It's Almost Coming! XD

Archive: 48 posts

No, not my level. I'm completely dropping that project until I can get your opinion about this before I do anything else.

So, as you all might know, a year ago the LBPCentral Forums weren't so active as now. In an attempt to cheer things up, I decided to resurrect something that was sadly "murdered" to a bloody locked death. I'm talking about LBPCentrals Awards!

Tis' be true. I signed up a few months after the bloodshed, and ConfusedCartman thought best to leave it dead. However, after some shear will power, we finally managed to successfully run our first ever awards show! And with no bruising (A.K.A. bans)!

I was given the honor to host the little event, and it was a great honor indeed. But sadly, I had to struggle with a LOT of problems, one of which almost got the event to die again. So as you can (or will) see, I'm going to be very tense from now until the date comes up. I'm not good under pressure, and after last year's problems and this year's stampede in new members, I'm really REALLY tense now!

*Throws up.*

Well anyways, my main concern was that I wouldn't mess up this year, thus my early preperations. Sadly, I already started to mess things up! I forgot it was September!

If you don't know, it's only one month before the show, and I have nothing planned. You hear that, NOTHING! I always told myself "Ask the guys to see whether they want the date moved." but I can't believe I forgot about today!

So... should I move the date? I was think near December, so I have about 3 months worth of free-time for my project.

Now I'm only asking you guys because you're new here (the PSP Section that is). So I thought giving you a head start was fair enough. If anybody from the PS3 side in snooping around here, then I don't mind.

Okay, that just about covers it, no? My concern is that I might be ruining tradition if I move th date, since the title is "The 1st Annual LBPCentral Awards Show". But then again, the PSP Section may add more complexity of things, so I'm not sure what to do.

Halp pwease? :3

Oh, and if you guys are curious on how last year's show went, then check these out!

PS3 people already? That was fast.

Well since you're here, can you answer my question: Should I move the date?

I'm already anxious on the upcoming show, so please tell me what you think.

Motherfu-

You stalkers! The reason I posted it here is because I wanted a PSP Section's opinions. The PS3 side is more familiar with this than these guys, so I was hoping they'll see it instead. :/

Well... now my plan just backfired on me, so might as well answer your questions, seeing that nobody wants to answer mine. -.-

@theswweet
I meant Silverleon. The first time I see him on this section, and it has to be about him snooping.

@NinjaFerret
So... well, read my mini-rant in the beginning of this post.

@RockSauron
Yes, using makes everything better....

(Sorry for being harsh. You'll notice my change in moods once in a while. I'm more moody than a 25 year-old pregnant woman! )

Except that the PS3 section isn't exclusively people who were here a year ago, and the PSP section isn't exclusively people who weren't here a year ago >_>

And how does your reply to me even make sense? <_<

Sigh... can I at least have ONE person answer my question. The last show started near October, so I want at least a months worth of planning. So yeah, it's now or never....

And I'm going to do a RockSauron here.

Well it would have been good if you actually posted this in the right forum :/. Namely General Chat. Why exactly do the PSPers need their own separate thread again? Why is it hidden away here when it's LBPC in general? Why are PSPers new blood and PS3ers old blood because all PS3ers were here before October? Huh? What? What am I doing? Why am I here? Why is this thread here? why do I have a rash? Is that a gummy bear?

Again, I didn't want this to go too public. I wanted this to be both semi-known and yet hidden from others. Posting it in General Chat will get too much attention, why'll posting it here will only receive little do to the PSP's small Community. I just don't want to announce something that'll possibly be moved months ahead now, that's all.

So why are you posting it at all if it's just gonna be here? How is it the LBPC awards ceremony if just the PSPers get to know about it and decide on it? How is that fair? Why do the PSPers get their own little forum free of all outside contact again?

Ugh... fine, I'll make another thread and/or blog. Sheesh!

As you can see, I'm already messing up. Something I was fearing since the minute I posted this thread. So yeah... I'm a little ticked off right now.

