Australian Parliament continues to be in a deadlock after last fortnight's federal election where neither major party was victorious. The decision will be left to 'Independants" meaning politicians with no particular party preference. They will choose one party or the other based on whoever does the best sucking up or offers the best policy (likely the former), and then we'll know who our prime Minister is. I'm hoping Labor get beaten as they suck at federal budget management. Big time.' Also, the body of a drowned 16 year old boy was fished from the Yarra river yesterday after he fell from a footbridge. Likely he had been drinking. This last winter (this month Spring is supposed to start here) has been the second wettest in a decade which means the tight water restrictions of the last few years (3 minute showers, no washing cars at home) are being reassessed. And in very, very local news, our french doors were successfully put in yesterday , but today our heating has stopped working | 2010-09-02 00:16:00 Author: BabyDoll1970 Posts: 1567 |

Utah County is outlawing the possession of the marijuana substitute known as "spice" in its unincorporated areas. County commissioners unanimously voted Tuesday to ban the possession, purchase or use of the chemically treated herbs. County Attorney Jeff Buhman says the ordinance will allow law enforcement to target the use of spice in the county's canyons. Undersheriff Mike Forshee says deputies are encountering teenagers using spice in the canyons to get high because it's legal. While the herbs are treated with substances that simulate the effects of marijuana, Forshee says it can't be detected by drug tests When I read the headline, I honestly thought they were talking about spices. I was thinking, "What's so bad about paprika?" | 2010-09-02 04:11:00 Author: Frinklebumper Posts: 941 |
They're always talking about weather, cause it's Tornado Alley. There may be up to I think 5 tornadoes in a single large storm in Spring. | 2010-09-02 04:16:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |

To prove how much our state likes to point out the obvious: State officials now confirm what many likely suspected: This is one of the wettest, warmest summers in recorded Illinois history. State Climatologist Jim Angel says the average summer temperature of 76.4 degrees was almost three degrees above normal and the seventh-highest average ever. The hottest summer ever was 1936 when the average temperature was almost 79 degrees. Angel says 16.7 inches of rain fell around Illinois on average this summer. That's more than 5 inches more than normal and the sixth highest ever. The wettest summer on record was 1993 with 18.3 inches. The National Weather Service predicts that warmer-than-usual weather could continue through September. Forecasters, though, say September could see normal rainfall. This weekend's forecast: Expect breezy and sunny today with highs in the lower 70s. Northwest wind 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Clear tonight with lows in the upper 40s. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph in the evening becoming light after midnight. Saturday: Sunny and highs in the lower 70s. Northwest wind around 10 mph. Clear in the evening with low in the lower 50s and light wind. Sunday: Mostly sunny with highs around 80. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon. Mostly clear in the vening with low around 60. Labor Day: Breezy and mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s. Mostly clear in the evening with lows in the upper 60s. | 2010-09-04 01:26:00 Author: Jaslow Posts: 775 |
