A question on backing up LBP data

Archive: 5 posts

From the Tutorial posted in the tutorials section:

"go to PS3 System Software - > Game -> Saved Data Utility -> Little Big Planet. Press X. Press triangle. Select copy -> USB Device (Flash Disk). Do this for all your other games while you are at it."

Right in 'Saved Data utility' there is no LBP data atall, the only place i have any LBP data icons are in the 'Game data utility' to which i cannot choose to copy.

In the instructions above am i mistaking something? It says go to PS3 system software, i presume this means simply go to the middle buttons main menu, as a precaution i looked in the system menu and found nothing pertaining to a 'system software' menu...

Could someone give me advice on this? I'm presuming pretty much all of you creators back your stuff up regularly, i've tried to follow the tutorial but have hit this annoying roadblock.

Thanks in advance for your help. Dreamer

I backed up my profile yesterday, for the first time:blush:

My suggestion would be,
Are you sure you backed up your profile? It sounds like you did but just checking
Otherwise just search through all the game data and save data folders until you find the file that has "Backup" in it's title.

It shouldn't be too hard to find.
Then just copy to your USB drive.

I agree with SR2ODETDOG. It seems like you didn't back it up but you say you did.

All I would suggest is to try again.

Now i'm a little confused, i don't see where in my OP I may have said something thats caused you to 'both' think i've got as far as actually getting something onto a USB and backing it up.

*Nips off to computer after a brainwave to see if there is any option to back up your profile *in the game itself*

lol. thats what i wasn't understanding. I thought it would have been data the system stores on your PS3 automatically (like most other games)

Thanks for the help, I've got it sorted from here

yeah the backup is a little obscure. it came in one of the LBP updates a year or so ago, you have to manually back it up in the game itself, and only then can you copy that back up onto something else.

When you use the backup, the reverse is true, you have to put the save into the saved data utility and then manually IMPORT the data into the game itself.
