot" that will spawn a copied version of your own sackboy - then you could have this emit once a sensor stop detecting Sackboy X. I don't think it would be a limp and lifeless Sackbot though, unless you can achieve this through puppetry.

So...what if they die on top of fire/electricity, or fell through gas?
They're done for the rest of the game?

What if they die in the middle of a spike floor? What if they get squished in a pit of no return? What if they fall out the play area and die off-screen? What if...

There's just too many flaws for a game mechanic that could be too "graphic", or something, when you're dragging your dead friend...

Use Sackbots and get slap-happy alone.

anyways your new but make sure to use the edit button,

And as for the idea your talking about, No, it will never ever happen, ever ever ever...
and you could fake this somewhat with sackbots, logic, etc *mew

Or maybe a checkpoint that allows each player a certain amount of lives, so you don't end up with a lummox dying repeatedly and wasting your lives!2010-09-07 22:22:00

Wow, again with the incredibly negative responses to a cool idea. Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers both have this feature, and it's cool.
To those who say it can't be done in LBP for some reason, that's insane. LBP is already impossible.
I like Macnme's attitude, trying to find a way to mimic the mechanic using the provided tools.

Yeah, I don't see this idea as being perfectly in the spirit of LBP, but it would easily be possible to add if MM wanted to,
and it would be very cool to add in your own levels with some brilliant level design.

I wonder if there is some way for a creator to know when someone dies... not sure. If so, you could emit a dead sackbody.
Grab it 6-10 times and a checkpoint appears, then vanishes. The problem seems to be knowing when someone dies...

Reason#1 why this is a bad idea: MM don't make things this gorey, and last i known
pulling a dead body around is not ok, yeah it be ok if it was done by a user,
but user made stuff is different then MM stuff, thats why we don't get Gun costume parts but its
ok to make Guns are selfs,

Reason#2 why this is a bad idea: The way most sackpeople get killed just how do we get their bodys back?
like it falls down a pit of no return/ on to a block of fire/ in a monsters mouth etc theres 100% No way you can get to the body without getting killed your self, And this Revive is useless outside of 2 or more players,

And this whole idea can be made with some sackbots and logic,
Not sure how to make the sackbot look dead but whateverz *mew

fumetsusozo, we are pretty much in agreement, then.
MM probably shouldn't and won't make it a feature, but in trying to give positive feedback/criticism I must say it's a cool idea
for a community level.
As far as not being able to actually recover the body, that is a level design problem.
Look at all the things people have done in LBP. How many of those things would you have instantly said "that's impossible!" to,
only to have been proven wrong later?
