So, I'm trying to get into this, but the server is getting ganked at the moment (think water beta signups). Is anyone else trying for it, and do ya think the final product will be able to sucker you outta yer money for a monthly sub? I am unsure, but by all that is shiny and attention grabbing, I intend to find out!

IIRC, the signups for...one of the lbp betas, think it was the water one, crashed the signup site. as far as the ff open beta, you need a square enix id -NOT a play online account- and then ya need to go here (http://entry.ffxiv.com/) Edit: I should point out that they are being choked to high heaven at the moment, and the game promptly kicked me off to patch itself 10 minutes after i finally got logged in. the updater seems to be stuck too.... Edit again: The server strangling was so bad that ALL of them had to be shut down and patched. even the update server. still not back up.

Well, I FINALLY managed to be able to register for this . I am downloading the installer as we speak. Here's hoping it works, although I won't get the real game for PC and only might for PS3 :/

well, there are latency issues, and i have no clue what I'm doing. so I've been running around casting cure and stone skin on every group of people i encounter. oh, and you don't have to get the higher tier spells to AoE them. when you select your target you have the option to target or hit everything in the general area of the target. Nice. aaand...crafting jobs are their own classes, unlike FFXI.

A helpful bit o info to keep track of if you are in the beta: Server Status (http://www.ff14news.com/serverstatus/) that site also has info for downloading patches without using the in game downloader that would make Cthulu cry out in frustration.

Ok, and now that the game is officially release since several days, is there anybody here that play or is about to play it? I am "Takelow Delucas" within this, and i am playing on KASHUAN severs. I am an Elezen male, mainly elementalist. If you search for somebody to play in this world (KASHUAN), i am your man BTW, the game seems in lauching phase, but it is already AW-ESO-ME!!!!! Don't know yet how many days of my life this could steal me (probably too much, and certainly some timesleep!!!).

True valor of FF online (XIV as well as XI) reveals itself with time. More you play it, more you like it...until death And yes, there is a monthly fee. It is 1299 crystals (SE money) per month for one avatar (+300 crystals by added avatar). So in france, it is 12.99€/month. But since you don't buy any other game for four years at least ()....

My PC is crap, I'll just wait on the PS3 version. That said, I'm hoping to start on the Besaid server because it was designated as the unofficial RP server.