Rock, I keep answering it: the PSP Community is small in numbers. So, I decided to use them instead because not only will they get to be familiar with the show, but I also want to introduce the PSP itself to the show's awards. I'm adding new categories especially for the PSP community (ex. PSP Creator Award), just like how the PS3 side has it's own categories. So I'm trying to get the PSP side to reveal itself to the PS3 side so they can vote in the General Chat Forum like everybody else, because this section hardly visits the other forums.

So basically you're trying to herd them into posting outside of here by telling them about what's going to happen so they don't have to climb out of here? And how do you figure that allowing the PSP side to know about it because they're new is fair? Why are they all holed up here again? This belongs somewhere else anyway, why do the PSPers need their own threads again? Why can't they just use the same General chat forum? And why exactly do they deserve to know about this thing you're doing? What does it matter if more people know? Isn't that a good thing >_>

Okay, excuse my noobish opinion, since this is the first time I actually figured what actually happens in these awards.

I can't say much on tradition, but does it matter if the date is changed? If it doesn't have any proper effect on the general awesome-ness on the awards then changing the date should be fine, because if you didn't, the awards might be worse off. I guess we should wait and see what the more experienced people who have seen the awards before think on tradition.

Hope thats of some help!

*edit* Oh yeah, theres 3 pages...I might a little bit out of date here...

I'm going off topic for a sec to respond to Rock's whinings.

We have this little section because, by the nature of how many people we have, the PSP section is a tight-nit group. This "hidey-hole", as you so eloquently put it, helps the PSP section maintain that feel, which is good for all of us over here. I've already made my opinions clear about the PS3 side in other discussions, but to paraphrase: I think they're full of flame wars and cancer, like 'teh cancer that is killing /b/'. I like my forums free of such cancer, and the system we have now keeps it that way. If we tried to share forums, I can guarentee every level thread would start with some genius poking his head in and saying "WHER IS TEH LEVEL? MAH PS3 CANT FIND IT HURR DURR!".

Tl;dr: PSP's dedicated section keeps the community in, and the cancer and morons out.

@Everyone
I'm tired right now, so please use the links I posted on the OP and check the threads' categories if you're lost on what's in the show.

P.S. This is what I'm talking about. You guys don't know what the show is, so I thought I introduce it here so you get a clue of it.

You plan on running on a contest for the forum but you would put it in the PSP section?

Less attention? Make a blog.
You want the PSP community to see it? It's their problem if they never or rarely visit other parts of the forum.

The thing about PSP members staying in their section is nothing short of ridiculous in my opinion. Cyber, if you did post this in general chat, I highly doubt sketch or velcrojones or cory would have even seen it. What's up with you all? We don't bite. We have a giant section of general stuff threads and I rarely even see you comment there. On the rare occasions when I do see a post from one of you, I freak out and think you're a new high-rank-and-rep member who I haven't noticed. I can't get my head over why you can't so much as check out the other parts of this forum. You're simply missing out.

Cyber is a good example, active in PSP, PS3 and the rest of the forums. That chessboard in his signature was a lot of fun to watch and take part in, but it seems like it's unheard of for a PSP member to even look through the Art & Creativity forum.

Tl;dr: PSP's dedicated section keeps the community in, and the cancer and morons out.

Your ignorant input has no place here. Try to conjure an intelligent response if you want more people to take you seriously.

I wish you didn't have to insult half the things you ever post about.

If the other PSPers don't feel like getting out as much, it's their decision. And trust me, some people in the PSP section you don't want getting out. (Only 2 people, but still)

It is an intelligent response. I get out and explore all the forums here, and have seen the ridiculous side of things in the PS3 section. Like an entire community raeging over Stephanie-Ravens, which only fed the troll, resulting in an epic lulsfest. Or thousands of intelligent posters going to someone's hard work and telling them, in essence, their work wasn't good enough because "HURR DURR SUMONE ELSE'S OBJECT HURR ONE STAR DURR".

Speaking of feeding the trolls, keep it up please. I need some luls today.

I don't know where to begin with this.

It is not an intelligent response. You're making jokes and posting a grimace picture while insulting a group of thousands of LBP players.

