Omni-Material?

Archive: 8 posts

So heres an idea that may or may not be confirmed or suggested, but i can't be bothered to go check
As well as all the normal materials and stuff, you'd be able to have an omni-material. You'd spread it just like any ordinary material, but it has a tweak menu:

Appearence: This is what it looks like. You can select any of the materials in your goodies bag (or the LBP2 equivalent). This doesn't affect anything else.

Effects: This will make it look lethalised. You can choose from none, fire, gas, electric, ar plasma (as well as any new ones in LBP2). It will make it look as if it's lethalised with that.

Lethalise: This one actually lethalises it. You can choose from fire, gas, electric, plasmified , squished, spiked, exploded, and drowned. It will make you die when you touch it, and change the animation your sack goes through when you do so.

Friction: This will make it slippy (like glass) or not. You can choose from those options.

Density: This will affect how heavy it is, and whether it floats or sinks, and by how much. You can choose from negative (peach floaty), none (pink floaty), All the materials (wood rubber glass ect.), and Water (like pink floaty, but in water). If movement lock is set to Position or Both, Density doesn't apply

Movement Lock: This can set how it can and cant move. Position lock lets it rotate but not move, as if it's bolted to dark matter. Rotate lock lets it move up down left and right, but not rotate, you can also set it to Both, which basically makes it dark matter

Grabbable: Self-explanatory, choose yes or no

Affected by Stickers: When something is hit by paint, or something explodes near it, a sticker gets put on it. This can make it so that doesn't happen. You can set it to Paint, Explosives or Both, repelling the stickers respectively.

Affected by Explosives: This toggles whether it gets damaged when something explodes near it.

This is optional if you can't figure it out, and allows for cool stuff like:

Non-slip glass, Slippy other stuff, Gas you can walk on, Stuff that floats without using dark matter, Stuff that stays the same way up all the time, Fire that electrocutes you , Grabbable everything, Grabbable gas, Ungrabbable grabbable stuff, Non-lethal lethal stuff, Stuff that kills you randomly, Stuff that doesn't get covered in paint when you shoot it, Stuff that stays in exacly the same place in water (Which the first LBP seems to be lacking), Moveable Dark Matter, suggest more if you want. The possibilities are nearly endless

I couldn't sleep last night, plus LBP2 hype, plus autism making me think of stuff randomly. So yeah pretty much.2010-09-02 20:00:00

That sounds really cool! Though I think you should just have all those options within each material, rather than one material that you change into whichever you want... But I like the option ideas!

You never know, some of these might be going in LBP2 already!

If it was in all the materials, people who couldn't figure it out wouldn't be able to make levels.
Wait, that could work to our advantage

Also, GRABBABLE GAS WHAT.

There's already a logic switch in lbp2 that can change the properties of a material..

I think the button looks like an apple. I just know in one of the preview vids had someone make a wooden spaceship act like cardboard and even gave a bounce to it. (it was a very old vid with the older looking buttons)

I know in one of the vids, there was a lethalizer button too. (he put it on the music synth timer and set a normal wood block ablaze in an instant, and back again)

So yeah, you can do those things I bet.

I'd love to be able to make materials unaffected by stickers- a varnish tool maybe?
