Concept: Egyptia (Update 1)

Archive: 9 posts

Ive been looking at the final version of the game (haven't got it yet, might tomorrow) but looked in horror as it didn't have an Egyptian zone! So instead im planning to make a series of 3 levels and 3 minigames based around Egypt, and am open to suggestions. I'm planning to use materials and objects from the Canyons, Wedding, Temples, Savannah and maybe the Islands theme.

Level 1: Welcome To Egyptia: Set in the arid desert, this level will feature camels, and a long boat ride along the Nile.

Level 2: Market Street: Still in the desert, but in the foothills of a large pyramid, this focuses on a market place and town, a bit like Boom Town but on a much larger scale and more 'towney'

Level 3: Pyramid Plunder: Set in a pyramid, this is the 'Finale' and acts as a set of challenges looking for the sacred 'Treasure of Tutensack, and a section before the end with a sack-mummy chase'.

-A Half-Complete Mock Powerpoint version with explanation is available here:

Minigame 1: Boat Hopper: A Survival challenge where an increasing flow of boats come past a certain area, and Sackboy must jump from one to the other to survive.

Minigame 2: The Spice Rack: Another score challenge, this time where Sackboy must roll in his own personal 'ball' through a hilly marketplace filled with spices (coloured gases)

Minigame 3: Trap Of Death!: A typical 'Walls Close In' style trap, however on a larger scale. To release the spikes (which allows you to climb up to the finish) you must follow a series of quick fire challenges inside the area.

I like the idea. I've thought of doing similar things, and I might some day. Probably something within a pyramid. :]2008-10-23 17:56:00

Sounds good mate
Love anything to do with Egyptians. It interests me.
I went to the Tutankhamun exhibition in London last year with my girlfriend and it was amazing seeing all those artefacts form thousands of years ago:eek:

Yo Floor, I've been thinking along the same lines as you for the last couple of weeks & wanna create a Pyramid level (or maybe three, to match the Giza Pyramid's). I've sketching out some concept's that I think would work really great and have been doing some research at my local libary for both iconology and acient Eygption art. I wanna use some of the test examples I used in the Beta, as well as some totally new idea's I've been working on over the last few days in terms of features in the level, aswel as 'Boss' concepts. I know the games not out yet, but if ya wanna collaborate when it is, I'd be up for it. PM me on here if you're interested.

An Egypt-themed level or levels would certainly fit nicely into the style of LBP. I think we'll see a good few such levels before long, so make sure your stands out. If you have an EyeToy, perhaps some sketches of your own used as stickers would help?2008-10-25 00:03:00

Heres what i suggest. Get tons of emmiters emmiting tiny circles, that are sand color. Then you can slide down a slope. Cool right?2008-10-25 06:37:00

Ive been making some more progress on the Mock-Version of Pyramid Plunder, which is looking great. Ive made a choice on the final music (The One from 'The Mines' Level) And will now feature an 'Explode your way through' section in the complete dark. I hope to be working on the final version with a fellow LBPC member, Scooby4953 (above) and on the page is a PowerPoint with the mock on (Only half-complete remember!) with a detailed explanation below. Enjoy!2008-10-26 15:00:00