I've seen the ridiculous side of things in the PSP forum too - like the dementedchimpanzee incident and buckets of spam in the hoarder's thread. You will find a mixture of intelligent conversation and unintelligent conversation in every forum and forum section you go to. You just need to learn how to ignore the bad, embrace the good, and not make judgments based on a fraction of the population. It's like saying the human race is bad because of one serial killer.

I agree about stephanie_ravens being a troll, and of course, certain other people don't and will only give her attention. About that "Hur Dur" thing, I suggest you at least reread that thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=29616-HoverBoard-by-Ayneh). Nobody was childishly fighting as you'd put it in. Despite a moderator having to yell at you, I'm very surprised that you still think that way.

I agree with everything Incinerator said.

One reason why you don't see me much in the PSP section, is because all you PSP-only people are so hostile...
If you go to the last couple of page of some of the PSP forums, take the Everything Else forum, you'll see many threads started by people, like myself, who have both the PS3 and PSP game. But once you guys started posting we kind of all disappear, apart from people like Coxy, AFP and Taffey, who now never post in the PS3 section any more, even though they're brilliant PS3 creators (well, I haven't actually played Taffey's PS3 levels but his PSP levels are good so yeah), and if they did become active outside of the PSP section again you'd probably never let them back in.

Okay, this is getting out of hand guys. I never wanted this thread to be another battle ground for you guys, hence why I made two separate threads in the first place.

@Incinerator
Look, I'm not saying BlueBulletBill (A.K.A. B3) isn't hot-headed at times. It's just that you should follow your own advise and find embrace the good in him and not to judge us because of him.

When DementedChimpanzee arrived, he posted horrible things about amazingflyingpoo, a very talented Creator. When B3 saw this, he admittedly went after the guy to "protect" poo while he was inactive. So as you can see, B3 has his own way of showing good character. The only problem is that you need to know him first.

To be perfectly honest with you, I used to think B3 was a troll. When he came here commenting on FullMoon (or FailMoon) and he "insulted" us, it started a war between us and I actually started to go after B3, with him ranting around the place like mad. But after a while, we both simmered down and became good friends (I think).

So basically, you need to know these people more.

@BlueBulletBill
You're not helping the situation....

@ARD
We're not hostile. It's just that you need to communicate with us in a way we take kind to. In other words, you have got to stop hating us all the time.

When I first came here, I actually hated the fact that I was going to be stuck here. Yes, it was a cruel though at first, because my PS3 broke down and the only thing I had left was my PSP. So being inside this uncomfortable territory got on my nerves. BUT, after seeing the wonderful people here, I realized that I was actually glad my PS3 broke and that it was a mistake to judge the PSP Section.

So please, don't make the same mistake.

I don't think the PSP-ers are hostile, the community here is just close-knit. Seriously, lets not start any rivalry between the two sections. I never knew there was such friction between the two side of LBPC. They are two different games so its natural that there is a separate section. I often go to the General Section, even if I don't go to the PS3 part of LBPC, for the simple reason that if I don't have a PS3 so there would be no benefit for me nor the community. I have nothing against the PS3 section. Lets not forget LBPC is one place, welcome to anybody and we can all go where we please. If we want to stay in PSP section, or the PS3 section, its fine, if we want to go check out the other forums, thats fine too. Relax everybody!2010-09-05 14:34:00

Completely disregarded comment, clearly.

I have nothing much more to say on the subject, except I like most of the PS3's sides posters, and it just tends to be that none of the good ones come over here. I wish the PS3 trolls would leave us alone, and we'd get some good PS3 users over here. Napero is a start, but we need moar.

When the PS3 side gets too scary I retreat back to my little PSP hidey-hole to escape the cweepy trolls. O_O

Anyway, I think we should move the date, it will make sure the awards are good.

There's no trolls on the PS3 side... well too many that is. I blame the chessboard thread. You clearly wimped out during the war!

Okay, so that's it: I'm moving it to December! Anybody who wants to disagree or suggest something better should leave a comment on my Profile or PM me.

Other than that, I'm asking for a lock. Thank you!
