I hope this post is allowed This is boss was hard at first but I figured him out! I played it 4 times straight lol. Nice turn based system and selection of attacks for the boss. I like how he flips over like hes saying leave me alone then he attacks. The cutscenes were funny . Where can I get some cant-havium these days? I really loved the replica ship in the beginning. The actual stage was just as stunning. I did run into some problems though. I think some of his missile and drone attacks need to cover more spots. There 1 particular spot where nothing really cant kill you until his fire attack. Also on my 3rd playthrough the part you shoot disappeared on the 1st turn and he malfuntioned and it was unable to be completed. My 4th playthrough I beat him with no problems! I gave it 5 stars and a heart. Awesome boss battle. Could you give feedback on my new level Umbra Valley: A Lost Soul? I would greatly appreciate it. | 2010-09-02 20:38:00 Author: L1GhTmArE Posts: 519 |
OMG!! I have checked your level and it has seemed to me to be phenomenal, there are no any more words to describe it, are entertained, entertaining, the gameplay is a god!! Surprising, the design of the whole level is fantastic, and I have liked the intro very much, the machine that is the enemy this brilliantly, am of the best levels that I have played in this week. Congratulations it is a marvellous work. I have given you 5 :star:?S and <3 I hope that you play my new level WOOD WORLD https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=34593-Wood-world and i wait ur opinion please | 2010-09-02 21:54:00 Author: psyntens Posts: 562 |

Thanks for the comments guys, i'll get to playing your levels later on today hopefully. | 2010-09-03 15:38:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
I thought this boss was great! The cutscene at the start was funny, and with fantastic visuals! Wish I could make something looking like this. For the boss fight itself, I did find it a bit frustrating, but then I was trying to use both hands to shoot extra quickly at the boss I liked the way the boss moved back and forth into his drilling position, I don't know if your ship could be destroyed but for me it went down to 0% before I destroyed it so I may have had a lucky escape. It did feel a tad samey shooting the same section over and over, and the boss didn't die properly once I killed him for some reason. There were still electrified parts of him getting in my way that I had to jump over to get to the door - and had he fallen slightly differently I wouldn't have been able to get past him. Maybe it's designed like this but it looked odd to me. I gave your level :star::star::star::star: - there is room for improvement there. Please F4F my levels in my sig | 2010-09-03 15:40:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |
Some of the most dramatic storytelling I have ever seen. When the driller lands on the hull of the Gargant and it sits there tremoring from the impact my minds eye saw animation!!! Excellent stuff-- even if I cant beat the boss. | 2010-09-03 19:20:00 Author: Gravel Posts: 1308 |
Imma gonna get to this! I said like Thursday night... but it's gonna have to be a few more days. Just wanted you to know I'm keeping a special tab open for this so I don't forget! | 2010-09-04 03:19:00 Author: Ryhas Posts: 179 |
WOW. I love the cutscene at the beginning, very well executed. It looks magnificent! I really love the whole feeling of this challenge, awesome scenery, great use of the 3d glitch. Phew!!! That was a tough challenge! I got it on the second try, very creative setup I might add. You really have to learn the patterns of this machine if you want to get past it. Anyways, great job job with the level, I absolutely loved it and found no flaws... I'm giving it 5 stars and a heart. If you could, please check out my level! It's in my sig. Thanks. | 2010-09-04 06:37:00 Author: ShamgarBlade Posts: 1010 |
Thank you muchly for the criticisms thor, I do agree that theres room for improvement but the full thermo is stopping me making any significant changes and i'd rather invest my time in a survival entry for LBL. I wanted to make a boss that had a lot of moves crammed into a relatively small body but I suppose the trade off and my short-sightedness means that it only has one semi-vunerable weak point I think the difficulty is about where I want it, where the boss is almost a timed puzzled as opposed to something you have just spam paintballs at for a couple of minutes. I'm at my bro's house still but i'll get to playing all these F4Fs when I get back later on | 2010-09-04 09:59:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Awesome boss level. The opening sequences looked brilliant and well narrated and the boss battle is a blast. First time I failed to save the spaceship from the boss but second time... BOOYAH! I also loved the details of the ship. The most difficult hazard to dodge to me would have to be the raining missiles mostly because I'm trying to beat the boss before time runs out. Overall this level deserves 5 stars and a heart. Play and F4F "The Hero Chronicles LV7 Dragon Ruins" | 2010-09-04 18:02:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
Hey, this looks pretty cool. I will play it on Monday!! | 2010-09-04 21:18:00 Author: GreatWhite000 Posts: 673 |
Ooh! Anoter level from Asbestos ! I'll try to give this one a play later today or tomorrow. Edit: I played it and here's what I thought. I thought the detail of the level was anmazing, the ships were well designed, I liked the look of the planet and the giant ship you were in also and the design for the enemy was great. I liked the different attacks the robot had although it was pretty frustrating. It wasn't that I couldn't shoot it, it was definitely possible it's just the health bar went down pretty quickly. Although it still is possible since my friend made it but unless you wanna keep it a challenge then that's fine. I gave it :star::star::star::star: and a <3 Great job! | 2010-09-04 21:53:00 Author: Dragonvarsity Posts: 5208 |
