Mm is getting stin-gy!

Archive: 44 posts

I've noticed upon there DLC level kits there getting a little "Stin-gy" and why do they do that? I expected alot from the Marval kit, but it was completely trash. Even the objects you got etc. worthless. I mean it felt like 6$ for nothing, even the levels were put together poorly. It just really made me irate.

I'm curious if anyone else feels the same?

That is why you wait for reactions and impressions before you buy something.

I haven't bought it (yet?), so I don't know about the quality.

I loved the levels in the marvel kit. For the first time Mm actually made a level that was difficult to ace.
they should of gave us sound effects but meh, it was a good pack.

Loved the levels, some of the decorations I like too.
Most disappointed with the lack of superhero SFX, but worth the money imo.

I'm gave up buying the uncharted 2 DLC to buy the Marvel level pack (when I get my PSN card...) I liked the music, the background and the decorations.
Btw, isn't the Marvel Level Pack cheaper than the MGS and the POTC ones?

I 100% Agree Syroc, but I was told it was good. The best DLC I've played was POTC Level Kit* Needless to say Marval had not intresting.
The Music was ok, but eh.

All the same $$$ Wish they would lower the costume packs tho.

I was in the middle of making a comic book themed level anyway (2000AD) ; so the Marvel level kit came out at the perfect time.

& it's certainly better than the Incredibles level kit.

It does seem a bit hit and miss with the content though... for the same price - sometimes you get loads, other-times you get hardly anything.

At least they made a few proper levels for the Marvel kit rather than just a show case level, like they did for the monster/incredibles/history kit.

& I'll agree that the costumes are way over-priced for what you get (I still end up handing the money over though )

Most certainly the worst DLC Levels I have bought. And I think that for every 20 items, only one was good.2010-09-03 16:12:00

meh, it's something to play and new stuff... can't complain. at least something playable that wasn't just a single level full of prizes came out, and not just costume packs.2010-09-03 17:17:00

It kinda gets me that they spend all this time thinking of ways to give us the most flexible new toys in lbp2, but then come out with the the ultra niche materials and stickers in the dlc. Sometimes it seems like they'll put anything out, because they know a bunch of people will buy it, just in case there is one useful item in it. how many uses are there for the magneto leg sticker? And how many people have used the comic book collage matial? Did they even use the marvel materials in the marvel levels? I think they ought to stop with the name dropping, and just put out some awesome packs based around something useful. Even if it was cartooney, it can still be useful.2010-09-03 18:28:00

Yes but remember there are other team members that work separately.

I bought the marvel kit Soley for the music. No regrets.
As for the music, its ok. It works for my chase and battle scenes. But I wish they would just come out with another semi-story mode leading to LBP2. It would have around 35 Levels and be bought for 14.99$ as DLC. I'd love to see that, with good objects, SFX and decorations + materials.

I agree with you about the levels
I had love every level pack... well the history was pretty Lame~
but that could just be becasue i dislike anything history Yohohoo! xD
Anyways but the Marval was the most Bad ball of trash ever!
the levels looked like they were made by the Community o.O
but if that were the case then at that point i would say they were not half bad,
but they were not made by the Community it was by MM so that made it bad in this case
being one of their worst works yet, did not even have a power up like the other 2 did
and a lot of the levels was made with the incredibles stuff, the story was bad and the gameplay,
My fave has been the Pirate pack by far, *mew

And as for the costumes, they were priced fine, it been more or less like this all along
and its not that much i mean, 1 to 2 dollers for a outfit? thats not bad at all,
for a hobby its real cheap when you look at most other hobbies like card collecting~ *mew

"Told it was good"
That's ONE reason to consider buying something, but you gotta remember, different people like different stuff, just because your friend liked something, deosn't mean you'll absolutely love it as well, I myself found the pack and costumes fantastic and quite useful, but that doesn't mean everyone will feel the same, does it?

That my friend is why we have this little thing called "research," which is when you look around to see and check out a product before purchasing it, to make sure its to your likeing and see if its worth the $ for you.

Never EVER buy plainly on hype, I've done so in the past myself and regretted it... >_>

Anywho, about the "stingy Mm" part...

You do realize they've released over 130 DLC packs/ kits/ costumes/ etc. right?
I mean how many games have you seen that have anything near 100 DLC?
And if they do, do you really expect EVERY SINGLE ONE of them to be perfect?
Not to mention all the free stuff given away as well.

