Oh, man. I live in Florida. Too far inland for the first spill to have affected me personally very much, but....

Oh, man.

The article says, as I understand it, that the rig was under maintenance and not producing gas or oil at the time. At the time of the article I read, no spill or leak had been detected.

I'll be sure to watch the local news tonight. There'll be more info by then.

I take solace in the fact that the BP guys "Cleaning up the oil"(Standing around drinking beer on the beach) are only about an hour drive away.

*Puts shotgun in truck*

*waits for more news*

Did I mention the open flare was when I was showing off my awesome new collection of candles and that I finally had gotten some firework to use for new year's eve I was carrying?

This is sad.

What company maintained this oil rig?

I've got to stop going to THEIR gas stations too.

It was a Mariner Energy rig. Never heard of'em, so it's gonna be hard to boycott.

This one really does sound to be much less of an overall disaster, as last I heard there was still no spill detected, fires were put out quickly, and no one died this time.

Could it be we're learning?

Accidents rarely seem to happen at a convenient time.