Okay, this is seriously the fourth time I've written this up, since my internet is not agreeing with me. I loved, loved, loved the short little cinematic. Great ship, and I love that the drilling boss was an LED when zoomed out. The boss itself was fun and looked sweet, but since we're going by a much higher standard for this contest... well, the gameplay wasn't terribly original. I just shoot the panel, dodge some stuff, and shoot the panel. That's my one complaint. I love how the drill slowly destroyed the hull, and I don't want to know what would happen if I failed! From me, though, :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3... great work! I'm not quite as good as you are, but if you'd kindly give feedback on my level, Commander Keen: Goodbye Galaxy - Part III, I'd really appreciate it. The link is in my signature. Thanks! | 2010-09-07 19:26:00 Author: Ryhas Posts: 179 |
Wow! Impressive. In my opinion, the introduction gave the best graphics out of the entire level. The plasmafied ship was really well done, as well as the planet. The elevator leading upwards was OK, but I did die once or twice trying to jump-layer-switch into the corridor. The boss was cool, especially when it turned upside down, but the eye and the redness looked out of place. The first ending (where you fail) wasn't very good, because the explosions looked like an afterthought. The second ending was cool, and I felt a nice sense of accomplishment with it. Here's my +s and -s: - Layer switching problems on the elevator. - Presentation of the elevator didn't quite fit with the rest of the level. - The background was OK, but it didn't really give me the "space" feel. + Nice wobble bolt work. Pretty ingenious, I might say. + It had some good attacks; really fond of the missile one. - I don't like the red - didn't fit in - Material choice on the ship and boss weren't the best. + Very nice introduction - The creature eye seemed out of place on the boss... + It's good to have a time limit! All in all, it wasn't your most stellar work (I personally consider your Seeking the Meaning levels to be your best), but that's probably because of time constraints. I gave it :star: :star: :star: :star:, and though I didn't give it a heart, I'll be sure to the next time I'm online. If you have the time, could you leave feedback on my boss entry, Steelhead: Act 4: The Steel Dragon (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=35115-LBL-4-in-1-Steelhead-Act-4-The-Steel-Dragon&p=609699#post609699)? Might be interesting to hear feedback from a competitor. | 2010-09-07 21:50:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
Thank you very much richard for your very fair assessment! With regards to a few points; The elevator does look rubbish, i'm sorry, but I built the area you fight the boss in first and then worked backwards once that was complete and the stars ate a lot of the thermo away. The elevator is the most annoying bit of the level for me. With regards to layer switching, theres some invisible dark matter at an angle so shouldn't really even have to think about getting into the corridor; you should be able to just walk right and its fine! You were probably over thinking it, but it's a valid point still. Not much I can do about it now after the deadline though eh? The material choice as far as the boss is concerned is very tetchy, in all the cut scenes its pure metal, but then on the ship it has to be half metal and half cardboard so it can actually stand up under its own weight! If I was to do it again, i'd reverse the layers its body is on, so it'd have its legs on the middle layer and its body on the front, that would also sort out the layer switching for the player. I like the creature eye and the colour scheme but I suppose that's just a taste thing And yes, I will definatly check your level out. | 2010-09-08 01:40:00 Author: Asbestos101 Posts: 1114 |
Steel monkey? I'll beat you with my Steel Dragon /cornyjoke Also, this username is just stolen from my brother; I'm actually called William. Anyway, I do think I hearted it now, because I've reassessed my opinion of this level. A heart for your level & you! | 2010-09-08 02:04:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |

Haha, my indirect blackmail is awesome. I'd say that this was better than the other boss you used in seeking the meaning, seeing as it has more attacks and a better interface. I haven't tried out the other method of shooting him (from the bottom) but that certainly seemed like a nice addition. | 2010-09-08 02:25:00 Author: Richasackboy Posts: 619 |
Awesome boss fight! The visuals were a bit too busy, in my opinion. It took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing because there was just so much stuff going on! It's overwhelming!!! The attacks seem too frequent too me as well. One second i'm being flamed, next second I'm getting rained on by missiles! I don't know, maybe i just suck at this game. Those are the only real criticisms I have... Other than those things the boss is flipping amazing! I loved the cutscene, the death sequence...yeah, not much else to say other than it's awesome. 5 stars! I loved it! Good luck with competition thing that I apparently know nothing about! (runs over to littlebigland to see what the huge deal is...) Whenever you find the time, play my level " Dark Cavern"! | 2010-09-08 02:37:00 Author: crazymario Posts: 657 |
No skippable intro makes me sad. I thought creators had gotten the message, but I guess not. heh. Even if the intro is the best thing in the world (I did really enjoy it), you still should have the option to skip it. Even I skip the best cutscenes in other games after dying a few times. Layer switching on the elevator. I must have been holding R1 by accident, but the checkpoint should be in the same layer as the door. I don't see why people always put checkpoints as far back as possible when it detracts from the gameplay, even if it's the tiniest detail. No way (at least to my knowledge) to stop the boss calling in the impossible to shoot / hard to avoid drones. I had a real hard time dodging the missiles while attemping to shoot the weak spot, since they fall down in a weird pattern. My biggest niggle would be that the back layer looks walkable, but isn't! Arg! Managed to kill it easily on my 3rd attempt, after having a lot of trouble on my first two. Better than I could do (bosses are hard to make enjoyable) but could be improved. | 2010-10-07 22:43:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
