Vanquish

This is the new game from former Capcom's veteran Shinji Mikami, director of Resident Evil 1, 4, Devil May Cry and God Hand.
The game is developed by Platinum Games (Bayonetta, MadWorld) and published by SEGA.
Release date is set around October 20th.

In the latest PSN Store update, a demo has been finally released.
I waited for it like Gold from the Sky, since I loved Bayonetta and couldn't wait to see a new Mikami's work.
Then I shall add, we PS3 owners don't have a really solid full action TPS like Gears.(No, Uncharted is not)

The game is awesome, one of the most frantic experience in gaming.
The action is ultra fast, thousands of projectyles flies on the screen at once, the character design and the graphics are top notch.
It's an experience that you have to had to believe.
If you download the demo, be sure to play the tutorial first, since it teaches you really well and simply the game mechanics.

Funny enough I found the demo by accident while browsing the store.

At first I was like ;l, then I was like , than I was like , then I was lie :o, then I was like :O, then I was like and then I was loke whoa....
(Specially when I was fighting that thing that transforms and those semi-large mobile suits that keep fighting even when 1/2 destroyed... O_o)

In short, that game looks freakin awesome!
I reccomend this demo/ game for anyone who's been looking for something actiony.

Did you check that if you're taking cover and press L2 Sam lights a cigarettes and throws it away to distract enemies?
Anyway it's really something that must only be experienced and not told about.
Even NinjaMicWZ said it was crazy.

After having played Bayonetta and see what happened in the later stages I can't imagine what will happen in Vanquish, since all this Mayhem is taken from stage 1 act 3.

Np I didn't know that!
*Goes to play demo....AGAIN!*

lol, aye, Ninja's going crazy about it. XD
(And with good reason. )

And as a DMC fan myself I can't wait to see more on this game as well.

Call that 4, I think it looks just awesome, and incredible. I am still a bit :/ to the demo though. First of all, I can't jump (at least I have not detected the button), which means I can't jump down from a simple freaking ledge
Second of all, I can't believe it looks so freaking awesome still.
I did not know about that the cigarette distracted enemies, though when I read the controller manual and it said "smoke break" I did not know until I tried it. I went kind of O.- though it was cool. There won't be any online function though I have heard, as they say it would be too intense. Bah intense, bring me the mayhem I say!

Probably a must buy for me, still

You're officially a new friend of mine for having acknowledged the greatness of this game. XD
And anyway I don't think that during a war a person would start jumping (lame way to say that there's no jump option )

Btw, If you are to "kill" the robot's 4 limbs and the head, but you dont shoot the generator when he shows it, how can you kill the enormous robot?
Is there a way?
And yes, I've played this quite some times now

The limbs are shoot-able/ vulnerable even after broken, no "can't be kiled" stuff.

Waiting for its delivery today.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!
I'll keep you updated.
I already downloaded the tri weapon pack that I got with the Amazon pre-order.
If this is like Bayonetta, I can't imagine how many hours I'll put into it to master the game.

Eurogamer debunked the rumor, the first playthrough without the movies is at least 6 hours (that is still very short), but consider that I put in Bayonetta (8-9 hours long) 70 hours of play to master it until I ended the game at Climax without being hit, since that's the fun part of the game.2010-10-25 07:43:00

I played the demo about 10 days ago and really liked it. I am happy to see the game is getting great reviews but apparently it can be completed in 6 hours which just doesn't justify paying full price imo (not including challenge maps but I really do not care about that sort of thing, it's all about the campaign for me lol). Will definitely pick this up in a few months time though 2010-10-25 10:54:00

I played a bit of it yesterday, and I must say that it's a really solid game and really fun.
Way better than the demo.
And it's quite impressive performance and tech wise.

I respect your position about not buying the game at full price, but this is the kind of games that push the boundaries forward, and I think that a game like this deserve to be bought at full price way more than COD: Black Ops or Red Dead Redemption (nothing against those 2 titles, one I pre-ordered, the other I got day one but am only 2 hours into it, just to say)

I agree a game like this deserves to sell well but CAPCOM made a massive mistake with this release window. Vanquish is in direct competition with Castlevania, Black Ops, New Vegas and even AC: Brotherhood for gamers dollars. These are all AAA titles (Vanquish included) but the question becomes: Do I spend money on a AAA experience that will last 6 hours or one that will last 100+. I think for most people that is an easy choice

This is always a tough time to release a game especially one with a new IP, they can succeed at this time of year but it takes more effort and it really helps if there's nothing similar releasing in the same period.

Since Red Dead Redemption was singled out it should be noted that this AAA sequel to a game with an average reception was released at a time when there was no other big games being released for the next 3 months. I'm sure it would have still suceeded if it was released in the current busy period but not to the extent it has done by releasing when it did.

There is also the important act of making sure people know your product exists aka marketing. In the last week I've seen adverts on TV for Enslaved, Fallout NV, Medal of Honor, Castlevania LOS and Assassins Creed Brotherhood. Nothing for Vanquish so far so it's not that surprising to see it making such a low debut in the sales charts.

Not only that, but replay value, if I'm done with a game campaign that's it!, whats next? I move onto the online or local multiplayer, vanquish could have offered that or something adapted to its style, like a special coop campaign, unlock-able weapons when finishing the game/doing certain tasks, etc... hopefully we can see that in the form of DLC on the future, but in the meantime, I'll just wait

I don't want to make it a matter of age, but I think that we are 2 different generation of gamers.
I can't care less about online, but I like to know a game to its perfection, master it and play it god-like.
The satisfaction I can have by completing a stage in DMC3 or Bayonetta without being hit and ranking SS or Platinum is priceless and I won't ever have it online.
You can play Vanquish just like Gears of War and have fun, but when you start to understand all the mechanics, the style, the times of the game, the game is just fun, even if you replay the same campaign and only try to become better at it, even because this is a game that is fair and doesn't cheat, so it favours the player's skills.