I didn't buy on hype, I bought seeing how everyone was saying it was good rated 4.73* Stars or something? About the huge DLC, yes its alot but you realise how much each is - 1086kb I believe? 1mb isn't alot and purchasing all there content is very well over 200$ I've tried in PSN to confirm.
Now as stin-gy I still believe this, I'm not complaining on the Costume packs. Just level kits, tho real quick - 1.99$ Is over priced only without pack. Say Heavy Rain DLC pack - 5.99$ - 1.99$ + 1.99$ + 1.99$ + 1.99$ I forgot if theres 1 one more? Anyway It costs you around an extra 5$ to buy separately if you don't want all costumes.

Now level kits, they could do better. like I said above - NOT SURE if LBP PSP is a semi-story mode leading to LBP2 - But I'd love to see one!

The dlc packs can't be everything to everyone. I didn't really like the Jon Burgerman sticker pack, but I have used a couple of them. I got the Incredibles pack because I'm a huge fan of that movie, and I've used a lot of the retro stuff for a level set in the 1950s I've been working on. I also LOVE all the architectural stuff in the history pack. Very useful. I haven't purchased the Marvel kit, but I got a chance to help a friend get the 4x stuff. And while I haven't jumped at it, it didn't look all that bad to me. I'm not a huge Marvel fan anyway. I haven't really purchased any costume stuff separately since I don't really care about that as much. I just want stuff for create mode. I would like to see a separate sound pack that would have a lot more common sounds. Still, I won't call MM stingy; they have been pretty generous tossing out a freebie or two around the holidays. I guess the thing I really like is trying to figure out what I CAN do with the materials, decorations and stickers, oftentimes coming up with uses far beyond their intended purpose.2010-09-04 16:17:00

Personally, in the DLCs, I don't really care about extra costumes, new levels or power-ups. (They are a welcome editions and I like them) But all I want is more STICKERS! =D

More more MORE!! +OwO+ (Loved the Jon Burgerman sticker pack!).

I formulated recently a method of getting the most out of a single sticker for creating new characters!
Due to the fact that.. when placing stickers, you are limited to controlling the position of the center of the sticker, now, I make a huge rectangle from blue wood or basic cardboard, and place the new stickers on it to study its features.. then I cut out or shape my new found element! You are bound to find the correct corner or the perfect gradient color or color arrangement for you next object. In my book, there is NO useless sticker in LBP. =D They are all very useful!

I wish that Mm release more, but also cheaper, 'sticker only' packs.. I am not asking too much, am I? <:-)

Buying costumes and levels just unlocks it. Everything is already installed on your PS3 for convenience, so you can play with others who have DLC that you don't. Bring on the incessant whining.

I, like most people, really wanted some new sound effects - very disappointed - this was a great opportunity to provide some fun new sounds. Very sad.

I recently bought the ICO costume pack - didn't realize it had a new sound.

What I wish we had more of are "decorations" - and sounds. Stickers are fine - many can be so specific.

I was very disappointed in the "Heavy Rain" pack. 60 stickers - no decorations included, no sounds - and every sticker is shaded black and white - so it will be very rare that I would have an occasion to use them.

More decorations and more sounds MM - get on it!!!

Soooo, we've all forgotten the significant number of free updates to core code that have been provided to us.

You know, just those little things like online create, profile and level back up solutions etc. And before that, the updates to allow invisible pistons and angular sensing areas and so many bug fixes and improvements to stability over the months. Even water, which is a massive change to the overall core code of the game cost barely anything (especially as it was bundled in with levels and creation assets). The costume packs etc. are over-priced simply because they are luxury items and it is those over-priced luxury items that allows us to have important things for free (or for nominal cost). This is a fantastic system: pay more for luxury items and pay nothing for the fundamentals.

Sure we haven't seen that much recently, but they've been working hard on LBP2 tools and updates and when you consider how much we will be getting in LBP2, for a mere ?40, I don't think that you can call MM stingy.

Plus, the whole basis for this thread is "I bought something and didn't like it, that's not fair!". Which makes me imagine you with a big pout and stamping your foot, which isn't the kind of mental image that is conducive to being taken seriously.

Even though i did not like the marvel levels, its not like that upsets me
i buy stuff i think is horrible all the time but if i don't like it thats my problam for buying it without knowing 100%
if i'd would like it or not, people like MM are not to blame for that, and like costumes are indeed luxurys
some of my friends say MM is being unfair by making them cost so much and that they are being money pigs,
but things like that are purely luxurys, you don't need them and if you have to have them you can pay for the
luxury of having it. *mew
